December is always an exciting month for subscription boxes and this month’s *Look Incredible Deluxe edition definitely had me beaming from ear to ear – well for the most part of the contents! Boasting good value with everything being full sized, this month’s line-up showcases quite a few of my favourite brands such as Too Faced, Laura Mercier and Smashbox, it is serious make up heaven and in my opinion it also just so happens to be one of their best edition yet although there’s a couple of repeats which prevents this edition from being perfect.

Here’s a quick overview of what’s inside this month’s edition:

It’s no secret that I love Too Faced products, the packaging alone just suck me in every time and this is certainly no exception plus it’s cat themed! The Cat Eyes Palette (RRP £32.00) is housed in a handy portable metal case with a mirror and inside there’s nine shades-three lighter base or highlighter shades and six others to create contrast and colour and features a nice variety of both matte and shimmer shades. The darkest shades can also be used dry or wet for precision lining and although I’m not too keen on a few of the shades inside this palette there’s plenty of options to mix and match for both day and evening looks. The palette is tiny but it’s incredibly travel-friendly!

Up next and a firm favourite of mine amongst the line up is the Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lipstick in Antique Pink (RRP £22.00), a cool toned mauve rose that boasts a super creamy, pigmented and moisturising formula which feels really silky on the lips thanks to the vitamin E and olive oil. I love the sleek metallic packaging and it’s a completely fragrance-free too!

I’ll happily admit that I’m just not a fan of these types of applicators when it comes to perfecting those wings especially when I take into account how much I struggled with the Benefit version so it will be interesting to see if the Smashbox Photo Angle Pure Pigment Gel Liner (RRP £18.00) changes my opinion! Described as a high-impact and richly pigmented eye liner, the formula combines the intensity of a gel with the creativity of magic marker and promises to stay put for 36 hours which alone is  a huge claim!

It was only in August that we saw these very same Pro Collagen Hydra Gel Eye Masks from Elemis (x2 RRP £13.00) so I’m disappointed to see them featured again but at the same time they’ll certainly get used! The hydra gel eye masks are formulated to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and contain potent plankton extract, combined with padina pavonica and chlorella that provide a skin-tightening effect, whilst hyaluronic acid hydrates the fragile eye area. Leaving the eye area feeling refreshed with a cooling sensation, the mask moulds to your skin and stays in place so it’s a great choice when you are getting ready to go out or relaxing on the sofa at home.

Last but not least is the Spa Retreats Nourishing Hand Cream (RRP £13.00), a blend of sweet almond oil and moisturising  Shea butter to help soften and nourish hands and nails and contains essentials oils of citrus Nobilis, Neroli and Ylang Ylang.

My Verdict

I think this month’s deluxe edition had some nice products in it, and most importantly – very generous sizes and there were some things that I loved, and others I wasn’t so excited to see, but overall I think it’s a pretty good selection for the £35.00 price tag. The only thing that let this box down for me was the repeat eye masks and the cream from Spa Retreats which we sampled only last month however the remainder of the discoveries definitely made up for the shortfall as there was quite a few of my favourite brands on board. So far the two stand outs for me are the Laura Mercier Lipstick (I can be very picky when it comes to pink hues and Antique Pink is definitely something I would have picked out myself!) and not forgetting the Too Faced Palette which is a gorgeous addition and I can’t wait to have a proper play! I’m particularly excited to try out the Smashbox eye liner so I’m really hoping it performs better than the Benefit version!

Look Incredible rarely disappoint with their editions and without fail there’s always something that I manage to fall in love with but the main appeal for me is the fact it introduces me to products from brands that I love and know, majority of which are all from the aisles of department stores and sometimes the odd new discovery so it’s a great way to add to your current stash without making a hefty splurge.
