Today’s blog post features some perfume ramblings in the form of my *February Secret Scent Box review and thanks to these types of subscriptions I’ve accumulated a nice library of perfumes some of which I certainly wouldn’t have across otherwise. The Secret Scent Box is a monthly subscription that contains three surprise fragrances with at least 30 days use and with popular perfume houses within their portfolio it’s the perfect destination to trial new launches and classics in the comfort of your own home and also boasts being letter box friendly too so you don’t have to worry about missed deliveries!

Here’s what they featured inside their February edition:

1. Calvin Klein CK One Shock

Top Notes:
Passion Flower, Pink Peony, Poppy Flower. Middle Notes: Chocolate Accord, Blackberry, Narcisse. Base Notes: Magnetic Amber’s, Second Skin Musk

The last time I probably tried a scent from Calvin Klein was probably in my late teens and it was the ever so popular CK One, everyone was wearing it! I can’t say the brand actually appeals to me now but I am loving this spring inspired scent.

2. Tom Ford Orchid Soleil

Top Notes: Bitter Orange, Pink Pepper, Cypress. Middle Notes: Red Spider Lily, Tuberose. Base Notes: Vanilla, Chestnut Cream, Patchouli, Orchid.

I rarely appreciate rich and powerful fragrances and much prefer sweet floral mixes so I wasn’t too sure if I was going to like this scent from Tom Ford as I find a few of the scents a little overpowering for my delicate nose but to my delight this is actually quite nice and really is summer bottled up!

3. Tommy Hilfiger Tommy Girl

Top Notes: Camellia Flower, Apple Blossom, Mandarin. Middle Notes: Honeysuckle, Butterfly Violet, Rose. Base Notes: Magnolia, Sandalwood, Jasmine

A oldie but a goodie reminiscent of the 90’s is Tommy Girl, a refreshing energetic, spirited fragrance inspired by wild flowers gathered from the American landscape.

My Verdict

As someone who loves trying new scents and rediscovering old favourites, this is a great way to do exactly that without the commitment up front.  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve purchased a full sized fragrance on a whim to then decide after a month or two that I’m really not fond of the scent after all so with this in mind the Secret Scent Box is the perfect guilt-free destination to explore well known and classic fragrances in the comfort of your own home. With three good sized travel samples you’ll have at least 30 days use and I really appreciate the letter box friendly sized box as there’s nothing worse than missing a delivery plus everything’s packaged nice and snug meaning the samples are guaranteed to arrive in one piece!  While I love the element of surprise and the fact that the samples are great for travelling and carrying in the hand bag, I’m really picky when it comes to scents so if you’re like me then this may end up being a little hit or miss but luckily this month’s handpicked selection hit all the right notes for me and also reaquainted me with a true classic. I think the scent that surprised me the most was the Tom Ford Orchid Soleil, I really wasn’t expecting to like this as much as I do so thank you Secret Scent Box for featuring this high-end fragrance inside this month’s box.
