The October My Little Box arrives fashionably late as usual and this month it’s centered around creativity. It’s not my favourite edition to date and personally I think the box has somewhat lost its sparkle especially on the beauty front, unfortunately there’s also a repeat from a previous box but that aside the value of the box is amazing. As always the artwork and the extra little touches, makes this box very unique so if you love beauty and lifestyle treats this box delivers the best of both worlds.

My Little Box is a hand-picked and beautifully designed box of beauty, fashion and lifestyle surprises. With fashion accessories, beauty products and other goodies created exclusively for you and based around a different theme every month, each box promises to delight their subscribers. They also produce their in house beauty products known as My Little Beauty.

1. The Beauty Products – 3 Items

Each month My Little Box include 3-4 beauty products from both well-known and emerging brands, all of which are generous in size however it was disappointing to see a repeat product from a previous edition.

I’ve really loved what I’ve tried from Talika and their Photo-Hydra Day Cream (Travel Size 30ml) is no stranger. With innovation at the forefront, this cream uses the energy from natural light to deeply moisturise and hydrate the skin making it much more than just an average moisturiser. The cream also contains the powerful moisture-binding ingredient Hyaluronic Acid which creates an effective water reservoir within the skin cells and plumps the skin for a rejuvenating and youthful effect alongside Mango Butter, which nourishes the skin and prevents dehydration and offers multiple skin benefits for all skin types.

Up next is the Un Songe d’Or Beauty Oil by Ainy Skincare (Full Size 100ml RRP £29.00) which is a multi-purpose oil for hair, nails and the body. It’s certified organic and chock full of gorgeous botanicals that smell sooooo good!

Last but not least on the beauty front is the Crème de Minuit (Full Size 40ml RRP £15.00) from their own collection, My Little Beauty. Containing skin loving ingredients such as Shea Butter and wheat proteins this little night time saviour claims to soothe and nourish the skin as well as giving an oxygen boost.

2. Lifestyle Items

With supermarkets now charging for their plastic bags the My Little Box Tote Bag (RRP £15.00) couldn’t have arrived at a better time! On one side of the bag there’s a lovely design by Kanako and on the reverse it quotes “Collect Moments not things”. The quality of the material is really nice and it definitely makes a bold statement and without a doubt is much trendier than a plastic bag!

With creativity in mind, the Wire-Wrap Beads (RRP £16.00) is great way to spruce up those headphones. It’s quite a unique addition and isn’t something I’ve come across before so I’ll definitely be making use out of these.

My Verdict

Whilst My Little Box bring something very different to the subscription market, I can’t help but feel that their recent editions are somewhat lacking the wow factor in comparison to when they first launched however I’m also aware that it’s difficult to please everyone month on month! Whilst I love the lifestyle items, the beauty treats which were mainly skincare (not forgetting the repeat from a previous edition!) didn’t really excite me much but that being said I do love a good multi-purpose oil so was pleased to be introduced to a new brand who infuse a lot of goodness inside their products. This months edition is worth an amazing £75.00 so it’s great value for money.

One thing I can’t fault is the extra little touches and the intricate detail, they really do bring something special and unique to the beauty subscription market making it one of a kind.

If you like chic lifestyle items and beauty discoveries, this box has the perfect balance. It really does deliver something very magical which is guaranteed to make you smile.

I’m a bit disappointed with this months box, instead of the oil that sounds lovely I got a Nails Inc polish. I love nail polish but always find Nails Inc disappointing so I am not very happy!
    Great review as always

    • Thank you. I’ve cancelled but will more than likely sign up again if there’s an edition I like. I love nail polishes but I’ve received so many lately!

This used to be the only box that I was subscribed to, other I used to buy when I saw it was a good edition. I even up cancelling it though because I found the same thing as you. They do get a bit repetitive with products and I always fine I never use their own beauty products, I don’t know why but they seem a bit cheap? And if we did use up the product they charge quite a bit for another. But like you said, I did really like them for the little details that they did.

    • It’s such a shame and although I’ve now cancelled I’ll probably sign up again if one of their editions take my fancy 🙂

I would’ve loved the oil but I got the nails Inc varnish which I received in a previous box. Not impressed with the beads either but love the tote bag.

  • The bag looks very cute 🙂

I finally succumbed and signed up. I saw other boxes this month with nail varnish and body cream as the options but I got the same as above thankfully. My bag design is different, blue trim at bottom and polka dots on one side, it’s a good quality bag too. The tech jewellery might have suited me when I was under 12 but not now. Talika reviews are good and the oil doesn’t look like much in its packaging but at £29 I’m hopeful. Face cream don’t know if it has working hard enough ingredients for me but it’s still got a good list of ingredients, can use as hand or body cream otherwise.

Signed up as I like the idea of lifestyle replacing a couple of items, with other boxes I get too much beauty stuff, I have 4 Nuxe masks now!

I always get a twinge of envy when seeing their boxes – I hate missing out! But I remember why I cancelled last year…their posting times were awful (to say they were coming from France, it was ridiculous!) and their customer service was less than favourable, I agree with the post regarding their own brand cosmetics, that mascara they gave away in one of the earlier boxes was just awful! I’d rather have a really thoughtfully curated box than a pretty looking one!
