As well as suffering with hayfever and severe tooth ache for the last couple of weeks it was almost inevitably and no surprise that the monthly visitor had to also add to the joy! Yes, it’s that time of the month again and the *June 2015 Period Box as always comes to the rescue reliably on time as promised to get me through the next few days in the nicest possible way. Whilst this box solely focuses on the dreaded time of the month I absolutely love the concept and it’s a great distraction that delivers exactly what I need and want packed with a variety of chic and premium treats and your monthly essentials. It’s a pretty genius idea and one that’s made my life a hell of a lot easier, gone are the days where I (mainly the hubby) would usually have to run to the supermarket last minute!  This month’s line up isn’t as exciting on the beauty front and seems a little lacking compared to previous months but nevertheless it contains practical products, perfect for staying fresh during the summer.

Period Box is a premium UK monthly subscription service that bundles your choice of tampons and pads with hand-picked goodies and exquisite treats to cheer you up when you most need it. With every box you will receive a selection of premium teas, chocolates from artisan manufacturers, high-end beauty samples and an unique design gift or a beautiful art print by their featured artist of the month. Period Box literally takes care of everything and will ship your package five days before your  period is due and no matter what your preferences are your box is completely bespoke to meet your needs both day and night.

As always the box was brimmed to the top and I love how the treats are beautifully wrapped as opposed to just being thrown in, It really gives the feel of opening presents. As well as the monthly essentials the box also included five additional items to enjoy and indulge in making that time of the month much more bearable.

1. Period Essentials (2-3 days cycle)

As always I go for the short flow customised package which is for a 2-3 days cycle that consists of a mixture of pads suitable for both day and night. Inside the box was 10 pads (mixture of day and night pads) with four liners too. Period Box caters for all types of flows and your preferences can be chosen when you curate your box.

For me personally the box always includes the perfect amount of pads and liners from Always, a brand that I trust and turn to and find them super comfortable, reliable and discreet.

2. SASS Intimate Mist and Purifying Cleanser

I’m sure I’m not the only one who wished periods went on vacation during the summer as it’s a really horrible time where they feel even more unpleasant and yucky which in turn makes me even more of stickler when it comes to good hygiene.

Admittedly I don’t use targeted products like the ones from SASS so it will be interesting to see how these work. Inside the box is two products from their collection with the first being their Intimate Mist (full size 30ml RRP £8.00). The handy sized refreshing mist has been created to neutralise odour  with a crisp fragrance to refresh you anytime, anywhere.

Next up is the SASS Purifying Cleanser (sample size 10ml) which has been specially created to help you feel fresh throughout the day. Their gentle formula contains special Ecodermine technology that acts as a probiotic to maintain intimate harmony, soothes the skin and helps you be at your best.

3. Her Tea from Your Tea  – 3 Tea Bag sachets

Whatever your cup of tea, I love that Period Box include a variety of unique tea’s from different companies, mainly sourced from brands I’ve not heard of before. This month’s box features the brand Your Tea .

The Her Tea seems rather fitting this month and aims to boost immunity, enhance the mood, alleviates PMS, calms digestion and is an everyday tea that contains some wondrous herbs to help strengthen your immune system with the added bonus of making you that little more happier! Wonder if the mood enhancer would work for my husband?

4.  Seed and Bean Chilli & Lime Extra Dark Chocolate  – Full Size 85g RRP £2.49

Period Box really know how to spoil a girl and all subscribers can expect to see a full sized bar of chocolate inside their box each month! That’s right, there isn’t a sample in sight giving you a real chocolate fix as when you need it the most.

This month showcases Seed and Bean, a brand that is all about nature and creativity; contemporary, natural flavours, blended with pure cocoa beans into kaleidoscopic moments of pleasure. They are 100% organic, ethical and all of their chocolates are handmade in England.

I received the Chilli & Lime bar which isn’t something I would of picked out myself but surprisingly the combination of these ingredients went from mediocre to a mouthful of flavour with a kick of chilli towards the end!

Since receiving the Period Box I’ve become quite a fan of dark chocolate and surprisingly just a couple of chucks really fulfills my chocolate craving guilt-free!

5.   Sweet Pocket Mirror by Isobel Woodcock  – RRP £2.95

Every month you can expect to see a unique gift from an art print, a design stationery to a hand crafted jewelery item.

Sometimes it really is the little things that get me excited and this pocket mirror designed by Isobel Woodcock is adorned with a delicate feather design and being pocket sized this has gone straight into my handbag. As well as the feather design, Isobel has a wide variety of other quirky designs via her Etsy shop and they’re very reasonably priced too.

My Verdict

I always dread the arrival of my monthly visitor but this box is a great distraction and always manages to put a smile on my face as well as preparing me for the next few days in the nicest possible way. The June edition in terms of the beauty line up isn’t exciting as previous editions but showcases practical products from SASS which are perfect for this time of the year. I love the selection of lifestyle products which always go down a treat and I’m particularly smitten with the beautiful pocket-sized mirror. With this box it’s not just about the contents you receive but the experience of the unboxing itself, it’s filled with so much love that demonstrates that the founders are very passionate about the subject and really know the way to a girl’s heart!

We all look for comforts and indulgence in the form of sweet offerings and pampering treats to get us through the cycle and this box really has all areas covered without compromising on any of the quality. It’s a great little survival kit which has something for the first day to even the last day of your period whilst accommodating for all of the uncanny stuff that happens in between!
