Since their very first launch in the UK, I was one of many to join My Little Box on their exciting journey and that it was for a good year or so but unfortunately in 2015 I decided to pull the plug on a box that just didn’t wow me anymore so I’m hoping that now I’ve had a little break maybe I’ll be able rekindle that love again! With the cold weather spell now passed (I hope!) their February edition which is themed Mountains with a hint of hygge does seem like it should have been featured last month but as we are still officially in winter territory it does include some apt skin care alongside some other seasonal appropriate lifestyle treats which of course match perfectly with the overall theme. Something which they’ve definitely sustained though is those extra little touches in the form of the artwork and the attention to detail – the little details really do go a long way when it comes to an unboxing!

My Little Box is a hand-picked and beautifully designed box of beauty, fashion and lifestyle surprises. With fashion accessories, beauty products and other goodies created exclusively for you and based around a different theme every month, each box promises to delight their subscribers. They also produce their very own in-house beauty products known as My Little Beauty.

Here’s what they featured inside their February edition:

1. The Beauty Products – 3 Items

Each month My Little Box include 3-4 beauty products from both well-known and emerging brands, all of which are either are generous full sizes or samples:

Up first and something I really shouldn’t be excited about as I’ve already received it via another box this month is the Polaar Icy Magic Roll on (Full size £19.00) but I love it so much and I’m delighted I have another as a back-up. As well as doing all the standard stuff such as de-puffing, hydrating the skin under your eyes and reducing the appearance of dark circles it also claims to stimulate lash growth which is quite handy especially if you’re currently using separate products. This instant reviver feels ever so cooling on contact thanks to the roll-on tip and the formula itself is lightweight, sinks into the skin effortlessly and feels so, so good!

Being oily skinned you would have thought the Benefit POREfessional balm (sample size 7.5ml) was a welcomed addition but this offers no benefits to my skin whatsoever plus I don’t really think this sits well with the theme either if I’m honest not to mention the fact that the sample is teeny! Promising to minimise the appearance of pores & fine lines for smoother-than-smooth skin, this silky, lightweight balm can be used under or over makeup. The translucent formula contains a vitamin E derivative known to protect skin from free radicals.

Lastly on the beauty front is the French Kiss Lip Balm (Full Size) from their own collection, My Little Beauty. Shaped identical to an EOS lip balm this pretty much carries the same smooth and hydrating properties and I love that although the shade looks rather daring it’s actually very sheer and gives a rosy wash of colour, perfect for days when you’re rocking more of a natural make-up look.

2. Lifestyle Items

This month on the lifestyle front you can expect to see a Pin-on badge with the words ‘Coeur de Glace’ which means Heart of Ice. The badge is enclosed inside a tin which I’ll probably use to store some earrings but I don’t really think I’m going to get much use out of the badge if I’m honest but it is super cute!

Incorporating Hygge into their Mountains theme they’ve also partnered up with Stitch & Story this month and included a chunky snood knit pattern which comes with a plastic needle but you’ll need to source the wool and knitting needles yourself!

Satisfying the stationery addicts too, there’s also mountain shaped post-it-notes which will be accompanying me to work as someone’s always stealing mine!

Lastly is a pair of navy socks with sparkly silver thread and is probably the most exciting amongst the lifestyle items for me plus you can’t go wrong with a comfy pair of socks so these will get a lot of use.

My Verdict

There’s no arguing that My Little Box bring something very different to the subscription market with their combination of beauty and lifestyle goodies but after having over a year off I can’t say this edition particularly knocked my socks off (unintended pun there!) and admittedly their Mountains theme seemed an odd edition to receive this time of the year! Nonetheless everything other than the teeny Benefit Porefessional sample fitted in nicely with the theme and I felt that the box did strike a good balance to satisfy both beauty and lifestyle cravings. I loved that I received another Icy Magic Roll on and the socks and lip balm are definitely things that I’ll be able to make use out of so although I don’t feel like I’ve missed much since I unsubscribed I am looking forward to seeing what they come up with for March. By the way my box did arrive a hell of a lot quicker in comparison to when I was a subscriber in 2015 so that’s promising but I’m a little sad to see that the magazine which includes tip and tricks and some recipes has shrunk down in size! Value-wise, My Little Box still boasts good value for money and for only £13.95 a month I think it’s such an affordable option.
