It’s been a while since I last featured a review of the *Pip Box in fact it was February when they first launched their wonderful cruelty-free subscription so I’m delighted to welcome them back to the blog and show you what goodies are nestled inside their May edit – it’s a good one and is themed ‘Get Ready to Glow’ which is rather apt as the we near the summer months. Having peeked at a couple of spoilers on their Instagram page, a couple of the products had already sparked my interest and I’m pleased to report it’s a good all-rounder and the perfect destination to explore a host of cruelty-free brands and products. If you’re new to Pip Box then they are a strictly cruelty-free beauty subscription and their boxes contain 5 beauty treats, which will be a mix of full sized products and travel sized treats ranging from make-up, skincare, body and hair care products from organic and natural to multi-award winning brands. Their subscriptions start from £13.50 depending on the plan you opt for but you’ll also be pleased to know that 50p from each box sold goes to an animal friendly charity.

Here’s a quick overview of what’s inside the May Pip Box:

Up first and just one of the products that really piqued my interest is this squidgy Mini Konjac Pore Refiner Sponge (RRP £6.99) by The Konjac Sponge Company. I’ve tried a quite a few of their sponges in the past so I was really excited to see one of their new launches from their Pore Refiner Collection among the line-up. Packed full of green French clay known for being one of nature’s strongest antiseptics and pure Konjac, this mini green Konjac Sponge oozes natural goodness for those who have oily or combination skin and promises to cleanse, exfoliate, refine pores and it’s mini size can also cleanse under the eye area. While my cleanser alone does do a pretty great job, adding in a Konjac sponge really does take your skincare to the next level and I can’t wait to give this ago plus it’s been a while since I got this excited about a skincare product!

The Fruu Fresh Strawberry Lip Balm (Full size RRP £2.99) is something I am actually wearing as I type this and it smells so incredible that you’ll struggle not to lick this off! What’s special about this all-natural lip balm is the waxy lightweight film it creates on your lips, the finish is more satiny, leaning toward matte, so men can use it too! It contains enriching strawberry seed oil and coconut oil and is also infused with Aloe Vera which calms and hydrates in addition to Vitamin E to combat free radicals and pollutants. If strawberry isn’t your thing then Fruu make these lip balms in an array of flavours so you’re bound to find a favourite!

Up next we have the White Rabbit Lime and Coconut Water (Sample size 30ml RRP £3.50)a cruelty-free and vegan skincare company based in Scotland and all their products are exclusively handmade in small batches to ensure freshness and quality. Described as “the funkiest, freshest means of removing your makeup”, it promises to remove all traces in addition to cleansing your skin quickly and easily and is suitable for all skin types too. I came across this via another box and it’s a lovely cleanser that leaves the skin refreshed but just don’t use it anywhere near your eyes as it stings so bad!

On the make-up front is the subtle yet beautiful Make Me Shimmer by Saturated Colour (Full size RRP £6.00), a highlighting pencil packed with gold shimmer that has a multitude of uses such as adding sparkle to your cupids bow, as a highlighter under your brows or you can swipe it over your lipstick for a frosted finish.

Last but not least is the Weleda Mini Body Oil (Sample size worth £3.99), infused with precious organic evening primrose oil, sensitively combined with velvety jojoba and ultra-nourishing wheat-germ oil. The oil promises to not only nourish your skin but it lifts your sprits too thanks to it being naturally perfumed with cardamom, magnolia, and sandalwood for a revitalising fresh, floral fragrance.

My Verdict

I think you’ll agree, this month’s Pip Box offered such an amazing selection of cruelty-free, vegan and natural beauty goodies to delve into and everything they handpicked was excellent quality and the sizes of the products were generous all-around too.  It’s hard to pick a favourite as I can see myself getting use out of all products but from what I have tried so far I love the highlighter and the lip balm. I am perhaps the most excited and very intrigued by the Pore Refiner Sponge as I’ve had such a positive experience with the Konjac Sponge Company so I can’t wait to incorporate this into my existing regime. All in all, Pip Box have once again introduced me to a number of beautiful and interesting products and it’s an edition I’ve thoroughly enjoyed unboxing. If you want to explore more cruelty-free options or thinking of making the switch then I highly recommend checking out this subscription.
