If you want to switch out the fragrance you’ve been wearing all winter or need to grab a certain persons attention on Valentine’s Day, what better way than with the Perfume Society’s latest installment that treats your nose to a wide array of new and exciting scents! The *Scent with Love edition is the perfect collection to get you in the mood for lurve and is set to make any perfume-lover’s heart flutter with desire with a stunning edit of fragrances to suit everyone wildly searching for their next true scent love, from the many fragrances out there. Inside you’ll find utterly romantic choices from iconic perfume houses along with spellbinding new launches and great ‘finds’ from independent ‘rising stars’. For the first time ever they’re giving us two pre-launch sneak previews: Elie Saab Le Parfum Rose Couture and Shay & Blue’s classic-in-the-making English Cherry Blossom, in advance of their national release this spring, how exciting!
Showcasing a collective of vials and two beauty samples, the box introduces you to a wide array of new discoveries. Inside the box you can also expect to find information cards for each product with a detailed overview as well as some perfume blotters too so you’re pretty much all set on the discovery to find your next signature scent.
1. Shay & Blue English Cherry Blossom 2ml EDP
Top Notes: bergamt, pink cherry blossom and green madarin. Heart notes: black cherries, honey suckle and Iris. Base notes: cherry wood.
What better way to celebrate the upcoming arrival of spring than with a scent that’s dedicated to the first blossom and is just one of the exclusive yet to be launched samples that you can expect to see inside the box. I of course imagined this to be really old fashioned but it’s bright, fresh and just so pretty. I think Shay & Blue have done a very good job at capturing a mild, fresh spring day!
2. 4160 Tuesdays Sex Goddess 2.25ml EDP
Top notes: peach and blackcurrent. Heart notes: strawberry and geranium. Base notes: musk and vanilla.
Sarah McCartney, founder of Acton-based perfumery 4160 Tuesdays has created a heady fushion of fruit and florals combined with a vanilla musk accord to bring to mind the Technicolour glamour of the 1950’s. The scent is without a doubt really unusual and unique so I really welcome this to my collection.
3. Moschino Fresh Couture 1ml EDT
Top notes: mandarin and bergamot and ylang-ylang. Heart notes: raspberry white peony and osmanthus. Base notes: clear woods, white patchouli and ambrox.
Moschino definitely don’t do things by half and their latest fragrance release looks more at home under the sink than on the dressing table, I mean what were they thinking! Just looking at the Windolene bottle that houses this fragrance it’s pretty impossible to guess what it will smell like so I was delighted to see a sample of this new release inside the box.
With top notes of Bergamot and Mandarin with hints of peony and Ylang Ylang this really has a surprising twist, it’s clean, feminine, and sweet and no one would ever guess you squirted yourself with something that looks like a window cleaner!
Design aside, Moschino Fresh is exactly what the name suggests and if anything it’s definitely one of those novelty buys that will have everyone talking!
4. Elie Saab Rose Couture 0.8ml EDT
Top notes: orange blossom, silky rose petals and peony. Heart notes: rose nectar, fruity nuances, jasmine and vanilla. Base notes: patchouli and sandalwood.
Last November Fashion brand Elie Saab announced the launch of their brand new Rose Couture that’s due to land next month and excitedly there’s an exclusive sample inside the box which is pretty amazing!
Inspired by cascades of floral adornment, the notes include peony, ‘silken petals’, rose, vanilla, jasmine, sandalwood and patchouli. The scent is so dreamy and delicate and I can definitely see this being my go-to scent for spring.
5. Narciso Rodriguez For Her 0.8ml EDP
Top notes of rose and peach. Heart: amber and musk. Base: patchouli and sandalwood.
This is probably one of the most beautiful musky scents I’ve come across in quite a while. It’s soft and feminine, but at the same time very sensual and intense.
On the first spritz it’s really sweet but after a couple minutes the fragrance calms down and some of the other notes finally start to peek through. It’s sexy and a very playful scent that’s perfect for a night out or a first date.
6. Agonist Vanilla Marble 2ml EDP
Top notes of vanilla, almond and tiare flower; Heart notes: orchid, fig, amber and patchouli; Base notes: sandalwood, vanilla, tonka bean and siam benzoin.
There’s not much to be said about vanilla scented perfumes apart from they’re a little boring however Agonist have paired this with an assortment of notes which makes it smell more sensual rather than sickly sweet making this a cut above the majority of the multitude of vanilla fragrances available.
7. Juicy Couture I AM Juicy Couture 1.5ml EDP
Top Notes: raspberry, pomelo and passion fruit. Heart Notes: gardenia, heliotrope, sweet pea and rose de mal. Base notes: soft musk, warm woods and amber
As the name suggests this starts out really juicy and sweet, mostly with a mix of strong passionfruit and gardenia. If you like sweet florals, you will love this.
8. L’Artisan Parfumeur Mure et Musc 1.5ml EDT
Top notes of amalfi lemon, orange, mandarin orange and basil; Heart notes: blackberry and red berries. Base notes: musk and oakmoss.
Mure et Musc by L`Artisan Parfumeur is a clean, bright fragrance, with a very subtle fruitiness making it perfect for the warmer months.
9. Taylor Swift Incredible Things 1.5ml EDP
Top Notes: pink pepper and grapefruit. Heart notes: vanilla orchid, wild passion flower and suede flower. Base notes: White amber, creamy musk, vanilla from Madagascar and vetiver from Haiti.
Just looking at the packaging, I imagined this was going to be a light and fresh floral filled spring fragrance and I was so wrong!
Incredible Things by Taylor Swift is a fun and edgy fragrance, but also sophisticated and pleasing, it’s a great everyday scent that works just as well in the day as it does at night.
10. Aurelia Firm and Revitalising Dry Body Oil 5ml
The colder months are the perfect time of year to get on board with a dry body oil and this one by Aurelia contains 100% bio-organic, anti-inflammatory botanicals so it’s kind to your skin too. This ultra nourishing beauty staple is a great way to inject some much-needed moisture to parched skin
This sumptuous signature essential oil blend of Neroli, Lavender, Rose and Mandarin, combined with unique antioxidant-rich BioOrganic botanicals, works to revitalise the skin, soothe the senses and combat stress. The Firm & Revitalise Dry Body Oil is enriched with an abundance of precious oils working on all fronts: Macadamia and Borage oils provide rich essential fatty acids which help to firm the skin, Mongongo oil offers high levels of Vitamin E and Kukui oil helps hydrate and repair.
11. Timebomb Hand to Hand Combat Hand Cream 30ml
The Hand to Hand cream BY Timebomb fights the ageing process with a unique and revolutionary combination of vitamin E, essential fatty acids, pea extract and argan oil; an extract from trees native to Morocco. These trees date back over a million years and have recently been protected by the government following the discovery that argan oil has definite anti-ageing properties. This unusual hand cream works not only to plump and smooth hands but also serves as a mini-manicure by helping keep cuticles soft and under control.
My Verdict
With the start of a new year and Valentine’s Day around the corner, the Perfume Society have put together such an AH-mazing collective of fabulous florals, magical musks, crisp citrus delights, along with a couple of winter beauty saviours and I’m so in love! Quite possibly my favourite edition from their collection, not only is there a scent for every perfume fan it’s also a little more magical than usual as it features two yet to be released exclusives from Elie Saab and Shay Blue. As with all the Perfume Society discovery boxes there’s a very generous amount of samples so you’re bound to find something to tickle your fancy. Whether you’re looking for something romantic, sultry, something for day use and everything in between then the Scent with Love edition showcases a great array of fragrances that will not fail to get you noticed.
Whilst there’s no full sized products there is enough of each sample to use for at least 3 days or more giving you plenty of time to decide which one(s) you like best and they’re perfect for traveling too.
If you want to stand out from the crowd, steer away from the usual favourites or get bored of scents quickly like me then you’ll definitely want to grab this edition.
