Happy New Year everyone! To kick start 2018, today’s blog post features my unboxing and review of the newly launched My Made in Box who are a bi-monthly beauty and lifestyle subscription who travel the world and showcase their new finds straight to our letterboxes! Their first ever debut takes us on a little journey to London and includes five locally handmade items from organic & natural skincare to fashion accessories. While the majority of the brands were already familiar to me which was of course inevitable seeing as though the box is focused around UK brands, there’s quite a few products I’ve not had the opportunity to try so that’s promising start plus the sizes were generous all-round.

Every month, My Made in Box select a country and search for unique brands/products you will adore receiving. Once landed in the country, they head off to the local markets to find inspiration, get to know more about the craftsmanship of the country & listen to independent makers’ stories. Subscriptions start from £35.00 depending on the plan you opt for and if you are interested in pressing that subscribe button they currently have a sale on their 6 month and 12 month plan.

Here’s what they featured inside their Dec/Jan edition:

Up first we have the Gentle Scrub from Skin & Tonic (Travel Size RRP £9.00), a brand that’s committed to creating beautiful, sustainable beauty products that are good for both our skin and the planet. Containing Oat, Rosehip and French Pink Clay, the face scrub gently detoxifies leaving your skin feeling soft and nourished and you simply just add a little water to make a paste.

Sticking to skin care and next out of the box is the Soothe Me Skin Calm Cream (Full Size RRP £8.50) and is packed with calming herbal extracts of Yarrow, Horse Chestnut and gentle Organic wild farmed Which hazel, all rich in anti-inflammatory properties to help reduce redness and inflammation. This thick treatment cream targets rosacea & redness neither of which I suffer with so I’m a little sad that they didn’t include something more universal.

On the lifestyle front is the Lucie Ellen Monochrome Speckled Necklace (RRP £16.00) which is made from painted plywood in a speckled monochrome style described as modern yet elegant and hangs from a brass plated chain. This is such a unique piece of jewellery and will team up well with quite a few outfits.

Up next and something to help us sleep is the Made by Coopers Room and Pillow Mist (Travel size RRP £6.00 , a relaxing mist with essential oils to help you sleep infused with calming lavender, soothing chamomile and frankincense.

Lastly amongst the line-up is a Greeting card (RRP £2.00) by Mosley London and I absolutely love the design and the fact that you can add your own personal message inside.

My Verdict
So there you have it, the first ever My Made in Box debut! While I absolutely love the idea behind this box and the opportunity to explore products from around the world, I just wasn’t wowed by the beauty products this month but the addition of the lifestyle products definitely made a nice change to mix things up a little plus they did stick to the theme throughout. I am very aware that they’re new to the subscription market but for me personally the price is a little too inflated for what it is but other than that I think this particular subscription definitely has the potential to be great one so I’m looking forward to seeing their little journey in 2018.
