The September 2015 You Beauty Discovery Box has landed and as always I couldn’t wait to see who they had on board this month. Centered around skincare, the shortlist features a good selection of skin loving treats from lotions and potions, face masks and even eye treatments. It’s a great opportunity to prepare for autumn as we swap out lighter alternatives to something a little more weatherproof!

“You Beauty Discovery” is a monthly beauty subscription service where you get choose two products of your choice from both well-known and emerging brands and they also throw in 2-3 bonus samples. Each month you’ll find a shortlist that’s been centered around a theme.
1. Urban Veda Soothing Day Cream – Full Size 50ml. RRP £14.99
I’ve been a big fan of the Urban Veda range since my first introduction last year so I was delighted to see their collection of moisturisers within this month’s shortlist, all of which are full sized too!
Although I lean more towards to their purifying my range my skin has been a little stressed and dehydrated lately so their Soothing Day Cream sounded perfect.
Urban Veda, a natural brand practicing Ayurveda principles group skin types like most skincare brands, but have a completely unique approach by determining your ‘Dosha’. The Soothing Day Cream targets the effects of elemental damage, effects of fatigue, environmental pollution and dehydration and boasts an impressive list of ingrediants such as Palmarosa, Sandalwood, organic Aloe Vera juice, natural botanicals Ylang Ylang, Clary Sage and Arjuna to help to balance sebum, calm fine lines ,rosy capillaries, soothes and benefits dry and stressed skin.
As with all of their products the first thing I noticed was the gorgeous smell, it’s very natural and really lifts the mood. It also sinks in nicely and leaves the skin feeling refreshed, unlike a lot of moisturisers which just sit on top of the skin.
2. AA Skincare Seaweed & Aloe Refreshing Eye Gel – Full Size 50ml RRP £6.95
I love slathering on a eye cream especially when my eyes are feeling particularly tired, or if I don’t get enough sleep and want to avoid obvious panda eyes the next morning. AA Skincare isn’t a brand I’ve heard of before but they boast many years of experience in aromatherapy and natural skincare, creating naturally effective products to give your skin a treat without costing the earth.
This dual purpose eye gel with Seaweed and Aloe gently offers rehydration for the delicate skin around the eyes and also safely removes make up leaving you feeling soothed and refreshed. With natural extracts of Eyebright and Cornflower, the gel soothes whilst the Cucumber adds to the hydrating and calming effect.
The gel is light and feels really cooling on the skin without leaving any kind of residue. I’ve used this a few times and it effortlessly removes all my eye make up and works equally as well as an eye gel too, it definitely leaves my eyes feeling soothed and rested.
This month, You Beauty Discovery included three extra treats from Linwoods – a sachet sample of their Chia Seeds, a 7ml sample of The Body Shop’s Oils of Life, The Body Shop Love your Body Club Card and a make up sponge.
My Verdict
I’m not usually a fan when it comes to skincare overload but as temperatures start to dip and cause havoc to our skin this month’s shortlist features a useful selection of key essentials for the new season covering all areas from both well-known and emerging brands.
As well as the generous amount of extra’s thrown in, the value of my box is worth £21.94 beating the actual cost of the box and includes very generous sized products, perfect to judge whether you like them or not. The magazine within the box also includes various discount codes for all of the brands featured this month which is great if you want to purchase further products.
You Beauty Discovery is without a doubt one of the best valued beauty box’s on the market which gives you a great opportunity to sample products from well-known, loved and emerging beauty brands. One of the aspects I love about this box is that I have full control of what’s inside as well as receiving some additional bonus samples too. If you’re new to the beauty box concept then this is definitely a great purse friendly box to start off with.
