If you’re looking for a cruelty-free subscription that’s make-up centric then the *Lip Love Bag is the perfect destination which not only allows you to experiment with a host of products and shades in the comfort of your home it excitingly also includes new launches from brands such as So Susan, Jelly Pong Pong and Trifle Cosmetics. For their February “Born to be Loved” edition they’ve featured a good selection of make-up focusing on the face, eyes and lips and as always you can expect to see your goodies inside a limited edition make up bag to match the theme.
The So Susan collection ranges from make-up to nail varnish combining their lovely portfolio of colours with science. Their philosophy is to create colours which last, are cruelty free and also much kinder to your skin. As well as the philosophy behind the brand, I love the feminine and pretty designed packaging which always stands out for me. I’ve tried quite a few products from their collection and already have quite a few firm favourites.
1. So Susan Liquid Matte in Moon Nude – Full Size RRP £11.24
First up we have the Liquid Matte in Moon Nude by So Susan and it’s a product I’ve been eagerly awaiting to see inside the Lip Love Bag as it’s one of their new launches. Typically Moon Nude is exactly that and looks absolutely hideous against my pale skin! Described as a highly pigmented liquid lipstick that gives you brilliant moisture without the stickiness and long-lasting colour without the flakiness, it’s formulated with Olive Oil, Cocoa Butter and Chamomile Extract to keep lips hydrated, smooth and supple. I can confirm that this definitely delivers formula-wise and it doesn’t make your lips crave moisture unlike other liquids mattes I’ve tried but it’s such a shame they choose such an unflattering shade!
2. So Susan Lip Brush – Full Size RRP £8.83
As well as all the make-up we of course need some tools and as of late So Susan have been including the odd brush here. This month you can expect to see their cruelty-free Lip Brush, it’s designed with the perfect bristle length and thickness to achieve fluid, even strokes of colour.
3. Trifle Cosmetics Sponge Bronzer – Full Size RRP £15.25
Described as a true game-changer, Trifle Cosmetic’s Sponge Bronzer started life as a fluffy mousse that was then liquefied, poured into pans and then allowed to set – allowing an ultra-smooth and seamless application.
4. Jelly Pong Pong Supercharged in Electric – Full Size RRP £18.46
Last but not least is the Jelly Pong Pong Supercharged Eyeshadow Duo in Electric, a stunning duo that’s so pretty and reminds me of spring. With a super intense, ground-breaking formula in a proprietary cream-powder concentrated base it allows extreme long wear and maximum pigment focus. I wasn’t too much of a fan of their Lightening palette from the very same collection but this is certainly the type of colours I go for and I love that the shades can be used individually or combined to achieve both a day and evening look.
My Verdict
If you favour make up over skin care then the So Susan Lip Love Bag is the perfect destination to get acquainted with a cruelty-free collection from brands such as So Susan, Jelly Pong Pong and Trifle Cosmetics plus it’s a guilt-free way to build up your make up stash without breaking the bank. Typically the one item I was excited to get my hands on turned out to be really disappointing shade-wise but the formula was promising so I hope they feature it again in another shade! Other than that I really liked the remainder with my firm favourites being the lip brush and the eyeshadow duo by Jelly Pong Pong. As always the bag features all full sized products so it’s incredible value for money and great for those who want to discover more skin friendly and cruelty-free alternatives.
