Visiting my local department store counter to test out the latest and most popular perfumes seems to be a thing of the past since being introduced to fragrance subscription boxes! I’m not going to lie but I used to hate fragrance samples with a passion when I first ventured into beauty boxes, those tiny vials were among the worst things to receive in a beauty box, because they always felt like purposeless fillers. Oh, how my mind has changed since those days thanks to subscriptions like the Secret Scent Box who send out three surprise fragrances from new launches to true classics.
If you’re new to Secret Scent Box, it’s a monthly subscription that contains three fragrances with at least 30 days use and with popular perfume houses within their portfolio it’s the perfect destination to trial new launches and classics in the comfort of your own home and also boasts being letter box friendly too so you don’t have to worry about missed deliveries!
Here’s what they featured inside their April edition:
1. Joop Femme
Okay…I did turn my nose up at this as I’ve never warmed to the Joop fragrances and unfortunately this one didn’t convert me either! Originally released in 1987, Femme by Joop! is an Oriental fragrance for Women and explores essences of bergamot, lemon and coriander blended with notes of jasmine, lilly of the valley and cedar.
2. Armani Si Passione
Top notes: Pink Pepper, Blackcurrant Liqueur, Pear. Heart notes: Rose de Mai, Red Rose, Jasmine, Heliotrope. Base notes: Vanilla, Cedarwood
One of the great things about these subscriptions is occasionally you may receive a scent you’ve been wanting to try so I was really delighted to find the Armani’s Si Passione amongst the line-up this month.
3. Calvin Klein Beauty
Top notes: Citrus cocktail, Orange blossom Heart notes: Jasmine, Neo-lily Base notes: Cedarwood, Ambrette seeds
The more I venture into these boxes, the more I realise that I really haven’t got a clue about how many scents some of these brands have – I didn’t even know about this one from Calvin Klein! Beauty is described as evoking the ultimate power of femininity and sophistication, while capturing the spirit of a woman who is beautiful from the inside out, with an aura that radiates.
My Verdict
Apart from the Armani Si Passione, this month’s edit just wasn’t my kind of selection if I’m honest which of course will happen from time to time as perfume is such a personal preference. Having said that though I do love that I can sample a host of fragrances from popular perfume houses as well as brands that I wouldn’t normally go for plus having a 30-day supply is frankly all I need because I get bored so quickly if I wear the same perfume too often! If you frequently like to mix up your perfume and don’t want to commit to buying full size bottles, or want to experiment a bit then it’s worth checking out this subscription.
