Out with the new and in with the old with a few modern twists thrown in…say hello to the April ‘Nostalgia’ Glossybox which takes us on a little journey through the decades. This month’s edition is inspired by those timeless trends which still continue to be emulated again and again even today and features mainly make-up which is a nice break from all the lotions and potions. In addition to all the new discoveries on board, the line up also includes all full sizes, an exclusive ModelCo x Karl Lagerfied collaboration and wait for it…a limited edition unicorn shower gel from Imperial Leather – day made thanks Glossybox!

If you’re new to Glossybox, it’s a monthly subscription box that comes packed with both deluxe-sized and full-size products and covers all areas of beauty from skin care, hair, nails, make-up and everything else in between from brands we all love and know as well as those hidden gems too! The box costs £13.25 per month and contains contents which always exceed the overall subscription price.

Without further ado here’s what I received inside my April Glossybox:

Up first and something all subscribers will receive is an exclusive baked blush (Full Size RRP £31.00) by ModelCo who have teamed up with Karl Lagerfield for this beautiful creation. This blush brightens, highlights every complexion and the micronized colour pigments deliver a sheer natural radiance that lasts all day. I love that Glossybox included this exclusive before it hit the shelves!

You can never go wrong with black liquid liner in my book, however, I’ve already got a few of the Eyeko Fat Liquid Eyeliners (Full size RRP £16.00) sitting in my back-up stash so for me personally this didn’t excite me at all! Having said that though I am fan of felt tip applicators and this one is like a chunky felt tip and gives a reasonable thick and thin line. The pigmentation of the eyeliner is very black and striking, something which I really love but the only downside is these types of liners have a habit of drying out!

Sticking to make-up we have the Affect Matt Effect Transparent Loose Rice Powder (Full Size RRP £9.35) which is a two-component powder and does not contain preservatives minimizing the chances of allergies. The combination of mica and rice starch gives a perfect matt finish. I’ve never tried a rice powder before but this sounds ideal for the likes of me who has oily skin. It also sets lipstick too!

Next out of the box and fuelling my love for unicorns is the Imperial Leather Unicorn Marshmallow Foam Burst (Full size 300ml RRP £3.15) and is another limited edition which I hope is a permanent addition within Imperial Leather’s collection. This magical body wash is infused with Marshmallow extract (and Unicorn power) set to make you feel like you’re on top of a rainbow! The unique gel transforms into a creamy cloud that glides across your skin like super soft silk and promises to leave your skin feeling effortlessly soft, cleansed and moisturised. Did I mention the bottle guarantees you up to 40 intensely, rich showers!

Last but not least and dressed in pink is the Glossybox Angled Brush (RRP £5.50) which can be used for the lips, eyes or brows and is something that everyone will be able to get use out of.

My Verdict

I have to say, I am very impressed with all the products featured inside this month’s box! It was full of products I’ll enjoy using and there was definitely more emphasis on make-up this month versus the March Glossybox, which was a nice change, even more so when you find products that you can turn to everyday. Also there was no dud shades on the make-up front which is another plus in my book! I’ve not had a chance to try everything as of yet but standouts so far include the blush which adds a nice subtle glow, the angled brush is the perfect size for applying lipstick and of course the Unicorn Shower Foam – it smells so, so good and works amazingly well as a shaving foam too! Glossybox has been really impressing me recently! If you’re interested in a fun monthly subscription with a nice mix of items that tend to be even better than “deluxe” sizes- this one might be for you!

May Sneak Peek: All subscribers will receive a Shampoo and Conditioner duo from Maria Nila!
