My March Cohorted Beauty Box has landed and if I’m completely honest I’m a little underwhelmed by the line up this month which happens from time to time in the subscription game as we all have different likes and needs but having said that there are a couple of highlights on board that I’m delighted to have received and can’t wait to try. Covering a good ground on the beauty front from hair care, make-up, nails and some pretty rose gold eyelash curlers the majority inside is full size and totals up to around £70.00.

If you’re new to Cohorted they offer a premium beauty box subscription which often includes big name brands we love and know and recently they’ve also started to include some up and coming brands too so it’s the perfect mix. Featuring both full sizes and the occasional travel sample here and there you can expect to see all areas of beauty covered from skin care, make-up, hair, nails and some make-up tools.

Their March edition showcases the brands Pur Minerals, Vintage Cosmetics, Living Proof, Urban Decay and Lancome all of which are beautifully presented inside their signature black box secured with a ribbon giving it a very luxurious look and feel.

Up first and quite possibly the only product that’s really sparked my interest is the Pur Minerals Secret Crush Eyeshadow Palette (RRP £25.00), a brand I only come across this month who specialise in best in skin-perfecting mineral-based makeup and skincare solutions that also boast from being paraben and cruelty-free. When it comes to eyeshadows I definitely lean more towards neutral hues so I was stoked to see this palette and it’s filled with some glorious neutrals perfect for creating a multitude of looks. The sturdy packaging, the makeup brush, the beautiful shimmers and the pigmentation definitely makes this a worthy buy for any neutral palette lover.

We only saw products from Living Proof in January so I’m a little disappointed to see them featured again however I’ve had a positive experience with their products so far so it’s not all bad! The Living Proof 4-in-1 Styling Treatment (Travel Size 60ml RRP £15.00) is a multi-purpose product that styles and treats the hair in one step, for effortless beautiful hair. Powered by their patented Healthy Hair Molecule (OFPMA) and their Thickening Molecule (PBAE), the 5-in-1 Styling Treatment delivers the five benefits for beautiful healthy looking hair in one easy step – smoothness, volume, conditioning, strength and polish and is ideal for all hair types. It is also silicone-free, safe and formulated for colour and chemically treated hair.

Up next is the Urban Decay Naked Skin Bronzing Beauty Balm (Full size 35ml RRP £23.50), a five-in-one, luminous bronzing beauty balm that promises to instantly enrich skin tone, minimise flaws, supports firmer skin in just eight weeks and also benefits from SPF 20 sun protection with a formula that’s light weight and oil-free. I don’t usually mind tinted skin care inside my boxes to add a little warmth to my pale complexion however this isn’t not a universal product and was a little risky to include. Anyway despite looking forward to trying this it turned out to be a huge disappointment and is way too orange!

I love The Vintage Cosmetic Company but unfortunately their Eyelash Curlers (RRP £7.00) are something I already own but I guess there’s no harm in having a back-up. Dressed in rose gold these are so so dainty and pretty looking and will not fail to stand out amongst your beauty tools.

Lastly is the Lancome Absolue Yeux Repairing Eye Care (Sample size 3ml) which appears to be a space filler in my opinion although some subscribers did receive a full sized nail varnish so it’s not exactly like for like when take into account the size of the product! Containing a powerful combination of ingredients including Pro–Xylane™, the formula has been shown to hydrate skin, skin feels denser and the eye area appears repaired, puffiness reduced and looks visibly rejuvenated.

My Verdict

This month’s edit unfortunately just wasn’t a personal favourite of mine and I’ve definitely seen them do a hell of a lot better in the past, I guess it just didn’t have that wow factor this month plus it included a couple of repeated brands from previous editions not to mention the fact that some people received a 3ml Lancome sample as opposed to a full size nail varnish or a lip liner which hardly seems fair in my eyes. This month’s line-up was definitely hit and miss for me but there’s a couple of highlights that I’m happy to have been introduced to such as the Pur Minerals Eyeshadow Palette and the Living Proof styling cream. Value-wise the contents total up to around £70 which isn’t bad providing that you’ll use the majority of the products. Here’s to hoping they pull out all the stops for April.
