Since discovering the traditional form of wet shaving from my first ever box from Wet Shave Club I’ve been seriously hooked in mastering the technique and with lots of practice I’ve now ditched my useless Gilette and switched to the super duper pink razor that I received inside the May box. I’ve also been using the accompanying treats at least once a week to achieve silky smooth legs and seeing the amazing results week on week I’m extremely happy I made the switch. With stock levels down I was delighted to see the *June Wet Shave Club Box land on my doorstep this week and it’s another great edition filled with key essentials such as soap, an exfoliator, aftershave mist, a leather case to protect your shaver and two generous packs of blades. There’s lots of new discoveries and brands to try out this month and as sad as it sounds I can’t wait to de-fuzz my legs!
Wet Shave Club brings the art of traditional wet shaving to their customers via a monthly subscription box and for us in the UK it’s a great introduction as it’s not something I’ve seen promoted here for us ladies. If your hair removal preference leans more towards shaving like me then this is a great concept which not only introduces you to wet shaving but also contains all the key essentials and clear instructions to get you on your way to smoother legs.
Wet Shave Club originally established their monthly box for men but have now branched out to provide something for us ladies too. In your first box from Wet Shave Club you will receive a premium razor, a brush for building a thick lather with your soap, luxurious shaving soap, pack of blades, moisturiser to keep your skin smooth and fresh, and an instructional card to help with the process. Any subsequent boxes after your first box will contain soaps, moisturisers and blades.
1. Shaver Blades – x2 individual packs – RPP £1.95 ($3.00)
Inside the June edition is two generous packs of razors from the brands Astra and Shark, both packs contain 5 blades each and are all individually sealed.
I’ve been replacing the blade on my razor each time so delighted I’ve received some more.
2. Leather Sheath – RRP £12.99 ($20.00)
I originally spotted this leather case inside the men’s box and being absent from the first introductory box I was happy to see this addition as it’s such an essential.
The razor head fits really snug into the case and protects the razor from scratches, and most importantly your fingers from exposed blades!
3. Seasons of Love Gifts Oatmeal Cookie Sugar Scrub – RRP £2.27 ($3.50)
My secret to achieve the ultimate close shave is exfoliating before shaving, it’s one of the most important preparation steps that not only helps to get rid of dead skin cells but also helps to prevent gunk build up inside your razor.
The Oatmeal Cookie Sugar Scrub has been sourced from Season of Love’s Etsy store and I think it’s amazing that Wet Shave Club are using products from small businesses to feature inside their box.
True to it’s name this handmade scrub smells absolutely delicious I really do just want to eat it! Aside from the scent the scrub boasts being 100% natural, praben-free and benefits from the goodness of grapeseed oil, jojoba oil, Oatmeal, Essential oils, cinnamon, sunflower oil, Organic Shea Butter, Organic Coconut oil, All natural sugar and Organic honey.
Being in such a natural form it’s even gentle enough for children and is beneficial for those with eczema, psoriasis, and other skin needs providing hydrating moisture, radiance and a natural glow. If you love to indulge in the sweet decadence of luxurious body treats, this scrub leaves you smelling like a yummy dessert!
4. Red Leaf Oatmeal, Milk and Honey Shave Cube – RRP £1.95 ($3.00)
The Red Leaf Oatmeal, Milk & Honey Shave Club cares for the skin both pre and post shave. This translucent cube softens the hair with it’s rich plant-based oils and glycerin and creates a creamy lather allowing the razor to glide much freely.
5. Puur Pure Honey Aftershave Mist – RRP £4.55 ($7.00)
The Puur Pure Honey Aftershave Mist is infused with witch hazel, honey and camomile, all of which have incredible soothing properties, making it the perfect aftercare solution for just-shaved skin.
These anti-inflammatory agents help with razor burn, bumps, or any other irritation you may have encountered during your shave and the witch hazel scent which dominates the mist really reminds me of the medical room at school but I really like it and it’s definitely one of the highlights inside the June edition.
My Verdict
Since discovering the traditional form of wet shaving I’ve ditched my Gilette razor to make way for something that’s much more effective, the results last longer and I absolutely love the way my legs feel. I’m not going to lie it’s pretty scary using this kind of technique however with lots of practice it’s definitely gained my trust and the best bit…it eats hair like there’s no tomorrow! The June box has all areas covered and is a complete kit that ranges from prepping and priming the skin as well as aftercare.
In terms of value the June edition doesn’t particularly bowl me over with the contents being worth only £24.00, I personally think they should of included a moisturiser and more soaps to make this box more value for money.
