You may have already heard of Coloristiq who launched a hign-end nail varnish rental service in 2014 offering customers such a wide array of brands and colours and whilst it’s a great concept and one I was really tempted to try I’m way too precious about my nail varnishes and would of found it extremely hard to part with them each month! Thankfully, Coloristiq have recently added another string to their bow in form of their Manicure Box and the best part…it’s all yours to keep. Each month you can expect to see a themed curation containing a generous mix of products from nail varnish, manicure tools and even hand creams, all of which are from well-known brands that we all love and know. This month’s Summer Getaway edition is all about those hot sunny days and whether you’re home or away there’s a great line up of sizzling colours to get your nails summer-ready.

The Coloristiq Manicure Box is not a subscription service meaning you can buy an edition as and when you want to as well as being able to see the contents before you purchase. The selection of products will change on a monthly basis, but typically will consists of three to four full sized bottles of nail polish, one or two mini polishes and a hand care item or a nail related accessory.

This month’s edition features Essie, Nails Inc, Sally Hansen and O.P.I. Inside the box is three full sized nail varnishes, two mini nail varnishes and a base coat enhancer, all of which are enclosed within a bright orange polka dot box.

1. Nails Inc London Designer Matte Finish in Gatwick  – Full Size 10ml RRP £12.00

In all honesty I’m not a fan of matte nail varnishes at all but this formula by Nails Inc applies a lot better than the ones I’ve tried previously and has definitely re-kindled my love for them.

Gatwick is a chic classic red leaning orange which goes on shiny and dries to a bold matte finish. The consistency of the polish is smooth which is quite novel but as with all matte polishes this does show up all mistakes you make but nonetheless I really like the colour and can see myself wearing this quite often.

2. OPI Nicole Diva into the Pool  – Full Size 15ml. RRP £7.99

I’m really into my teal nail varnishes at the moment so welcomed Diva into the Pool by OPI Nicola, a collection I’ve not tried before.

Diva Into The Pool is a pretty shimmery teal colour with tiny specks of silver glitter and does need layering to achieve an opaque finish but the polish dries quickly and the colour is just gorgeous.

3. Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Lemon Zest– Full Size 11.8ml. RRP £4.99

Sally Hansen is one of my favorite drug store brands, it’s super cheap, a wide range of fun colors, and I love the brush!

Lemon Zest is a bright yellow shimmer and in terms of the formula it’s pretty good. It’s not a shade that I would of picked out myself but it definitely adds a pop of colour and would look absolutely stunning on tanned skin.

4. Two mini nail polishes from Essie’s Summer Collection – 2 x 5ml. RRP £9.98

I love Essie nail varnishes so was delighted to see two mini’s from their summer collection.

Sunday Funday is a really pretty coral with a subtle shimmer. I really love this shade of coral, it sits really nicely between orange and pink making it the perfect color for summer.

Full Steam Ahead is a pearlescent lilac, and again has a gorgeous soft shimmer. It’s quite a unique shade that I very much welcome into my collection.

5. Nails Inc Soho Silk Colour Enhancing Base Coat – Full Size 10ml. RRP £11.99

Aside from the nail varnishes the Manicure Box also includes a full sized Nails Inc Soho Silk Colour Enhancing Base Coat which I didn’t even know was a thing until now!

I don’t usually apply a base coat mainly out of laziness, the only time I ever use one is if the varnish is likely to stain my nails however this isn’t your ordinary base coat it cleverly enhances the colour of your chosen nail varnish once applied. I of course had to put this to the test and was pleasantly surprised. The base coat is white in colour and made my pink varnish look much more brighter and three days in I’ve even noticed that the varnish is still intact.

As always, I’m a massive fan of Nails Inc and I think this is a great base coat, not only does it strengthen the nails but it seems to prevent chipping really well too. The white tone provides a blank canvas for bright polish to really show it’s true beauty.

My Verdict

If you’re a regular reader you’ll already know that I’m pretty obsessed with nail varnishes, I can’t even begin to imagine how many I own and If this example is anything to go by I’ll be needing a spare room for storage as I can see that temptation might get the better of me! If you love anything to do with nails like me you’ll love the July Manicure Box, they’ve curated the perfect collection that beautifully captures the colour essence of summer. As well as the great variety of on-trend shades the box also features well-known and loved brands so for only £15.00 with the contents worth nearing £50.00 it’s exceptional value for money that allows you to purchase each box as and when you want to as well as the opportunity to see the contents too. Keeping to the nail theme it was also great to be introduced to the Nails Inc Base Coat, it’s definitely one of the best I’ve tried and as for the matte coat I’ve finally found one that I actually really like. Inside the box is also an information card which tells you exactly what’s inside your box as well as a nail art tutorial.

The box itself is packaged very well and ensures that the nail polishes arrive in tip top condition and whilst the box itself isn’t branded it was actually quite nice to see something really colour popping as opposed to a boring cardboard box.

If you tend to stick to classic shades this box definitely gives you the opportunity to try shades which you normally wouldn’t reach out for and it’s the perfect fix for nail enthusiasts or for those who simply want to grow their nail varnish collection.
