Who doesn’t love a birthday celebration? This month, Little-Known Box turned one and celebrated with a fabulous array of beauty products for their subscriber with a theme centred around getting our summer glow on. Founded in 2016, I’ve followed their journey right from the very start and I must admit they’ve mastered their concept which is of course to put unknown, up and coming and under the radar brands in the spotlight month on month and I myself have come across quite a few favourites which I’ve gone on to repurchase. Covering a good area of beauty there’s so much to love about their May edition, it’s a great all-rounder, does exactly what is intends to and nestled inside is a very generous seven products majority of which are full sized – we’ve been rather spoilt!

Little-Known Box promises to ship 5-6 products to you per month, to discover, try and enjoy at home. In addition to monthly subscriptions they also offer gift subscriptions and one-off boxes, providing a truly flexible beauty subscription experience! Featured brands are carefully selected and include full and sample size luxury products from skincare, makeup, hair, body and grooming products to nail care, nail art, lifestyle and beauty accessories (with the occasional surprise thrown in!). You might see some well-known brands featured, but they will be little-known products or new launches!

Without further ado here’s what they featured inside their May edition:

When it comes to taking off the day, I’ve been known to be a little lazy especially after a night out so although I try not to use face wipes they do come in handy for those emergency kind of situations! The Seacret Make Up wipes (Pack of 25 RRP £19.95) are a very generous addition to the line-up and these oil-based wipes promise to effectively remove waterproof makeup while also providing hydration and are suitable for all skin types. I’m not sure I’d spend that amount on a pack of face wipes so it will be interesting to see how these compare to what I currently use which are a fraction of the price!

Up next on the skin care front is the Ooh! Organic Argan Moisture Retention Face Oil (Travel size 15ml), a cold pressed organic Argan oil from Argan Kernels which is rich in Vitamin E and essential fatty acids such as Linoleic Acid, Linolenic Acid and Oleic Acid, perfect for regenerating tissue and helping the skin retain its natural moisture.

Betty Hula is a brand I was introduced to when I first discovered beauty subscriptions boxes which was a good few years ago so it was lovely to reacquainted with them again in the form of their Rum & Blackcurrant Shea Butter Moisturising Cream  (Full size 120ml RRP £12.99). This moisturiser which is inspired by the Pacific Islands is a win-win situation and not only hydrates and protects the skin but it also delivers a gorgeous summer scent that smells so, so good. This sweet smelling moisturiser with notes of blackcurrant and a hint of rum contains good for you ingredients such as Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Coconut Oil, Aloe Vera and Vitamin E and promises to relieve signs of stretch marks, scaring, dry/sensitive skin, combination skin, oily skin and can also be used for soothing sun burn. The cream has a great texture and keeps my skin hydrated all day plus the scent lingers for a while too so you can definitely get away with not wearing any perfume. I think this would be lovely to take on holiday.

Moving onto make-up we have a new launch from Technic Cosmetics and it’s their beautiful Get Gorgeous Highlighting Powder (Full size RRP £3.49) which defines and enhances your cheek and eye area in the shade ‘Pink Sparkle’. This highlighter is ever so pretty and does apply a little chalky but once blended out it gives a subtle sheen of shimmer which can be built upon if you want more glow! It’s not the best highlighter in the world but you really can’t wrong when it you take into account the price.

I have so many make-up brushes but I guess there’s no harm in adding some more to the collection and the Nanshy Large Blending Brush (RRP £5.95), feels soft to the touch, is cruelty-free, 100% Vegan with synthetic bristles.

If you’ve not heard of Spacemasks (x1 RRP £3.00) where have you been, they are everywhere right now on social media! The company very kindly sent me one to trial a couple of weeks ago and I absolutely loved it so I’m delighted to have another one as this certainly boasts some great benefits. This genius eye mask warms and alleviates strain on your eyes which in turn aids in calming you down and relaxing your mind from long days of work, excessive screen staring, stress and headaches. The mask gently heats up and lasts around 15 minutes and definitely helped me to relax and drift off into sleep!

Lastly and a bonus item is a Make-up Pouch (RRP £4.49) which matches Little-known Box’s branding.

My Verdict

As someone who’s tried many boxes it’s hard to be truly surprised anymore as a lot of the same brands/products keep popping up from box to box, but Little-Known Box have definitely steered away from this and feature things that spark my interest mainly from lesser known brands making the unboxing experience so much more fun and exciting and is just one of the reasons why this box really shines and their celebratory 1st birthday box is no exception.  After a successful year in the beauty box business, Little-known box have gone all out to treat their subscribers and I think you’ll agree their May edition was a very successful interpretation of a summer glow themed box. Line-up wise, the majority was full sized, everything gelled together well with a good variety of beauty and featured new launches from brands I’m already familiar with in addition to some new finds too and excitingly everything seems very useable so that’s definitely a bonus! My favourites so far are moisturising cream and the highlighter but I’m also delighted that I have another space mask in my possession! This month’s box is worth aroud £49.87 so it’s definitely worth subscribing. Happy Birthday Little-known Box here’s to many more years!
