www.birchbox.co.uk

Quite possibly the prettiest box I’ve ever laid eyes on, Birchbox have gone all out for their collaboration edit with Tatler this month, the peacock feather design is such a stunner and the colours complement one another so well. Focusing on getting us ready for the festive season which seems to be a common theme across the board this month, my box contained two guaranteed make up treats in addition to some skin and hair care rescuers from popular and established brands plus it’s always exciting to spot a brand you’ve been wanting to try out for ages- thanks Birchbox!

Birchbox is a monthly beauty subscription service. The box consists of 5 luxe beauty treats from well-known brands and emerging brands and occasionally you may also receive a lifestyle item too. Birchbox is also a full-blown beauty destination where you can purchase all the brands which have been featured in their boxes with an exceptional and very generous reward program.

1.  Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar Primer – Sample Size. Full Size RRP £15.00

It’s always exciting when you spot a sample from a brand you’ve been wanting to try for so long and while I’ve been primarily interested in trying the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tars, this nifty little lip primer is something I’ll definitely be able to get lots of use out and it’s the perfect addition for the party season!

Designed to prep the lips, the primer not only hydrates and soothes but also helps to keep your lipstick intact and can be used throughout the day to refresh. The formula contains Hemp Oil and Vitamin E to nourish the lips, while Peppermint Oil soothes and also acts as a natural preservative.

2.  Midi Wet Brush – RRP £11.99

I have a ton of hair (mixture of my own and extensions) which can be quite challenging at times and while I’m very loyal to my beloved Tangle Teezer, the Wet Brush is my weopon of choice when it comes to battling with knots. This brush not only saves time but there’s noticeably less damage which in turn keeps my hair healthy, tangle-free and the best bit it’s a painless process so it would be a great choice for kids too.

The Intelliflex™ bristles glide through any type of hair and bounce back to their original form after every stroke to prevent split ends and reduces hair breakage. The SofTips™ make the detangling brush suitable for even sensitive scalps and work effectively to massage the scalp, stimulating circulation at the follicle. The brush is also coated in rubber to prevent it from slipping out of your hand which is essential when using on wet hair especially the amount of times my brush has gone flying!

3. Nuxe Crème Prodigieuse Anti-Fatigue Moisturising Cream  – Travel Size 15ml. Full Size RRP £21.00

The Nuxe Creme Prodigieuse Anti-Fatigue Moisturising Cream is something that’s popped up many times inside beauty boxes and I’ve got quite a collection going on! Containing an innovative complex of anti-oxidants and active ingredients that work to relieve stressed complexions while hydrating and refreshing the skin too, this is a great antidote for partied out skin!

4. High Definition Brow Define in Vamp– Full Size RRP £18.00

High Definition is a brand that really wowed me with their brow palette a few months ago so I was delighted to see their Brow Define pencil inside my box. Described as a long-lasting, medium-firm brow pencil, it’s enriched with waxes for easy application and is ideal to fill, define, blend, shape brows to perfection and also includes a handy built in sharpener for touch ups on the go.

I go for more of a bold look when it comes to brows and unfortunately the pigmentation was way too sheer plus the shade wasn’t a good match for me either. You do need to sharpen this (which is a pain) but if you prefer more a natural look then this is a good choice.

5. Darphin Rose Aromatic Care – Sample Size. Full Size RRP £45.00

The Darphin Rose Aromatic Care is a fragrant, soothing and softening essence to incorporate within your evening skincare regime. It promises skin renewal with natural radiance and contains essential oils and vitamins, which will give you calmed skin and a revived look.

My Verdict

I think you’ll agree the design for the Tatler collboration is an absolute stunner, there’s just something so magical about peacock feathers and the colours they’ve chosen gel together so well but I think I was more distracted by the pretty drawer box than I was with the line up this month!  In terms of the contents, it’s always fun to discover a new brand/product and learn what they’re about so I was delighted to see Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics on board as it’s a brand I’ve been curious about for quite some time and excitingly the Lip Tars are now avaialble via the Birchbox shop so I’ll definitely be making a cheeky purchase! While there’s a couple of products I probably won’t get much use out of, my box did contain two full sized products and some long standing favourites so I’m always happy to have backups of things I already use and love. In addition to the above you can also expect to see a Birchbox-exclusive Tatler Magazine Subscription offer that enables you to get 12 issues for just £12.00.

If you like trying out products from well-known, loved and emerging brands then Birchbox is definitely great for this. The subscription itself is affordable and the monthly rotation of treats introduces you to brands and products you might not have otherwise found, all of which can be purchased within their online shop. Whilst Birchbox send out smaller samples with 1-2 full sized items, in my opinion they are much more consistent and are more likely to send you something that you feel the need to purchase.

December Spoiler: There’s a full-size Ciate London Fierce Flicks Eyeliner in every box!
