Today’s blog post features some perfume ramblings in the form of my *March Secret Scent Box so if you like experimenting with fragrances and wearing one that best fits the mood, this subscription will help you discover new favourites and old classics. Unfortunately this month’s hand picked selection features a couple of scents I’m not a fan of but it does feature Daisy from Marc Jacobs so I guess there’s no harm in having a travel size version as I already own the full size! If you’re new to Secret Scent Box, it’s a monthly subscription that contains three surprise fragrances with at least 30 days use and with popular perfume houses within their portfolio it’s the perfect destination to trial new launches and classics in the comfort of your own home and also boasts being letter box friendly too so you don’t have to worry about missed deliveries!

Here’s what they featured inside their March edition:

1. Marc Jacobs Daisy Shine Gold

Top Notes:
Strawberry, Violet Leaves. Middle Notes: Violet Petals, Jasmine Bouquet. Base Notes: Musk, Vanilla Infusion.

Launched in 2016, I thought this was a new scent from the Marc Jacob’s line but it is in fact the popular Daisy scent bottled up inside a limited edition bottle! I already own the full size version of this so this will definitely come in useful. Daisy is a sparkling floral bouquet, spirited and fresh, wrapped in comfort and warmth.

2. Burberry Weekend

Top Notes: Tangerine, Red Cyclamen, Blue Hyacinth. Middle Notes: Wild Rose, Peach Flower, Iris. Base Notes: Musk, Sandalwood and Cedarwood.

Burberry describes Weekend for Women as a “sparkling citrus floral fragrance” based on the “the spirit of outdoor escapes” and it’s bright and citrusy without being overly sweet.

3. Givenchy Amarige

Top Notes: Neroili, Plum, Orange Blossom. Middle Notes: Gardenia, Mimosa, Red Berries. Base Notes: Cashmerande, Amber and Vanilla.

I remember this scent so well, the memories it brings back is reminiscence of my youth but it just isn’t something I would reach for now.

My Verdict

Unfortunately this wasn’t my favourite offering from Secret Scent Box and as much as I like rediscovering the odd popular fragrance here and there from the 90’s I think I would have preferred something a little more modern or a new launch as I just can’t see myself wearing Amarige or Burberry Weekend if I’m honest. With three good sized travel samples you’ll have at least 30 days use and I really appreciate the letter box friendly sized box as there’s nothing worse than missing a delivery plus everything’s packaged nice and snug meaning the samples are guaranteed to arrive in one piece!  While I love the element of surprise and the fact that the samples are great for travelling and carrying in the hand bag, I’m really picky when it comes to scents so if you’re like me then this may end up being a little hit or miss however this the first time I’ve been disappointed so hopefully April’s selection makes up for this month’s shortfall. They also do a men’s box too so if you’re looking for gift for that special man in your life then it’s worth checking out Secret Scent Box.
