The March 2015 So Susan Lip Love Bag has arrived and this month’s theme is ” I love to Travel”.  We all know what a pain and struggle it can be packing for a weekend trip or a long haul holiday especially deciding on what products are worthy of making the cut into your make-up bag. I really battle to scale down and find that I always pack more than what I actually need resulting in an overflowing make-up bag that’s seen better days! This month’s edition features a selection of make-up essentials and boasts a beautiful collection of spring/summer inspired shades, perfect for creating a minimal day look or for evenings out when you’ll want to look your very best. I adore the design of the canvas bag and think it’s really impressive that So Susan design a different one for each monthly theme.

The So Susan collection ranges from make-up to nail varnish combining their lovely portfolio of colours with science. Their philosophy is to create colours which last, are cruelty free and also much kinder to your skin. As well as the philosophy behind the brand, I love the feminine and pretty designed packaging which always stands out for me. I’ve tried quite a few products from their collection and already have a few firm favourites.

Each month, the Lip Love bag  will include 3 full sized items and one bonus  product from either Jelly Pong Pong or So Susan.  This month’s bag being the second edition includes 4 make up items and a lace bracelet.

1. Fairy Lashes Curl by Jelly Pong Pong – Full Size. RRP £18.00

I’m a daily wearer of mascara and whilst I have so many within my stash I love trying out new formulas from different brands just to mix it up a little, after all you never know it could turn out to be a holy grail!

Fairy Lashes Curl by Jelly Pong Pong is a sculpting, curling mascara that promises to continually curl lashes throughout the day with a unique synthesis of Moringa Seed resin that dries down and holds the curl of lashes for long-lasting results whilst adding volume.

The Fairy Lashes Curl Mascara definitely has fairies in mind with its weightless formula and soft finish and steers away from any crazy volume or length giving a very natural look. It’s ideal as an everyday mascara that keeps the lashes defined and wears well, although I didn’t notice any curling despite it’s claims.

2. So Susan Lip Dome in Rhubarb – Full Size RRP £10.00

I already own three of the shades from the lip dome collection and was happy to receive another in the shade Rhubard, a pretty girly pink colour.

This long-wearing lip crayon not only has great pigment but it also nourishes the lips as well giving a plumping effect. It contains Hyaluronic Acid and Tripeptide-1 that help increase lip volume and prevent loss of collagen elasticity and it’s also infused with Goji Berry and Mangosteen extracts, earth-engineered antioxidants to help reduce skin fatigue for a more youthful radiance.

The formula is truly amazing and doesn’t dry out the lips at all thanks to it’s super moisturising infusion of goodness. I really can’t get enough of these lip domes from So Susan and I only need one more to complete the collection!

3. Blush Duo by The Beauty Crop – Full Size RRP £11.00

This isn’t a brand I’ve of heard of before and think it’s fairly new. The Beauty Crop is a brand inspired by healthy living and they create products enhanced with nutrition derived from natural ingredients and was founded by Ning and Runee, two good friends based in London who came together through their passion for food, fitness and healthy living.

Housed within a compact and travel-friendly plastic palette, this blusher duo contains two shades,  a pink powder blush and a coral cream blush and I love that they have incorporated two different finishes with the palette. These blushers are really pigmented, smooth and easy to blend giving just the right hint of colour on the cheeks. At first they both looked rather dark and I was a little wary of the pink as visually it looked very shimmery but when applied it was actually quite subtle and gave a lovely rosy colour with a very natural finish. With the coral cream blush you simply need a little dab and the cream literally glides on, is easy to blend and gives a radiant flush of colour. I’m really impressed with my first introduction to this brand and hope to see more products featured in the upcoming months.

4. So Susan Liquid Powder Shadow Palette (Bonus Item) – Full Size RRP £11.00

I love any kind of make-up palette and this one by So Susan is compact and small enough to fit straight into your make up bag or hand bag. This liquid eyeshadow formulation is hot-poured and solidified to form a creamy firm powder with an airy texture that moisturises and melts onto the skin which in turn promises to make your shadows last longer, with no fall-out, enabling your skin to breathe. It’s also infused with radiance-boosting minerals, Vitamin K to alleviate dark circles and Copper Peptide to promote collagen and elastin growth around the delicate eye area.

The eye shadows are housed within a sturdy plastic palette and inside there’s an applicator and a mirror, perfect for on the go touch ups. There’s eight different shades within the palette ranging from light matte shades to shimmery metallics making the transition from day to night pretty much a doddle. I initially found that the darker and more shimmery shades performed much better however the more lighter shades applied quite patchy with hardly any colour pay off, this could be down to the finish but I just couldn’t get them to work for me.

5. Cruiani-esque Butterfly Lace Bracelet (Bonus Item) – RRP £8.00

As well as the make-up line up So Susan also featured a cute butterfly lace bracelet which I initially thought was a hair tie at first! It’s really pretty and would make a great beach accessory.

 My Verdict

It may be grey and dull outside, but So Susan have curated another great bag this month featuring a selection of make-up which incorporates a beautiful collection of spring/summer inspired shades. I loved the line-up this month and there’s a good balance of make up treats to brighten complexions whilst also adding a flush of colour to our cheeks and lips whether you’re at home or away! As well as the beauty line up, I loved the design of the canvas make-up bag which really gives it that So Susan look and feel, it’s so pretty and what’s even more impressive is that each one is specifically designed to fit the theme for the month.

It’s definitely refreshing to see just a make-up based subscription which not only is cruelty-free but kind to the skin too without compromising on any of the quality. This concept by So Susan really gives you a great opportunity to experiment with make up colours that usually may be out of your comfort zone.

The contents within the bag is worth an incredible £58.00 and beats the actual price of the bag itself making it super affordable and exceptional value.

I’m super impressed with the Lip Love Bag and can’t wait to see what they have in store next month.

I think you will agree there’s always been a gap in the UK market for a subscription programme which is just make- up orientated and it was only earlier this year that So Susan grabbed this opportunity and announced their Lip Love Subscription. After much anticipation I’m really excited to finally unveil the February Lip Love Bag, the first ever edit designed to bring you lip-focused products infused with skin-loving ingredients along with a bonus item too. This month’s theme is centered around the red carpet and comes very well timed as February see’s some of the biggest showbiz events taking place from the Oscars to the BAFTA’s not to forget the Brit Awards, and with celebrities showing off the latest and most glamorous trends So Susan brings a selection of make-up for us to recreate some of the key trends ourselves at home, all of which come presented in an adorable designed make-up bag.

This month’s bag being the first ever includes 4 make up items and one bonus item in the form an anklet.

1. So Susan Cheek Jelly – Full Size. RRP £10.00

The So Susan Cheek Jelly is a gel stain that tints lips and cheeks in a luminous, natural wash of colour. The sheer, lightweight texture enables you to blend and build the shade up for a perfectly personalised hue.

The gel-type formula is really lightweight and there isn’t a trace of stickiness. It gives a great pop of colour on the lips which is easily buildable to achieve the desired result. This also doubles up as a cheek stain and initially I thought it would be way too bright for my pale cheeks but surprisingly you get a lovely rosy flush with the tiniest amount once blended out. It doesn’t seem to fade during the day either.

2. So Susan Lip Dome in Melon – Full Size RRP £10.00

I already own one of the shades from the lip dome collection and I absolutely adore the formula so was happy to receive another in the shade Melon which is slightly nude toned with orange undertones.

I’m delighted to have another one to join my collection.

3. Jelly Pong Pong Super Model Lip Stain – Full Size RRP £18.00

This richly-pigmented, hydrating lip & cheek pomade promises to deliver 12 hours of continuous wear without dryness, creasing or smudging and it’s cruelty-free too.The pomades are encased within a strudy plastic palette although it would of been great to have seen a mirror inside the case for on-the-go touch-up’s, it does however come with a mini lip brush. Within the palette is four different shades and contains similar shades which I would usually wear. These are quite pigmented with a matte finish which I really like and can be made shiny by simply applying some lip gloss. I did find them a little drying on the lips but using a lip balm as a base worked quite well. The pomades make a great blusher too although it does need to be blended out for even coverage.

I really like this palette especially the variety of shades which are all very wearable and can simply transform your make from day to night with very little effort.

4. Jelly Pong Pong Undetectable Concealer – Full Size RRP £15.00

I’ve seen a few subscribers receive the concealer quad and although I’ve hit the pain with the one which I already own I was happy to see an alternative from Jelly Pong Pong.

This intense but not occlusive texture thanks to the carefully-formulated canvas skincare base, the concealer is virtually undetectable once blended onto the skin and claims to reduce the appearances of all kinds of skin imperfections with one subtle swatch. It’s infused with the power of Olive Oil and Willow Bark Extract which are excellent antioxidants to protect against the daily environmental skin damage.

I rely on concealers daily mainly to cover imperfections and blemishes and no lie this is one of the best and effective formula’s I’ve come across to date having tried both high street and high-end brands.  This super-hydrating, silky concealer hides under-eye circles and imperfections with excellent coverage and matches perfectly with my skin tone. The smooth, weightless formula  applies effortlessly without creasing or flaking and it’s definitely the star product this month.

5. Red Carpet Stars Silver Anklet Chain– Full Size RRP £11.00

As well as the make-up line up So Susan also featured a cute silver anklet with dangling stars and diamantes, fitting with the red carpet theme perfectly.

 My Verdict

I’ve fallen head over heels with So Susan’s first ever Lip Love bag and I think they’ve done extremely well in curating this bag from the variety of products to the different mix of lip shades and finishes not to forget the addition of the concealer which I absolutely adore. As well as the beauty line up, I loved the design of the canvas make-up bag which really gives it that So Susan look and feel, it’s so pretty.

It’s definitely refreshing to see just a make-up based subscription which not only is cruelty-free but kind to the skin too without compromising on quality. This concept by So Susan really gives you a great opportunity to experiment with lip colours that usually may be out of your comfort zone.

The contents within the bag is worth an incredible £64.00 which is great value for money and beats the actual price of the box.

I’m super impressed with the Lip Love Bag and can’t wait to see what they have in store next month.

It’s the start of the new year and a time where we tend to put all our glittery nail vanishes to one side and reach out for wintery colours again from darks to rather more subdued shades. The January 2015 So Susan LacquerLove box has arrived and this month’s theme is New Beginnings and includes four shades to brighten and liven up the miserable month of January and sees a range of refreshing colours which usually dominate the months of summer. The box showcases a good selection of pastel hues to a fiery metallic shade, perfect for giving your nails a fresh start for 2015.

Unfortunately this will be the last LacquerLove edit from So Susan and it’s a box that I am really going to miss. As with all new beginnings I’m looking forward to the newly launched LipLove Subscription which looks amazing. More information on the new box is available here.

So Susan has the prettiest quirky packaging and is definitely a brand which stands out. Their collection of products ranges from make-up to nail varnish combining their lovely portfolio of colours with science. Their philosophy is to create colours which last and is kind to your skin.

The box includes 5 full sized items, four of which are 4- free nail varnishes and one bonus make up product each month from either Jelly Pong Pong or So Susan. Each monthly edit features a unique theme and is specially curated.

This pastel coloured and elegantly designed box is very So Susan designed and comes in the form of a gift box which is secured by a magnetic fastener.

Inside the box is four 4-free nail lacquers and a bonus So Susan make up item .

1. So Susan 4-Free Nail Lacquers – Full Size. RRP £6.95 each

The So Susan nail lacquers are highly pigmented and are formulated to be chip-free and to remain intense with shine from the first application. The formula has quick drying time and is enriched with Rosehip fruit oil to moisturise and strengthen your nails and the delicate skin around it.

These nail lacquers are 4-free which means they contain no DBP (Dibutyl Phthalate), no Toluene, no Formaldehyde and no Formaldehyde resin, making it the ideal product which is kind to you but also sustains it’s high quality formula.

This month’s box included the shades Hope, Faith, Dream and Resolution which are all based around new beginnings and very fitting for the month of January.

The January edit features a beautiful selection of pastel hues as well as a fiery metallic shade and it was a refreshing change from the typical colours colours which we associate with winter. The shade Dream is a lovely subtle peach and Faith is a dashing fiery orange with a high shine finish and specks of shimmer.  My favourite is Resolution which is a soft pistachio shade perfect for the months of spring. Lastly is Hope, a striking pastel blue which is the perfect summer holiday shade and really reminds me of the beach!

The So Susan nail lacquers have a wonderful formula and the colour payoff is pretty amazing. The most impressive factor is the shine which these lacquers give without the need for a top coat and depending on the shade, one coat is simply enough to achieve a fully opaque finish. The brush also provides great coverage with very little effort making nail painting a complete doddle.

2. So Susan Dual Brow Powder Palette – Full Size RRP £11.95

Brow filling is a must for me to give the brows that extra definition and shape. I’ve always used a brow pencil and never really looked into a powder alternative so was happy to give this a go.

This smudge-proof dual-shade compact comes in a medium coverage  and is infused with Aloe Extract and Carrot Seed Oil to nourish and rejuvenate the sensitive skin around the eyes.

The palette itself is robust and contains two powder shades, one being a light brown and the other a darker brown. It also has a mirror inside and an angled application brush so you can get right underneath the brow line. I tried the darkest shade but unfortunately it just wasn’t dark enough for my brows.

Although the colour wasn’t an exact match,  I loved the compact and surprisingly the powder adhered really well with no smudging. I would love to see this palette in a darker shade as it ticked all of the boxes for me.

 My Verdict

I love this month’s edit which gives a welcoming break from the dark colors which we associate with winter. There’s a good variety of colours and finishes from high shine pastel shades to a striking metallic. I loved trying out the brow palette which also gave me the opportunity to put a powder brow product to the test and I was pleasantly surprised with the results.

The LacquerLove Box was an unique subscription box which only concentrated on nails and was the first of it’s kind to launch in the UK and although this is the last box from So Susan, a few of their previous edits are available to purchase as an one off on their website. It’s such a shame to see this box go as it was one of my favourites and allowed me to try shades that I wouldn’t normally reach out for. As well as the box helping me to steer away from classic shades, I also loved the impressive quality and the high-shine formula of the nail lacquers.

This box is worth an amazing £39.75 which is great value for money and beats the actual price of the box.

So Susan have newly launched their latest Lip Love subscription which is designed to bring you lip-focused products infused with skin-loving ingredients each month.

2. So Susan Universal Blush – Full Size RRP £17.95

Although I already own this blusher I was happy to receiving another one. This is a micronized, jet-milled blush that works with your skin’s natural chemistry to create a universal healthy flush that is flattering on all skin tones. It’s made with Buriti Fruit Oil to repair the epidermis and improve skin elasticity.

This diverse blusher is a really pretty shade of pink and contains hints of gold shimmer giving a soft warm glow giving a natural finish. The gold shimmer adds subtle luminosity especially when exposed to light.

The silky texture glides smoothly onto the skin, is easy to blend and can be built up to achieve a more dramatic look. I really love the shade which is perfect for brightening lacklustre skin during the winter months.

 My Verdict

I love this month’s edit which includes a great selection of Christmas and party inspired nail varnishes. There’s a good variety of colours and finishes from striking high shine shades to an eye-catching glitter. The Universal Blush was a lovely addition to the box and is perfect for brightening dull complexions this winter.

Overall this is an unique subscription box  which concentrates only on nails and is the first of it’s kind in the UK subscription market. I love So Susan’s concept of this monthly box it’s certainly one which will ensure you have the latest colour trends in your collection.  I also like that you receive a bonus make up product too making the discovery not just nails. The October 2014 So Susan LacquerLove box has arrived and this month’s theme is inspired by Halloween and whilst the 31st of the month may be doom and gloom for some, So Susan have come up with an edit which includes a selection of pretty and sparkly nail lacquers embracing magic and fantasy with illuminating and supernatural shades from ghouls and goblins to mermaids and ice queens.

So Susan is a brand which is known to have the prettiest quirky packaging and definitely a brand which stands out. Their collection of products ranges from make-up to nail varnish combining their lovely portfolio of colours with science. Their philosophy is to create colours which last and is kind to your skin.

This box includes 5 full sized items four of which are 4- free nail varnishes and one bonus make up product each month from Jelly Pong Pong with So Susan being the sister company. Each monthly edit features a unique theme and is specially curated.

This pastel coloured and elegantly designed box is very So Susan designed and comes in the form of a gift box which is secured by a magnetic fastener.

Inside the box was four 4-free nail lacquers and 2 bonus Jelly Pong Pong Liner/Shadow crayons chosen randomly from 3 make-up items.

These nail lacquers are 4-free which means they contain no DBP (Dibutyl Phthalate), no Toluene, no Formaldehyde and no Formaldehyde resin. A nail varnish which contains no nasties making it the ideal product which is kind to you but also great quality.

This month’s box included the shades Mermaid, Red Cape, Aurora and Ice Queen (Full sized retailed at £6.95 individually).

This Halloween edit features a selection of different unique shades and look absolutely stunning when applied. My favourite is the Ice Queen as it’s so sparkly and reminds of crisp frosty mornings in the Winter. The Aurora nail lacquer is unique in colour with its tiny specks of glitter and the Mermaid and Red Cape is the perfect companion alongside your Autumn wardrobe.

These nail lacquers have a wonderful formula and the colour payoff is pretty good. The most impressive factor is the shine which these lacquers give without the need for a top coat. One coat is all it takes to for an opaque result. They really do give you the most effortlessly application.

2. Jelly Pong Pong 2-in-1 Shadow/Liner x2 – Full Size RRP £10.50 each

This month So Susan are surprising their subscribers with a selection of 3 different make-up items which are chosen randomly.

I was delighted to receive not one but two of these liners which are uniquely formulated to double as an eyeliner for thick, precise lines as well as a perfectly-blended eye shadow. The exclusive combination of Italian-formulated waxes and pigments allows you to build up the colour, smudge or create bold lines quickly and easily.

The black liner/shadow applies smoothly giving a striking bold line on the waterline and the plum shade is more of subtle pink which is a lovely natural colour. Both blend quite easily on the eyelid or under the water line or above. I love that these liners are multi-purpose which can be used together to achieve either a natural look for the day or a dashing smokey eye look for the evening.

 My Verdict

This is by far one of my favourite edits by So Susan. I love the beautiful shades which provides the perfect finishing touch whether you’re off to a Halloween party or simply looking for the perfect nail colour to compliment your autumn wardrobe.

Alternatively this would also make a lovely gift.

This box is worth an amazing £31.95 which is great value for money as the box itself is only £14.95 including P&P. You certainly won’t be in the dark with this box as you will be able to preview the box and all it’s contents prior to it being sent to you. if you don’t fancy the pickings you can simply skip the month giving you complete control and flexibility.

If you tend to stick to classic shades this box definitely gives you the opportunity to try something which you normally wouldn’t reach out for.

There’s a colour to suit every occasion in this box making it the ultimate box for all you nail varnish enthusiasts.

This pastel coloured and elegantly designed box is very So Susan designed and comes in the form of a gift box which is secured by a magnetic fastener.

Inside the box was four 4-free nail lacquers and a bonus So Susan Universal Blush which I received from a mystery selection this month.

These nail lacquers they are 4-free which means they contain no DBP (Dibutyl Phthalate), no Toluene, no Formaldehyde and no Formaldehyde resin. A nail varnish which contains no nasties making it the ideal product which is kind to you.

This month’s box  included the shades Peplum, Emerald Dust, Dark Denim and Aqua Marine (Full sized retailed at £6.95 individually).

These nail lacquers have a wonderful formula and the colour payoff is pretty good. The most impressive factor is the shine which these lacquers give without the need for a top coat and one coat is all it takes to show it’s true colour.

This month’s box featured a range of different unique shades and look absolutely stunning when applied. I welcome the very subtle aqua blue and the vibrant emerald green as I don’t own any similar shades in my collection. The darker shades in the form of the dark purple and blue are great for the Autumn Fall which is nearing upon us.

2. So Susan Universal Blush – Full Size RRP £17.95

This month So Susan are surprising their subscribers with a mystery make up item.

I was delighted to receive the Universal Blush which I’ve been wanting to try having read really positive reviews. This is a micronized, jet-milled blush that works with your skin’s natural chemistry to create a universal healthy flush that is flattering on all skin tones. Made with Buriti Fruit Oil to repair the epidermis and improve skin elasticity.

This diverse blusher is the most amazing shade of pink which gives a soft warm glow. It’s looks very natural once on and the depth of colour is ideal for achieving the perfect rosy cheeks. The texture of the powder glides smoothly onto your skin.

In 2008 Nicola Roberts, of Girls Aloud joined forces with brand Jelly Pong Pong to create Dainty Doll, a makeup collection for pale faced beauties . The concept was to embrace porcelain skin by delicately accentuating your features instead of overpowering them with harsh colours and formulas.

This dual compact is a blush and contour in the shade Blossom which comes in peach and a slight brown shade. The peach blush is delicate and quite subtle and ideal for paler complexions.

A huge welcome to the So Susan LacquerLove monthly subscription box which is the ultimate box for all you nail varnish enthusiasts and fans.

July’s LacquerLove theme was Ready, Jet Set, Go and comes at the right time of the season where we all start to enjoy the summer sun and plan for a summer holiday either at home or away.

Inside the box was four 4-free nail lacquers and a bonus Jelly Pong-pong Mineral Foundation with SPF 15.

These are definitely shades I will be reaching out for this Summer.

2. Jelly Pong-pong Mineral Foundation with SPF 15 – Full Size RRP £15.00

I love that within this box also includes a make up item.

This talc-free formulation which comes in three different shades gives optimal coverage as well as moisture to your complexion giving you a matte but not cakey result. This extremely silky and sophisticated to the touch is formulated with a pool of different minerals (sodium, magnesium, calcium, potassium and zinc) which are extremely skin compatible.

I received the shade fair which was perfect for my skin tone. I’ve never used a powder foundation so was keen to give this a go.

I used a powder brush to apply and this light weight powder is great for the warmer months as an alternatively to using a cream foundation which can feel heavy. I loved the silky satin finish which looked flawless on the skin.

For someone who has always used a cream foundation I’ve fallen in love with this.
