The June 2015 You Beauty Discovery Box has landed and this month’s shortlist theme focuses on Beauty Heroes and showcases a selection of everyday must-haves that you’ll be wanting to add to your beauty arsenal. As always you can expect to see a shortlist that has all areas covered showcasing both well-known and emerging brands. I’m inundated with skincare at the moment so I went for an all things make up line this month and picked the Crown Blending Brush and the Calvin Klein Lipstick and inside the box you can also expect to see a generous amount of samples thrown in, I’m kind of obsessed with the Urban Fruit!

“You Beauty Discovery” is a monthly beauty subscription service. The box consists of 2 selected hair, make-up and beauty products from well-known and new brands and they also include 2-3 bonus samples. Unlike the other subscription boxes you get to choose two products of your choice from a diverse selection menu each month.

My box included 2 products of my choice from the shortlist and two extra bonus treats.

1. Calvin Klein Delicious Luxury Creme Lipstick – Full Size. RRP from £3.99

When the small print “shades may vary” pops up it’s really pot luck in terms of what shade you may receive and for me personally being the risk taker that I am I’ve not had much luck,  I’ve always ended up with a shade that looks ghastly on me but luckily and for the first time in quite a while I’ve received a shade that I would of happily picked out myself.

I received the shade Clear Rose which is a vibrant pink with a little hint of shimmer. The formula as promised is creamy and also boasts great pigmentation. It’s a very wearable colour for the summer but I can see myself applying this in the evenings as opposed to during the day. The packaging is very played down, it’s pretty simple for a designer brand but in terms of the shade and the colour payoff I’m really pleased.

2. Crownbrush C436 Mini Duo Fibre Blender Brush – Full Size. RRP £7.39

Despite following Crownbrush on Instagram and ogling at their products I’ve not tried anything from their collection so very much welcomed seeing their Mini Duo Fibre Blender Brush within this month’s shortlist menu, it’s a latest addition to their range too!

Being in a mini form,  it has a slightly shorter head for blending foundation to even concealer regardless of whether it’s liquid, cream or powder due to it’s duo fibre blend of goat and synthetic hair.

I was immediately drawn to the softness and quality of the brush, it’s great for avoiding thick application of liquid foundation and getting into those hard to reach places. I’m really impressed with my first introduction to Crownbrush and will certainly be looking into more of their collection.

3. Extra Samples within the box:

This month, You Beauty Discovery included a generous mix of samples. There’s Teabag samples from Clipper Tea, three different types of wipes from Good to Go Anywhere and my ultimate favourite is the packet of Urban Fruit Magnificent Mango dried slices, their ever so moreish and it just so happens that Tesco currently have an offer on these which I took full advantage of.

My Verdict

This month’s shortlist showcased some great highlights giving subscribers an opportunity to try a selection of beauty heroes.  I usually struggle deciding on what to shortlist but for me it really was a no brainer and I opted for an things make up line up. The menu itself had a good balance of beauty showcasing both well-known and emerging brands. I’m extremely happy with both of my picks as well as the additional samples that were thrown in and I’m ever so thankful that I received a lipstick shade that I absolutely love.

The value of my box is worth £11.38 beating the actual cost of the box and includes two full sized products with the remainder being sample sized. If you want to try a more friendlier approach to beauty, this is a great place to start as the box itself is only £6.95.

The magazine within the box included various discount codes for all of the brands featured this month which is great if you want to purchase further products.

You Beauty Discovery is a firm favourite of mine, it’s budget friendly, gives you full control on what you want inside your box and it’s a great way to discover emerging and well known brands from a good selection of beauty products.  I’ve been really impressed with their shortlist menu’s recently and for only £6.95 every month it’s super affordable and good value for money.
