Whether you’re going out for a night on the town with your girlfriends this Valentine’s Day or heading to a fancy restaurant with your other half, this month’s Secret Scent Box has got you covered to suit the occasion. As much as I love a bottle of perfume and admiring those beautiful bottles proudly displayed on my dressing table, it’s an expensive habit and in all honesty I don’t think I’ve ever finished a full size as the scent just deteriorates over time so these types of sampling services are not only a great way to find your signature scent but you’re also more likely to finish the sprays meaning less wastage!

If you’re new to Secret Scent Box, it’s a monthly subscription that contains three surprise fragrances with at least 30 days use and with popular perfume houses within their portfolio it’s the perfect destination to trial new launches and classics in the comfort of your own home and also boasts being letter box friendly too so you don’t have to worry about missed deliveries!

Here’s what they featured inside their February edition:

1. Gucci Bloom

Top Notes: Rangoon Creeper, Heart Notes: Jasmine Bud, Base Notes: Natural Tuberose

I very recently received a sample of this and it really is spring in a bottle. It’s an absolutely gorgeous fragrance that I never knew I needed in my life so I’m delighted that I can hold off buying the full size for time being!

2. FCUK for Her

Top notes: Aquatic Iris, Citrus. Heart notes: Barringtonia, Peony, Violet, Jasmine. Base notes: Sandalwood, Cedar, Amber, Vanilla

It’s been years since I’ve tried a scent from French Connection! This is a very delicate fresh fragrance but it’s nothing extraordinary or something that makes me go “OMG” – okay for everyday though!

3. Davidoff Cool Water

Top notes: Pineapple, Quince, Blackcurrant, Lily, Melon, Lemon, Lotus, Calone. Heart notes: Honey, Hawthorn, Jasmine, Water Lily, Lily-of-the-Valley, Lotus, Rose. Base notes: Blackberry, Violet Root, Sandalwood, Musk, Raspberry, Vanilla, Peach, Vetiver

The men’s version is a true classic and I was never a fan of it if I’m honest (reminds me of all the boys at secondary school who thought they were really cool!). This floral aquatic fragrance captures the essence of water in an original combination of aquatic, ozonic, and botanical notes. On the first spritz it did smell quite fresh — I smelt citrus, which I like, but it’s not too overpowering as the light florals definitely soften the scent which in turn makes it easy to wear. I really didn’t think I would like this but it’s actually quite nice!

My Verdict

I love experimenting with new scents and forever searching for that one perfect concoction that takes me to my happiest place and is just one of the reasons why the Secret Scent Box really appeals to me. Their February edition featured an apt variety of girly and sexy scents in time for Valentines Day and it was a lovely bonus to see an already firm favourite of mine in in the form of Gucci Bloom. I think the scent that surprised me the most though was the Davidoff Cool Water – I really wasn’t expecting to like this at all! If you frequently like to mix up your perfume and don’t want to commit to buying full size bottles, or  want to experiment a bit then it’s worth checking out this subscription.
