I love a birthday celebration and for September Look Fantastic are celebrating their third birthday so first things first Happy Birthday – I can’t believe it’s been 3 years since they launched their beauty box, doesn’t time fly! With this in mind and to mark this milestone they’ve featured a host of all things beauty and an adorable lollipop accompanied by fun designed box which of course is dressed for the occasion – I wouldn’t expect anything less! Touching on all areas of beauty, there’s quite a few winners inside this edit and as always includes a generous mixture of full sizes and samples from popular brands and those that are a little unknown not forgetting the latest copy of Elle Magazine which is such a lovely bonus.

The Look Fantastic box offers a selection of handpicked, must have beauty fixes wrapped in a beautifully presented box and delivered straight to your door. The beauty box will always include a minimum of six products and offers a selection of skin care, hair care, cosmetics and body products, catering for every beauty lover.

This month’s box showcases products from Look Fantastic’s own brand, Illamasqua, Hikari, Christophe Robin, Decleor, Eve Lom and Holly’s Lollies.

Here’s what I received inside my September Box:

Up first and something that I’m really intrigued about is the Christophe Robin Cleansing Volumizing Paste (Travel Size 40ml), a pure Rassoul Clay and Rose Extract based deep cleansing, shampoo-like treatment with a unique consistency and volume-boosting benefits. Benefiting from a 85% natural-based formula, the paste-like texture transforms into a lightweight foam and the pure Rassoul Mineral Clay which is known for its rich in trace-elements works to absorb dirt, oil and impurities while densifying each follicle for enhanced strength, lift and thickness from the root. It also contains extracts of Baobab Leaf and Centifolia Rose Water that imparts a soft, supple texture, with antioxidant properties to help combat free radical damage and protect colour vitality. Free from parabens, silicone, SLS and colorants.

If you love make-up then this month’s edit has not one but two make-up treats and the first product is the Illamasqua Mini Contouring Gel Sculpt (Travel Size 4g) in the shade Silhouette which is dark brown hue. Admittedly, I kind of gasped when I saw the shade as it looked a hell of a lot more darker than what I usually go for but surprisingly it isn’t that harsh at all once you apply it! This unique contouring gel offers subtle definition to cheeks with ease and the hue of Silhouette creates a delicate shadow under cheekbones and along the jawline which can be blended with ease to achieve beautiful, natural contours. This was very easy to work with and can also be built up to achieve a more dramatic look but most of all I loved the subtle finish this left. I didn’t think I would get on with this at all as I usually go for powder products to contour but surprisingly this turned out to be one of my favourite items from this month’s line-up.

Sticking to make-up, you can also expect to see an Eye Shadow Quad in Tonya from US brand Hikari (Full Size RRP $15.00) and the shades are so appropriate for autumn. Housed in a compact palette, Hikari promise a highly pigmented formula and an easy to blend, long lasting eye shadow. The fours shades are called Buttercup, Amaretto, Pizzazz, Russet.

Up next and to accompany the palette above is the Look Fantastic Unicorn Eye Shadow Brush, a brush that’s been created solely for their Birthday edit and I think you’ll agree that it’s absolutely gorgeous.

Moving onto skin care we have the Decleor Hydra Floral Anti-Pollution Hydrating Gel-Cream (Sample Size 15ml), a gel-cream that helps to hydrate skin and reinforce its barrier, whilst creating a protective layer against pollution particles. It promises to reveal a beautiful smoothed skin texture, with a complexion that looks luminous and the unique formulation includes microdroplets of oils in a 70% water-based texture to deliver immediate hydration and benefits from the extract of anti-inflammatory Centella Asiatica which instantly helps to sooth delicate skin.

Up next and the only dud for me inside this month’s box due to the fact it’s been featured a few times already is the Eve Lom Cleanser (Travel size 20ml) + Muslin Cloth. Suitable for even the most sensitive skin, this pioneering cult beauty balm which featured in Vogue Magazine was recognised as probably the best cleanser in the world. Whilst its heavenly formula removes traces of make-up including waterproof mascara it also works well as decongesting, toning and exfoliating the skin gently. The scent is really nice too and stems from a bespoke blend of skin loving ingredients such as Chamomile, Eucalyptus, Cloves and Hops.

Lastly and sticking to the celebratory theme is a sweet treat from Holly Lollies in the form of an Elderflower Lollipop (RRP £3.50) which is such a lovely touch for this month’s edit.

My Verdict

Celebrating their third birthday, this month’s Look Fantastic edit did exactly what it intended and really did feel like a true treat thanks to the addition of some high end brands and the fact they also managed to cram in seven products which was such a lovely bonus. Line-up wise this edition had quite a few winning products such as the eye shadow palette which contains the perfect mix of colours for autumn, the Illamasqua Gel Sculpt was a gem in disguise as I was initially really put off by the shade and of course the pretty unicorn make-up brush. The only item I felt underwhelmed by was the Eve Lom Cleanser only because it’s been featured quite a few times already so it’s a shame they decided to include it again. Other than that, though, I’m really looking forward to trying out the remainder.

I’ve followed Look Fantastic’s journey right from the very start and it’s a box that continues to grow from the box designs which are always so, so pretty, the expertly curated themes to the brands they source for us each month – apart from the occasional product repeats I really can’t fault their boxes and with subscriptions starting from £13.00 you can’t go wrong.
