Wrapped discretely with a touch of prettiness the concept behind *Period Box is quite genius, not only is the box filled with practical products but within the mix there’s also other fun premium goodies like chocolate and hot tea to give you something to look forward to as you’re rolled up in bed with a heating pad as well some beauty and lifestyle treats too! This month’s line up isn’t as exciting on the beauty front and seems a little underwhelming compared to previous months but nonetheless it’s packed with key essentials for a much happier period!

Period Box is a premium UK monthly subscription service that bundles your choice of tampons and pads with hand-picked goodies and exquisite treats to cheer you up when you most need it. With every box you will receive a selection of premium teas, chocolates from artisan manufacturers, high-end beauty samples and an unique design gift or a beautiful art print by their featured artist of the month. Period Box literally takes care of everything and will ship your package five days before your period is due and no matter what your preferences are your box is completely bespoke to meet your needs both day and night.

As always the box was brimmed to the top and I love how the treats are beautifully wrapped as opposed to just being thrown in, It really gives the feel of opening presents. As well as the monthly essentials the box also included five additional items to enjoy and indulge in making that time of the month much more bearable.

1. Period Essentials (2-3 days cycle)

As always I go for the short flow customised package which is for a 2-3 days cycle that consists of a mixture of pads suitable for both day and night. Inside the box was 10 pads (mixture of day and night pads) with four liners too. Period Box caters for all types of flows and your preferences can be chosen when you curate your box.

For me personally the box always includes the perfect amount of pads and liners from Always, a brand that I trust and turn to and find them super comfortable, reliable and discreet.

This month also see’s the return of the heat pad, a patch to help relieve cramps and abdominal pain which is very common during the time of the month. I certainly welcome this with open arms.

2. Organic Surge Skin Smoothing Body Lotion – Full Size 200ml RRP £6.75

The Tropical Bergamot natural body lotion comes in a really generous size and promises to be super-hydrating with a quick absorbing formula to protect your skin from dryness and irritation. It contains skin-conditioning shea butter and glycerine to leave your skin feeling soft, smooth and moisturised whilst the addition of the organic sweet orange and bergamot essential oils help to eliminate toxins and de-stress.

I love the scent it’s really soothes the senses and keeps the skin beautifully hydrated all day.  A lovely pampering and nurturing addition which will protect from the effects of cold weather and central heating this winter.

3. Madara Deep Moisture Cream – 2 Sample sachets

Whilst I’ve loved what I’ve tried so far from Madara I’m a little disappointed that they’ve only included two sample sachets this month amongst the beauty line up.

Providing up to 24h intensive hydration with soothing Northern Plantain and Sea-buckthorn extracts the Deep Moisture Cream boosts moisture instantly and throughout the day. Skin looks suppler and firmer.

4. Kirpa Teas from Hari Tea – 3 sachets

Whatever your cup of tea, I love that Period Box include a variety of unique tea’s from different companies, mainly sourced from brands I’ve not heard of before. This month’s box features 3 tea samples from Hari Tea, a premium brand who carefully select Yogic blends of the finest herbs & spices to give you an experience of pleasure and well-being.

I love that they’ve included three different tea bags from the Hari Tea collection which includes organic herb and spice blends keep your mental, spiritual and physical in balance.

5. Montezuma’s Sea Dog Chocolate Bar- Full Size 100g RRP £2.39

Period Box really know how to spoil a girl and all subscribers can expect to see a full sized bar of chocolate inside their box each month! That’s right, there isn’t a sample in sight giving you a real chocolate fix as when you need it the most.

This month showcases Montezuma, a brand that I’ve fallen in love with since my first ever introduction inside a previous Birchbox edition.

I’m really getting into salty-sweet combinations, and I loved the tingly salty presence in this bar.

6. Illustration by Filipz

Every month you can expect to see a unique gift from an art print, stationery to hand crafted jewellery.

This month features another pretty postcard sized print from Filipz who not only is the co-owner of Period Box but a talented artist too. I love the print and the inspirational quote, it’s definitely my favourite to date but I would have liked to have seen something different on the lifestyle front especially as an art print has been featured 3 months in a row!

My Verdict

The September edition isn’t the most exciting box especially on the beauty front but that being said I absolutely love the Organic Surge body cream, it’s huge and perfect for this time of of the year. I love the selection of lifestyle products which always go down a treat and as much as I love the art print I’m a little miffed as to why they’ve featured another one this month, there definitely needs to be a better rotation on the lifestyle side just so it’s not samey each month. The heat pad has also made a comeback this month so I was really pleased to see this inside as it’s such a useful aid to have on standby. As always the presentation is spot on and wrapped to perfection, something which always impresses me.

I always dread the arrival of my monthly visitor but this box is a great distraction and always manages to put a smile on my face as well as preparing me for the next few days in the nicest possible way. We all look for comforts and indulgence in the form of sweet offerings and pampering treats to get us through the cycle and this box is a great little survival kit.
