The Pip Box monthly subscription service is quickly becoming one of my favourites for discovering cruelty-free and non-toxic beauty and in today’s blog post I’ll be sharing what I received inside their January edition. Covering an excellent area of beauty, this month’s line-up has it all from makeup to skin and body care and showcases a host of new finds in the form of both good sized samples and full sizes from some of my favourite cruelty-free brands.

If you’re new to Pip Box then they are a strictly cruelty-free beauty subscription and their boxes contain 5 beauty treats, which will be a mix of full sized products and travel sized treats ranging from make-up, skincare, body and hair care products from organic and natural to multi-award winning brands. Their subscriptions start from £13.50 depending on the plan you opt for but you’ll also be pleased to know that 50p from each box sold goes to an animal friendly charity.

So without further ado here are all the goodies that featured inside this month’s box:

First out of the box we have the Medusa Witch Lash Mascara in the shade Black Noir (Full Size RRP £9.99), a lengthening & volumizing Mascara with a flexible rubber brush and a vegan formula. Mascara is always a challenge for me, usually, the deciding factors on a mascara for me is the formula, the brush and it must lengthen!  When I opened the Medusa Mascara, I was immediately excited about the flexible brush and it does without a doubt do a good job separating the lashes but unfortunately it wasn’t so great on the lengthening front – still very usable though especially on the bottom lashes as it doesn’t clump!

Moving onto skin care is the Balm Balm Hibiscus Face Mask (Sample size £2.00). This gentle yet effective combination of brown rice flour, ground hibiscus and rose geranium essential oil promises to deep cleanse and exfoliate your skin. You simply add water to create an absorbent paste which gently draws out impurities from the skin as it dries. I’m not a huge fan of powder masks and much prefer ones that are ready to apply but this one smells really lovely so I’ll definitely give it a go.

Anyone else so over the coffee scrub craze? I am and unfortunately the Optiat Coffee Hungover Scrub (Travel Size 90g RRP £6.99) was probably my least favourite inside this month’s edit as these types of scrubs not only are messy but it makes the bath/shower surface very slippery! Nonetheless it’s a generous deluxe size and contains a blend of used Arabica coffee grounds and peppermint essential oils, Potent Peppermint perks up your mood after a night on the town. The coffee grounds act as a natural exfoliator, whilst the caffeine stimulates blood flow, effective against cellulite and stretch marks

Body washes are definitely one of my favourite things to receive inside beauty boxes and thanks to a previous Pip Box I very quickly fell in love with the Green Frog Botantics body wash so I’m delighted they’ve included a different one for us to try. The Rose and Neroli Body Wash (Travel Size 100ml RRP £3.95) promises to revitalise your skin with the magical qualities of certified organic soapberries which is grown in Himalayan mountains and is extremely gentle and respects the pH of your skin. The combination of moisturising aloe vera, zesty, rejuvenating neroli and uplifting rose scent in this body wash gently cleanses dry, irritated skin and lift your mood.

Last out of the box and another favourite is the vegan-friendly Lucky Cloud Skincare Lip Butter (Full size £4.50) that’s enriched with coconut & cocoa butters, sweet almond & thistle oil along with vitamin e oil. It also claims to be ‘Not too sticky’ and spreads onto your lips with ease! Did I mention it smells just like vanilla milkshake!

My Verdict

This month’s Pip Box was filled with a lovely selection of beauty treats to help nourish, protect, and restore our skin and it couldn’t have come at a better time as it’s the perfect pick me up especially if you’ve had a hectic December! Line-up wise, I really enjoyed the variety this month and especially love how everything smells – from the body wash and the mask, to the lip balm. My favorites so far include the body wash (it smells so good!) and the lip balm because you can never have enough in the winter months!

If you want to explore more cruelty-free options or thinking of making the switch then I highly recommend checking out the Pip Box plus they also include some discount codes which you can redeem via the brands featured.

February Spoiler: Celebrating their 1st birthday, next month’s box is worth over £45!
