After a fun filled August edition, this month’s Back to School Glossybox is much more relaxed, much more to my liking and contains quite a few handy additions for me plus they’ve really covered a good ground on the line up front from skin and hair care right through to make-up with a mixture of both full sized products in addition to some travel sizes too. With the exception of the wet wipes, every single item is new on my radar from brands I’ve not had much experience with so that’s rather exciting!

If you’re new to Glossybox, it’s a monthly subscription box that comes packed with both deluxe-sized and full-size products and covers all areas of beauty from skin care, hair, nails, make-up and everything else in between from brands we all love and know as well as those hidden gems too! The box costs £13.25 per month and contains contents which always exceed the overall subscription price.

Here’s what I received inside my September Glossybox:

First out of the box we have the Grow Gorgeous Scalp Detox haircare treatment (Travel size 50ml), a very welcome addition for me as I’m having a little break from hair extensions at the moment and this is exactly what my hair needs right now! Utilising plant-based actives and nourishing ingredients, the unique, cooling formula combines natural Castor Oil Beads, White Willow Bark extract and Pomegranate Fruit Enzymes to gently exfoliate the scalp, providing a deep, intensive clean that eliminates clogging impurities, product build up, dry skin and dandruff to create the ideal environment for hair growth.  It contains a potent blend of minerals helps aid moisture levels while absorbing excess sebum, extending time between washes, with Bean Bio-ferment working to neutralise UV light and free radical damage for optimum protection.

My skin has actually been behaving in the last few months – well that was until the all those late nights finally caught up with me so the BeautyPro Charcoal Face Mask (x1 RRP £4.95) is definitely another beneficial addition for me! This self-foaming sheet mask that bubbles to create a micro massage that cleanses the skin of impurities and blackheads. It utilises Activated Charcoal and a rich AHA complex created from Lime, Lemon, Apple, Orange and Grapefruit and is also suitable for acne prone skin.

I love lazy day skin care and the Daily Concepts Your Facial Mini Scrubber (Travel size) is designed with pockets to slip your fingers in and choose your texture for better control. The innovative textures with micro scrubber technology are just right for a daily soft wash or for an exfoliant wash, both perfect for your face. It also has a label with an indicator that fades when it’s time to replace Your Facial Micro Scrubber – ooh that’s clever! Environmentally friendly, soy based foam material (inside the scrubber) to create a rich lather.

Moving onto make-up we have the Karl Lagerfeld & ModelCo lip liner in the shade Rosewood (Full size RRP £25.00). I rarely use lip liners but this one is such a beautiful shade so I’m see if I can pull this off as a lipstick instead! This soft wax pencil allows you to create the perfect pout by giving the illusion of natural, fuller lips.

Up next and my least favourite from this month’s selection is the Bang Beauty eyebrow cream (Full size RRP £16.80) and it’s such a shame that Glossybox decided to include a shade that wouldn’t be suitable for everyone as brow products are one of my favourite things to receive. This creamy light weight formula applies soft layers that are easily build able to get your desired look. Sets quickly and lasts all day.

Lastly is a pack of WetOnes wipes (Travel pack 12 wipes RRP £1.19), not the most exciting addition but a useful addition to keep in the handbag! Unlike hand gels, these cool, calm and refreshing soft wipes remove dirt and antibacterial properties kill 99.9% of bacteria. They keep you cleansed and feeling revitalised in an instant, no matter where you are.

My Verdict

In comparison to last month’s contents which wasn’t to my taste, I really liked what they picked out for their September line-up and so far everything seems to be pretty usable for me apart from the brow product which to no surprise was way too light – really wish beauty boxes took into account that we don’t all have the same brow colour, it’s such a huge bug bear of mine! Anyway aside from that I really enjoyed delving into this month’s discoveries and it was a nice bonus to see quite a few products that will benefit me such as the scalp treatment and the charcoal mask. I’m hoping I’ll be able to pull the lip liner off as a lipstick instead as it’s such a pretty shade for autumn!
