 1. Liaison De Parfum – Sample Vial. Full Size 100ml RRP £105.00

When opening my Birchbox I didn’t expect a perfume sample to be within the pretty envelope packaging embossed with the words Resist Me. This Nana de Bary’s luxe fragrance captures the romantic essences of life and travel.

Liaison De Parfum is a new line within Nana De Bary’s collection and is composed of four distinctive scents, and has been almost five years in the making, Each Parfum is de Bary’s homage to one of the four seasons or stages of a life well-lived. Made in France using traditional methods of classic perfumery.

I have been introduced to some wonderful scents by Birchbox and this Parfum was certainly unique and mysterious. I picked up the Sandalwood tones straight away and in my opinion overpowers the remainder of the other notes which include leather, cedar, Laban, bergamot, lemon, tangerine, immortelle, patchouli, iris, geranium and musk. This soothing, aromatic scent brings back some great memories of when traveling in India,  a culture who places great significance on the fragrance and medicinal qualities of Sandalwood which is used in beauty regimes and religious rituals dating back to ancient India.

2. Number 4 Super Comb Prep & Protect – Sample Size 30ml. Full Size RRP £20.00

It always handy to carry a leave in conditioner when away to tame tangled and unruly hair especially when you are in the sun. This spray detangles and protects  your locks against heat and sun damage. If you have thick unruly hair like mine you will welcome this product!

A good sized travel product which has a spray nozzle for easy application and can be spritzed over damp hair before drying and styling.

3. Supergoop Daily Correct SPF 35 CC Cream – Sample Size 3ml. Full Size RRP £32.00

This CC cream which is an American brand is a silky, all-in-one sun defense formula which covers imperfections and corrects uneven skin while targeting the signs of aging. Potent antioxidants and triple protection from UVA, UVB and IRA rays minimize the signs of photoaging and inflammation. This velvety cream comes in three self-adjusting shades to suit a variety of skin tones and is suitable for sensitive skin types.

Supergoop strive to formulate products that you and your family actually want to put on: they are lightweight, never greasy or sticky and easily absorb into skin. Supergoop is the first and only prestige skincare brand completely dedicated to sun protection and is endorsed by Maria Sharapova as co-owner and ambassador for suncare as skincare.

This comes at the right time for me as the last couple of month’s my skin is breaking out in spots more regularly than usually and I’m always looking for products which are effective.

I received the shade light to medium which was perfect for my skin tone. This blended in very well and covered my imperfections thoroughly. I was pleasantly surprised how light weight this formula felt on my skin. It’s the ideal consistency for the warmer weather and a great alternative to using a full on foundation.

Whilst this may be a teeny sample there’s two offerings of this CC cream which is a good taster to really get a feel of the product. I think I have just discovered my CC holy grail.

4. Sarah McNamara Miracle Skin Transformer Hydroactive Microderm – Sample size 14.2g. Full Size RRP £25.00

Sarah McNamara tapped into more than 15-years of experience in the corporate beauty world to bring us the Miracle Skin Transformer. Miracle Skin Transformer creates the first-ever, one-step application products designed to instantly transform your skin. Developed with naturally-derived silicones, these formulations contain powerful protection and hydration benefits leaving you with a smooth, radiant, airbrushed finish in seconds.

This cleanser gently cleanses the skin—removing surface oils, make up, dirt and grime—its whipped texture transforms into a soothing foam when blended with water. Skin feels fresh, hydrated and smooth instantly.

Infused with the M3 Complex, a powerful botanical antioxidant blend that works hard to fight free radicals.  Ecophysalis, Manuka Honey, and Vitamins help soothe and soften, for clarified and luminous skin.

I’m not too sure whether this can be used on oily skin but the reviews I have read are positive. I may give this a go once my skin has improved.

5. Wild about Beauty Powder Eyeshadow – Full Size. RRP £13.00

Who knew that Louise Rednapp along with Kim Jacob had a make-up line? Well here is one of the powder eye shadows from their paraben free range and it’s a full sized product. Say hello to Wild About Beauty.

Wild about Beauty’s highly pigmented, satin textured powder eyeshadows are available in a selection of easy-to-wear, flattering shades that will suit all skin tones.

I received the shade Becca which is a lovely rich golden bronze tone with a bee etched in the shadow which makes it adorably pretty. This applied smoothly and the colour pay off is very good. I love that there’s a mirror enclosed inside making on the go touch up’s super easy. A great shade to achieve the perfect summer look. You can also use this wet for a more intense look.

6. Lifestyle Extra – Chapter Sampler of the The Proposal by Tasmina Perry

An unusual lifestyle extra this month exclusively for Birchbox subscribers in the form of a book which gives you a chapter sampler of The Proposal written by Tasmina Perry, a novel which is spellbinding and romantic.

At first I was bemused as to why there was only 1 chapter. However i think this is actually a great idea. You will either give up at Chapter one or go and purchase the actual book to find out what happens next! I wish more author’s would do this. A great concept and introduction to a book which comes in a handy travel size.

7. Birchbox Travel Toiletries Bag

There’s a great addition to this month’s Birchbox  – an exclusively designed Birchbox toiletries bag with a very summery theme – ice lollies!

I  adore the design and the colours which they have combined to give you the perfect sized bag for all your make-up or holiday essentials. The bag is transparent also  enabling you to see exactly what’s inside. It’s material is waterproof too.

This handy bag can easily fit into your hand bag or your beach bag making it a must-have travel accessory.

My Verdict

This month’s box shout’s out Summer holidays and contained a selection of 6 must-have travel sized products whether you’re going on a day trip, weekend away or a getaway abroad.

The box mainly consisted of Skincare, make up, a hair product, a perfume sample and a lifestyle extra this month in the form of a book which has an extract of one chapter. A good variety of products and brands have been featured this month with the inclusion of an exclusive Birchbox make up bag for all your summer essentials.

The inserts this month contained useful tips and a tick list on what not to forget when your packing which is always useful. I tend to always forget one crucial item when packing and soon panic when it’s not in the case by which point it’s too late!

I must admit when I opened the box I wasn’t immediately wowed, however now I have gone into some depth I love the contents. The box includes a great selection of essential must-haves to get you through the Summer.

I’ve discovered some great gems this month especially the Supergoop CC Cream which is a great alternative for light weight coverage in the Summer months.

The July 2014 Birchbox has arrived and this month’s theme is all things Sun, Sea and Sand celebrating glistening sea views and those sandy beaches that evoke the warmest season of the year – Summer!

Birchbox is a  monthly beauty subscription service. The box consists of  4-5 selected hair, make-up and beauty products from well-known brands and new brands. They also include a lifestyle extra within their box too. Birchbox also have an online shop where you can purchase all the brands which have been featured in their boxes. This month’s box shout’s out Summer and Travel and contains some great travel sized products for use at home or away .  The box mainly consisted of  body, Skincare, make up  and hair products this month. A good variety this month.

The content’s of  July’s Birchbox contents will vary. To see what you may receive please click here

If you’re thinking of signing up there is a great offer at the end of my post.

1.  Gilchrist & Soames English Spa Sea Kelp Extract Mineral Bath  – Sample Size 40ml.

I’m a fan of this brand having received a shower gel previously from Birchbox. This is a foamy gel which contains marine nutrient sea kelp to invigorate the skin and is used when running a bath. I’ve always found their products like the ones you would find in a SPA mainly because of the scent and luxurious feel. This smells quite refreshing and soothing. I can’t wait to try this.

2. Weleda Millet Nourishing Shampoo  – Sample Size 18ml. Full Size 190ml RRP £8.95

This is a natural organic fortifying Shampoo which will gently cleanse hair, while maintain your natural shine. The millet works to protect hair from becoming dry while macadamia nut oil will keep it naturally supple and includes extracts of grapefruit and peppermint which smells lovely.

This is for normal hair. My hair is quite dry and certainly not normal however they also do a range for dry hair too which I will look into as I love Weleda’s concept.

3. Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream – Sample Size 7ml. Full Size 15ml RRP £20.00

I’m a Balance Me virgin and have never tried any of their products so thanks to Birchbox I am no longer a stranger to this brand.

This eye cream is a three in one multi-tasking formula which softens, smooths and brightens thanks to its unique blend of Roman chamomile, lemon, cucumber oil, witch hazel, anti-oxidant spruce knot, virgin coconut, rosehip oil and carrot oil. This couldn’t of come at a better time and you will share my view if like me you’re a hayfever sufferer . My eyes really have a hard time this time of the year not forgetting the toll of late nights and the effect it has on your eyes in the morning. This cream can be used in the morning and evening.

Upon application this applied well and a little does go a long way. I lightly patted this around my eye area and it felt refreshing. I am hoping that continual use of this product will improve the area under my eyes.

4.   Laqa & Co Sheer Lip Lube Pencil   – Sample Size.  Full Size £14.00

I purchased the duo Laqa & Co Lip pencils from the Birchbox shop a couple of weeks ago and found that they were more of a tinted lip balm then a lipstick. I received the shade Bee’s Knee’s which is a nice light coral toned colour. This applied quite sheer and subtle giving a gloss finish. The moisturising properties are great and has a pepermint scent.

5.  Whish Three Wishes Lavender Body Butter – Sample Size 22ml.

New brand alert and there’s a great story behind this brand. A husband who researched his way to bring you Whish which is an American brand. This body cream has a unique triple antioxidant based formula which moisturises, firms and purifies. This fully loaded lotion both softens and soothes the skin while also helping to replenish and firm and is lavender scented. They also do a 6 other scents in this lotion. The scent is lovely and the cream is really moisturising and not greasy when applied. I think I have just found my next body cream! One for the wishlist.

6. Ultradex Fresh Breath Oral Spray – Lifestyle Extra – Full Size RRP £3.65

I think you will all agree that this month’s lifestyle extra is quite unusual compared to others received! None the less this spray will keep your breath minty and fresh and comes in a great handbag size. This has 130 spray uses which is great.

My Verdict

It was going to be tough to compete with last month’s box however Birchbox have delivered some great key essentials to kick start summer. I love the theme and the products which have been incorporated. These products are ideal for packing in your hand lugguage when going abroad as they are all travel sized and will be allowed to go through security at the airport.

This month’s box shout’s out Summer and Travel and contains some great travel sized products for use at home or away .  The box consisted of  body, skincare, make up  and hair products this month. A good variety of products and contained well known and new brands.

I’ve  fallen in love with the Whish Body lotion and will be eagerly awaiting for Birchbox to stock this in their online shop!

A great little box to kick start your Summer whether you’re at home or away.

Price of the Box is £10.00 Plus £2.95 P&P
No of Products in the Box – 6 items
Total value of contents in the box – £30.00+
www.birchbox.co.uk

Finally my June 2014 Birchbox arrived and I was really hoping to receive some of the fab items which were given to some bloggers in their PR samples this month. The anticipated wait is now over! Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better BirchBox deliver another fantastic box.

So who would of thought another great Birchbox this month with some iconic brands this month – They certainly know the concept of a beauty box and have been delivering on this front the last few months.

Birchbox’s theme this month is  the World Cup, bringing their top beauty players from around the globe  in one little beauty box. A fab theme this month. I’m not a fan of football however I love the world cup.

The item which most subscribers were probably hoping for is the Beautyblender and I am pleased that so far majority of the boxes I have seen has included this item however I have also seen a few poor boxes.

“Birchbox” is a  monthly beauty subscription service. The box consists of  4-5 selected hair, make-up and beauty products from well-known brands and new brands.

If you’re thinking of subscribing there is an offer at the end of my post.

This month’s box included 2 full sized products, 3  sample  sized products and a lifestyle extra bonus item .  The box mainly consisted of  body, Skincare, make up and beauty products this month. Definitely a good mix of products and I received all the products I was hoping for this month from the spoiler which was released.

With Birchbox not everyone gets the same products its quite varied.  To see the range of this months products please click here

1.    Beauty Blender and Blender Cleanser  Full Size RRP £16.00

This is a boxed travel set of one beauty blender’s classic. This set also contains a solid cleanser.

I currently own a Beautyblender however it’s seen better days so welcomed this new one.  I use to apply my foundation with brushes and triangular sponges and always wondered why my foundation looked cakey then came  along the Beauty Blender a sponge created without edges in order to eliminate visible lines and streaks. It’s unique shape has so many uses.

I use the pointed side for hard-to-reach spots like around the nose and mouth, and under the eyes and the  round base for foundation on the larger areas of my face such as your forehead, cheeks and chin. You can also use the pointed side for apply concealer which I usually do.

This cleanser is a travel friendly alternative to the original liquid blender cleanser and provides the same cleansing results and soothing lavender fragrance.

I really can’t recommend this enough it leaves my foundation looking flawless and smooth unlike any other beauty tool.

2.   Yves Rocher Sheer Botanical Lipstick in shade Marron Glace  – Full Size  Introductory Price is £9.60 RRP £18.00

This lipstick is a new line by Yves Rocher. This sheer botanical lipstick is made from 100% cherry oil. Cherry oil has the power to shine and refract light and it’s ultra sensual texture easily blends in to enhance the lips with a glossy colour. The intensity can be changed as desired and is available in 12 shades.

I received the shade Marron Glace which is a sheer brown with a pink tone. A lovely colour and this smells absolutely divine.

3.     Caudalie Divine Oil – Sample Size 15ml. Full Size 100ml RRP £27.00

This is a nourishing multi-purpose miracle oil, Caudalie Divine Oil is an indulgent treat for dry skin, hair and nails. The unique blend of natural oils, gentle fragrances and softening shea butter can also be used to restore the skin in the bath or during a massage.

Wow this oil carries a beautiful floral fragrance and is pleasantly scented. I love that this is a multi-purpose oil.

The only flaw is the wide opening of the bottle. I would of liked to have seen a better applicator as way too much product comes out in one go!

4.     OPI Nail Varnish in shade AmazON…AmazOFF (Brazilian Collection)  – Sample Size 3.75ml. Full Size £11.00

I love OPI nail varnish so was happy to see this in my box.

The colour I received was AmazON…AmazOFF which is the equivalent of a teal color. This colour is from OPI’s Brazilian Collection range.

Will definitely try this over the weekend – I love the colour.

5. Coola Classic Face Sunscreen – Sample Size 7ml Full Size 50ml RRP £26.00

This sunscreen is specifically for your face and does not leave any white residue! It’s unscented and is crafted with 70% organic non-active ingredients, it also contains antioxidants to fight ageing and redness.

SPF really does not agree with my oily skin and therefore I will probably stay clear of this however a great concept.

6. BirchBox Brazil Inspired Keyring – Lifestyle Extra

A cute little flip-flop keyring exclusively designed by Birchbox for their subscribers.

I’m a sucker for cute little things and I absolutely love this and this finishes off the theme very nicely.

My Verdict

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better Birchbox deliver another fantastic box.

Birchbox’s theme this month is the World Cup, bringing their top beauty players from around the globe  in one little beauty box. A fab theme this month and the addition of the Brazil inspired key ring and the Brazil coloured bag really finishes off the theme.

The item which most subscribers were probably hoping for is the Beautyblender and I am pleased that so far majority of the boxes I have seen has included this item however I have also seen a few poor boxes which didn’t contain the beauty blender.

I am really impressed with this month’s Birchbox and it appears that their standard has some what improved since February this year.

There’s only one product this month that I wont make use out of so this month was a great box for me.

The contents within this month’s box is worth roughly around £30.00+. Great value for money.

So who would of thought another great BirchBox this month with some iconic brands this month – They certainly know the concept of a beauty box and have been delivering on this front the last few months.
