With the recent reality that my nail varnish collection is growing excessively out of control and the fact that my husband keeps threatening to confiscate my debit card, I’ve been a little nail polish deprived lately and admittedly I’ve actually been very good on the no-buy front well that was until Hayley at Danglefoot Nail Polish tempted me with one of her new releases! Anyway the bad influence doesn’t stop there as there’s a new nail subscription in town that launched in November (you can read more about them here) and they’ve very kindly sent me over their January edit… cue the Mani & Lola Box – isn’t it just adorable! If you’re a regular reader, you’ll know I’m a sucker for pretty packaging and their presentation does not disappoint and is just so aesthetically pleasing with loveable contents to match from brands we all love and know in addition to some new discoveries too.

Without further ramblings from me about my nail polish obsession, here’s what goodies I received inside their January edition and how I’ll be incorporating the products into my current nail care routine:

Just like skin care I also have my very own nail care routine and the most important step to get those salon looking nails is of course the prepping part (also known as the boring part!) and I usually start with a quick clean-up of the cuticle and then I try to file my nails as evenly as I can (which never happens!) so I’m looking forward to trying out the Mani & LolaCushioned 100/180 Nail Shaper (RRP £2.95) which is designed to lightly shape and smooth over any imperfections to get your nails in tip-top condition and into a neat and tidy shape – here’s to hoping!

Next, I’ll moisturise my hands to soften my cuticles and re-hydrate the entire nail/hand area with whatever is nearest, usually it’s just a hand or body cream however I do enjoy hand masks to make the experience that little more pampering so the Skin Republic Hand Repair Intensive Hand Mask (x1 RRP £5.50) is very welcomed addition. Enriched with moisture boosting Collagen, rich Shea Butter with revitalising Vitamin E and 7 Plant Extracts this intensive treatment helps to soothe, soften and rejuvenate dry, rough hands. Mani & Lola have also sneeked in the Cuccio Milk and Honey Body Butter (RRP £4.99) which provides an intense hydrating treatment to leave your skin feeling silky smooth and also adds vital nutrients while lactic acid from milk refreshes and stimulates the skin.

Once my  hands are all lotion-ed up, I’ll relax for a few minutes and give everything some time to soak in before I wipe my nails with a little polish remover and then it’s time for the most exciting part – the painting and this month’s Mani & Lola Box includes not one but four different nail varnishes to play with! The first nail varnish out of the box is the OPI Nail Envy Polish in Samoan Sand (Full size RRP £18.40) which promises to provide maximum strengthening with hydrolyzed wheat protein and calcium for longer, stronger, natural nails while adding a tint of colour to your nails too – it’s the perfect 9-5 hue.

Up next is the China Glaze New Year New Boo nail varnish (Full size RRP £8.95), a stunning vibrant indigo with deep midnight blue undertones whose true beauty really comes to life when applied!

Lastly we have the Artistic Colour Revolution nail polish (Full size RRP £9.95) in the shade Shred It Up and the Butter London polish (Full size RRP £15.00) in Flusher Blusher and I’m not going to lie but they are not colours I would usually reach for this time of the year but hey these types of boxes are all about pushing you outside of your comfort zone! This is my first introduction to both brands and shade-wise are the perfect options to step into spring with.

My Verdict

I love receiving nail polish inside my beauty boxes but let’s face it I’d rather just have ALL the polish…so the January Mani & Lola Box turned out to be a great option for me and even included some nail treatments! As you can see this month’s edit was a complete kit from start to finish which is exactly what I look for in a nail subscription box and although the colour palette was a little off for this time of the year (I was expecting to see more dark and nude nail varnishes on board) I love that they included some cheerful brights as they are the perfect transitional shades for stepping into spring with. I think Flusher Blusher and New Year, New Boo are my absolute favourites out of the four however they are all unique and fabulous in their own way plus it was exciting to see some new brands that I’ve not tried before. It’s  safe to say I am head over heals in love with this box, it’s beautifully packaged, generous with full sized products and incredible value for money.
