What better way to kick start a brand new year than with a collective of shiny new beauty products to play with! Say hello to this month’s Little Bit Lavish Box which is themed January gems! Since their debut earlier last year I’ve found this box to such an indispensable resource as I am constantly being introduced to new brands, many of which are up and coming or a bit more niche. With this in mind I was really excited to see what treasures they picked for this month’s line up and I’m pleased to report it does exactly what it intends to and every single item showcased is completely new on my radar which is really novel and so refreshing plus as the weather is getting colder it’s the perfect time of year for a little beauty pick-me-up!

Little Bit Lavish is a fairly new subscription box with pampering in mind. Each item will be carefully chosen for you to enjoy as their belief is that all women deserve some time for themselves.  Whether it be a long soak in the tub, a five minute face mask or something as simple as applying a lip balm!  Their box of goodies will have a different theme each month, with the majority of our products being full size and will contain between 5-7 carefully selected pampering treats from beauty, skincare and the odd makeup item plus a lifestyle item and something edible or drinkable. The brands they’ll be featuring will be a mixture of established companies to cottage industries with the intention of mainly focusing on organic or natural and cruelty free products.

So without further ado let’s see what gems made the cut inside their January edition:

Up first and a key staple for the winters months is the Soothe Me Everyday Hand Cream (Full size RRP £7.50) and although I own more hand cream than I could probably use in a lifetime, I still get excited about trying new ones! Handcrafted in Bow, London, this luxury and concentrated plant based and natural hand cream for every day is infused with mind clearing Frankincense, zesty Grapefruit and refreshing Mint and it also doubles up as a foot cream too! I’m definitely looking forward to trying this once I’ve finished the one I’m currently using.

I’m absolutely obsessed with dry oils as not only are they non-greasy, lightweight and incredibly hydrating but they also have the great same benefits as their counterparts so I was really excited to discover the  Isla Apothecary Neroli Body Oil (Travel Size RRP £16.00). Described as a cult favourite, the oil contains heady and romantic floral notes and the peppery aroma of the bitter-orange blossom in its heart note. This multi-purpose dry body oil helps to cleanse and balance the skin, improve elasticity, and soften the appearance of scars and stretch marks and can be used in the bath, in massage, and is even gentle enough for the face due to its very simple yet effective ingredient list. I’ve used this a couple of times after a shower and it really does work wonders when it comes to mimicking that healthy summer glow and injecting that much needed moisture without that greasy feel plus the gorgeous floral scent lingers for quite some time too meaning you can skip the perfume!

Moving onto the skin care front we have another new discovery in the form of the Olofson Facial Oil One (Travel size 10ml RRP £12.00), a brand created by Wendi Olofson who creates a luxury skincare range that not only works, but isn’t full of irritating ingredients or loaded with chemicals plus you can also expect to see her passion infused into her products too! This gentle, easily absorbed facial oil/serum promises to give you a much needed boost of moisture and radiance any time of the day or night and is rich in Hazelnut oil which has a toning and firming effect over time. This does contain nut oil and unfortunately I’m allergic (sad face!).

To complement the oil above, you can also expect to see the Jade Face Roller (RRP £10.00), a skincare tool that’s actually been around for centuries in the Far East. Jade rollers are thought to reduce facial puffiness, drain the body of toxins and stimulate the skin although I’m assuming you’d of course need to use this over a period of time to really see the benefits. I love that it’s double sided and the smaller roller is great for those hard to reach area such as under the eye area and it feels rather cooling too!

Anyone else have a love/hate relationship with lip scrubs? I do as I love the concept but I really dislike the whole dipping your fingers into a jar and the sugar ending everywhere before it even reaches the lips! Luckily, thanks to Little Bit Lavish the Saturated Colour Scrub Stick (Full size RRP £6.50) has very quickly become a must-have item inside my make up bag as it’s packaged in a handy stick form meaning it’s much more fuss-free and also benefits from being a lip balm too so you’re getting the best of both worlds and as a bonus it’s also cruelty-free.

Lastly amongst the line up is the Good Full Stop Cherry & Maple Fruit & Nut Bar (RRP £0.84), a blend of dates, cashews, maple syrup, real cherry pieces, natural flavouring and the finest ingredients to satisfy that sweet craving as part of a balanced diet.

My Verdict

While it’s great to write about products from popular brands we all love and know, it’s nice to be able to talk about products that garner less recognition and this month’s Little Bit Lavish Box allowed me to do exactly that by putting a host of unknown discoveries in the spotlight that I wouldn’t have known about otherwise. Delivering on all fronts and sticking to the theme throughout, the January gems edition was well rounded, included apt must-haves to weather proof our skin against the cold weather and contained mostly full size products, perfect for judging whether you like them or not. All in all, I think this was a pretty solid box, full of nice discoveries from both up and coming and niche brands, something I really love as it makes the unboxing so much more fun and exciting. The only down side for me was the fact that a couple of the products contained nuts but other than that I’ve certainly been introduced to quite a few gems and I think it’s safe to say that this might just be my favourite so far.

While it’s hard to be truly surprised anymore as a lot of the same brands/products keep popping up from box to box, Little Bit Lavish box have definitely steered away from this and feature things that pique my interest and is one of the reasons why this box really shines.  I’ve had quite a few boxes now and I can honestly say it really is a great one to have.
