Friction Free Shaving Review – September 2018

I’m back today with another shaving subscription review and this one has actually been around for a while now so some of you may already be familiar with Friction Free Shaving also known as FFS – something I’ve been known to say many times when I’ve got to shave! While these types of subscription want to change our razor-buying experience for the better, the ones I’ve tried are mostly marketed towards men so it was really pleasing to see something created for women and they’ve done such damn good job to make everything looks pretty. I’m sure you’ll agree shaving isn’t the most exciting of chores but this nifty little set really has you covered from the beautiful engraved razor, the blades and all the pre and post treatments for a complete fuss-free shave. Although their main concept is their razor and blade subscription I really like that they’ve put together a standalone set (£33.00) as it’s a great way to try out all of their products before you commit to their subscription plus it would make an amazing gift for a teen who’s just started to shave.

Now, everyone is different in terms of hair removal preferences but I shave my legs and underarms daily, sometimes every single day and even in the winter and therefore I depend on my razor daily! It needs to work well, last a long time and not cost me my life savings!

Let’s take a further look inside:

First out of the box is the world’s first metal razor designed for women which is available in two different colours Rose or Silvia and also includes free engraving of your choice. I opted for the rose gold version and my name to be engraved on the razor. Apart from looking aesthetically pleasing, the razor itself is light weight with an ergonomically designed handle and rubber coating on the reverse which really gives you a good grip and a comfortable shave. When it comes to the blades, I’m not going to lie but I much prefer shopping for mine in the men’s aisle so I couldn’t wait to put their german-engineered blades with 6 diamond-coated steel blades and a styling bikini blade to the test. In comparison to Dollar Shave Club, the blades didn’t actually feel like they were doing anything although they actually were and oddly it definitely felt much safer and the additional post and pre-treatments definitely enhanced the process with noticeably results.

Their award winning Shave Cream is packed with moisturising Manuka honey, Shea butter and coconut oil and although this doesn’t foam up it works just as well. Next out of the box is their Pre Shave Scrub, a gentle and all natural exfoliate made using the husk of walnuts and last but not least is their Post Shave Balm (my absolute favourite) and provides deep hydration to soothe and condition your skin after shaving without leaving a greasy film.

In addition to the above you can also expect to see a handy Shower hook and blade cover. Unfortunately I have matte tiles in my bathroom and the hook just didn’t want to stick which is a shame as I so needed a holder – might try a bit of silicone!

My Verdict

Everything from the packaging to the design is A+, but it’s so much more than just a pretty face! I really enjoyed the whole experience with Friction Free Shaving from the unboxing to the actual shaving. The razor glides smoothly without nicking or tugging and alongside the additional treatments my skin felt great for days without any irritation. Although their main concept is their razor and blade subscription I really like that they’ve put together a standalone set as it’s a great way to try out all of their products before you commit to their subscription plus it would make an amazing gift for a teen who’s just started to shave. If you’re interested in the subscription which is £9.00, they’ll send you a chic handle with FREE engraving and four blades to start off with, then you’ll just receive blades every month with an option to add any additional pre and post shave products.
