After five successful months being in the beauty subscription industry, Little-Known Box have indeed set the standard high when you take into account their previous boxes so with this in mind I had high hopes their October box which is a special edition to celebrate their sixth month anniversary. Upon first glance there was lots to delve into but I just wasn’t that excited by the contents, it’s not a bad curation but I guess I was expecting more of the wow factor being an anniversary box. Nonetheless and on a positive note there’s quite a few highlights on board from brands I’ve not come across before in addition to a few extra bonus treats and as always it does exactly what it intends to by putting a host of new discoveries in the spotlight.

This newest luxurious beauty subscription box promises to ship 5-6 products to you per month, to discover, try and enjoy at home. In addition to monthly subscriptions they also offer gift subscriptions and one-off boxes, providing a truly flexible beauty subscription experience! Featured brands are carefully selected and include full and sample size luxury products from skincare, makeup, hair, body and grooming products to nail care, nail art, lifestyle and beauty accessories (with the occasional surprise thrown in!). You might see some well-known brands featured, but they will be little-known products or new launches!

Here’s what they featured inside their October edition:

Up first on the skincare front and something that’s already done the rounds inside numerous boxes already this month is the Merumaya Melting Cleansing Balm (Travel Size 25ml). Using a double cleanse method, it removes make up and grime first, and on second use it cleans your skin. This luxurious balm is infused with skin loving ingredients such as sweet almond oil, echium seed oil (RevitElix™), Mangosteen extract and the Merumaya Signature Essence Blend which smells utterly divine with a subtle floral fragrance.

Practising an all-natural skincare ethos based on Ayurvedic principles, Samaya isn’t  a brand I’m familiar with but they use the finest authentic elements of Ayurveda, marrying them with clinically proven active ingredients and anti-ageing compounds, to provide effective skincare through a relaxing, holistic experience. To discover your very own Dosha (the name given to the energies that govern every individual) there’s three types of Anti-Ageing Creams (x3 samples 5ml each) inside this month’s box. Formulated with powerful Ayurvedic botanicals and clinically proven anti-ageing ingredients, these rapidly absorbing moisturisers contain an intensive blend of active compounds that visibly reduce the appearance of wrinkles. The full sizes retail for a whopping £89.00 so it would have been beneficial if the samples were a little more generous in size to get a feel of the products for at least a few days!

Up next we have The Herb Garden Massage Bar (Travel size worth £4.00), that actually mimics a soap but is in fact a body moisturiser! With soothing chamomile and lavender to de-stress the mind, the bar also benefits from the goodness of shea butter ,almond oil and Vitamin E to nourish the skin.

On the make up front and a firm favourite of mine is the Lin&Lo Satin Lipstick (Full size RRP £19.00), a moisturizing lipstick that’s formulated with vegetable waxes, emollient oils and antioxidants. It also contains allergen-free perfume and comes in a variety of neutral shades. From three variations I received Petal, a beautiful muted pink that’s perfect for everyday wear and is definitely something I’ll get lots of use out of.

I’m always up for trying out different techniques when it comes to prettying my nails and the DinkiBelle Nail Wrap Gift Set (RPP £7.99) gives you that salon look without the mess and effort of applying nail polish in the comfort of your home and is a complete kit that includes a nail file, cuticle stick and rubber cuticle pusher. Offering a myriad of designs and colours, I absolutely love the on-trend marble design and can’t wait to give them a go over the weekend. I’ve also taken advantage of the discount code and purchased some more designs as I’m such a sucker for pretty things!

Sticking with the celebratory theme, Little Known Box have generously included three extra treats in the form of Fab Little Bag pack, Merumaya Iconic Youth Serum and a Pocket Sized Mirror.

My Verdict

While this month’s box didn’t particularly excite me as much in comparison to previous editions mainly due to my own personal preferences and the fact that I’m a little bored of seeing the cleansing balm from Merumaya as it’s done the rounds inside quite a few boxes this month (a downside of receiving so many boxes), there’s quite a few highlights that I love, will use and delighted to have discovered which in turn definitely makes up for some of the shortfall! Featuring a good variety of samples, full sized products and three generous bonus products, my firm favourites from this month’s line up are the lipstick, nail wraps and the cute little mirror – I’m forever losing mine so this will come in useful as a back up! In addition to the above you’ll also find exclusive discounts for each of the brands showcased so if you happen to fall in love with something there’s good savings to be had.

Little-known box definitely put a great selection of under the radar brands/products in the spotlight so if you want to be introduced to a number of beautiful and interesting products then it’s definitely a box you’ll want to add to your list.
