I don’t know what it is but I’m obsessed with miniature beauty products not to mention the fact that they come in really handy when travelling and perfect when space is in short supply so when Glossybox revealed their ‘Glossy Getaway’ theme for May I couldn’t wait to see what travel must-haves made the cut. Sticking to the theme, this month’s oh so pretty collector’s edition is aptly designed by the super cool illustrators OMY with city sketches of London, Paris, New York and Berlin (all home to Glossybox of course) and with a good area of beauty covered I think there’s some really useful essentials whether you’re home or away this season plus there’s a foodie item too something that’s not often featured so combine all the elements together it’s definitely a good all-rounder this month.

Glossybox is a monthly beauty subscription service. The box consists of 4-5 selected hair, make-up , body and nail products from well-known brands and new brands and includes a mixture of full sized and sample products.

1.  Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser – Travel Size 29ml. Full size RRP £8.00

The Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser is a mild, non-irritating formulation that soothes skin as it cleans and is gentle enough for a baby’s delicate skin. Designed specifically to work for all skin types, it is a simple, yet highly effective way to care for your skin and is their best selling product.

It has a slightly thick yet creamy gel texture that melts into the skin and produces a very light, milky lather. As the name implies, the formula is very gentle so it’s safe for even the eye area and neither did it leave my face feeling tight or dry afterwards.

While I love the way this made my skin feel, the formula doesn’t handle the removal of makeup all that well, especially eyeliner and mascara so you will need to double cleanse. This is definitely something I’ll continue to use and so far it’s not broken me out so that’s really positive!

2.  Absolute New York Velvet Lippie – Full Size RRP £4.93

This innovative lippie delivers intense colour pigmentation with a lightweight, non-drying mousse formula that glides over lips, then sets into a very comfortable, plush matte finish. I received the shade ‘lolita’, a pretty pink creme with a hint of lilac and is a great choice for spring/summer.

3.  Hawaiian Tropic Protective Dry Oil SPF 15 – Travel Size 100ml. RRP £5.99

Hawaiian Tropic has always been one my go-to brand for sunscreen so I’m delighted Glossybox included this within the box. The Hawaiian Tropic Protective Dry Oil has the unique fragrance of Hawaiian Tropical exotic flora , fruit and natural ingredients; mango, papaya and passion fruit and as with all their products it does not fail in transporting you to a tropical island! The formula is water resistant and helps protect the skin against sunburn whilst the addition of aloe vera moisturises the skin leaving it feeling soft and smooth.

4.  Bee Good Youth Enhancing Plump and Firm Moisturiser – Sample Size 15ml. Full Size RRP £23.50

Suitable for all skin types, especially mature or ageing skin, this intensive daily moisturiser is bursting with precious, hydrating British honey, antioxidant-rich propolis and potent raspberry seed oil, rich in moisturise-boosting essential fatty acids, to improve the visible signs of ageing and leave skin with a bee-autiful, youthful glow.

5.  Revlon Mascara  – Full Size RRP £9.99

I’m really fussy when it comes to mascara just like many but Revlon have come to the rescue with a collection of five different types of mascaras meaning there’s literally something for everyones needs be it length, volume or maximum drama!

The Revlon Ultra Volume Mascara uses a conditioning clump free formula to help maximize and plump up each lash for intense and massive volume. It’s unique and innovated plumping brush features triple grooves to hold just the right amount of product that easily combs through the lashes and provides a ton of volume from the root to tip. Its mixture of both short and long bristles eliminates any clumps for a completely smooth application process.

6. Proper Corn Lightly Sea Salted Popcorn – Snack size

I can’t even remember the last time Glossybox included a foodie item so it was great to see a snack sized pack of the Lightly Sea Salted Popcorn from Proper Corn.

My Verdict

I have to admit Glossybox have been upping their game lately and I absolutely love the theme for this months edition.  With all things travel in mind they’ve incorporated a good selection of key essentials that are the perfect size to accompany you whether you’re jetting off to sunnier climes, going to any of the multitude of festivals coming up or just simply staying at home. The contents are presented inside a pretty collector’s edition box designed by OMY and I absolutely adore the London edit and the pretty packaging is something that always gets full marks from me. There’s a couple of products that wasn’t suited for me but I’m delighted with the remainder and I think there’s some great must-haves on board that I’d happily pack for a weekend away.

June Spoiler: All subscribers will receive a multi-tasking lip and cheek stain from Swedish make up brand Emite.

The May Glossybox is available for £10 (+P&P) throughout May from www.glossybox.co.uk while stock lasts.
