Well the Perfume Society have curated their very own ‘fashionable’ discovery box and it’s impressive although you’ll be lusting after quite a few scents once you’ve smelt them all! *The Catwalk Collection Discovery Box is full of ‘must have’ treats for the fashion-loving perfumista and showcases a selection of sublime designer scents along with offerings from well-known and loved brands from the beauty industry giving you the opportunity to discover the best of both worlds, something which really adds to the appeal of this edition.
With a good mix of vials and generous sized beauty products the box introduces to some classics as well as a variety of new releases from both well-known perfumiers to those who have just dipped their toes into the industry. Inside the box you can also expect to find information cards for each product with a detailed overview as well as some perfume blotters too so you’re pretty much all set to find your next signature fragrance!
1. Valentino Donna – Sample Bottle 6ml
If you’re a sucker for cute packaging then this bottle really ticks all the boxes, it’s the prettiest sample I’ve ever come across. The chiselled bottle is all parts supremely luxe and the scent is just as loveable.
With accords of Italian bergamot, Bulgarian rose, iris absolute, patchouli, leather and vanilla, this really is a modern twist of a rose scent. It’s smooth, soft and very elegant and the more I wear this the more I fall in love with it.
2. YSL Black Opium – Sample Vial 1.5ml
With rich sweet notes of vanilla mixed in with cedarwood and patchouli, the YSL Black Opium might be a bit heavy for some, but it’s warmth makes it the ideal choice for the autumn/winter months.
Black Opium is a sweet scent with spicy, creamy notes that really adds warmth to a cold wintery day. This lasted the whole day on my skin but I can’t decide whether I like this or not.
3. Jimmy Choo ILLICIT – Sample Vial 2ml
Created to embody the confident, feminine and alluring, Jimmy Choo Illicit contains top notes of orange and ginger with deeper notes of jasmine, honey-amber, rose and sandalwood. Illicit has quickly become one of my favourite fragrances, the notes really intermingle well with one another and I think this one is a good pick if you’re looking for something a little more youthful.
4. Narciso Eau de Toilette – Sample Vial 0.8ml
Narciso is a little too sweet at first, but contains a hint of freshness that does not weight it down. The cocktail of floral, woody and musky notes gives this scent character with a delicate floral edge. I really love the lightness and it’s one of those scents which effortlessly makes you feel happy and sexy and will not fail to get you noticed.
5. Cosmopolitan Eau de Parfum – Sample Vial 1ml
Cosmpolitan have bottled up their first ever perfume and if you’re fan of sweet floral scents this smells absolutely divine, something I wasn’t expecting at all!
Living up to it’s claims this is sweet and fruity with floral undertones making it suitable for any occasion.
6. Etat Libre d’Orange Remarkable People – Sample Vial 1.5ml
Etat Libre d’Orange Remarkable People opens with a fizzy champagne accord doused in grapefruit that sparkles and shines with a hint of fun to come. It’s an easy to wear, warm and comforting perfume which does wonders in lifting the mood on each spray and makes you want to come back for more!
7. Agonist Dark Saphir – Sample Vial 2ml
Agonist Dark Saphir is a complex and unique composition based on the purest raw materials, creating a beautiful addiction. Characterised by a combination of 100 percent natural ingredients , the fragrance blends top notes of violet leave, black pepper and ginger with a floral heart of rose, iris, jasmine and cinnamon. Oud, patchouli, vanilla and Gaiac wood form the base.
I love the composition of this scent it’s quite unusual, sensual and sexy.
8. Nails Inc Gel Effect in Old Burlington Street – Full Size 8ml
One of the highlights inside this edition is the Nails Inc Gel Effect Varnish in Old Burlington Street, it’s a stunning inky, navy creme which looks stylish and opulent with it’s high gloss finish.
9. Percy and Reed Eau My Goodness Shine and Fragrance Spray – Travel Size 50ml
I’ve tried a couple of Percy and Reed products and remember being really happy with them and this little spray is such a good multi-tasker. Eau My Goodness isn’t just a hair fragrance it also doubles up as a nice shine spray which doesn’t weigh the hair down.
The delicate scent of rose and morning dew is quite light and being in a travel sized spray it’s ideal for keeping in the handbag when you’re hair needs a pick me up.
10. Benefit They’re Real Mascara – Sample Size
A long standing favourite of mine is the Benefit They’re Real Mascara so I welcomed this travel sized addition. I love the formula of this mascara which not only works well in lengthening and volumising my lashes but does an equally good job at separating the lashes too.
My Verdict
Curated to perfection, the Catwalk Collection Discovery Box really hits all the right notes and if you’re perfume fanatic you’ll absolutely love this box. With a super luxe assortment of high-end fragrances to unique and artisanal perfumers it gives you ample opportunity to discover some new and exciting perfumes, all of which are seasonally appropriate too! It’s not all scents though as this edition also includes three beauty treats something which makes this box even more appealing.
Admittedly I’m not one of those people who stay loyal to just one perfume and prefer to mix it up so this box is great for that. Overall I’m really impressed and whilst some of the samples are small there’s enough of each one to use for at least 3 days or more giving you plenty of time to decide which one(s) you like best and I can confirm that you’ll definitely be lusting after some full sized fragrances as there’s something for everyone’s taste.
