The weather’s gloomy and needless to say I can’t wait to see the back of winter but the *February Birchbox brings some much needed sparkle and cheer with a line up that’s really got us covered from tip to toe with their “Shine Bright like a Diamond” edition. With exciting discoveries and exclusive products inside a pretty designed box, they’ve stuck to the theme throughout covering a good area of beauty that will not fail to get you glowing. This month, subscribers also get a first look at Birchbox’s new make up collection LOC in the form of an eyeshadow crayon and if you want to channel your inner mermaid then the lust-worthy powder brush from Spectrum Collections will be inside every February box!
Birchbox is a monthly beauty subscription service. The box consists of 4-5 selected hair, make-up and beauty products from well-known brands and emerging brands as well as throwing in a lifestyle extra too. 1. Spectrum Collections Tapered Powder Brush – RRP £7.99
I’m especially drawn to adorable mermaid-inspired packaging and it doesn’t get much more mermaid than this so I was really excited to see the Tapered Powder Brush by Spectrum Collection that’s very quickly become a favourite.
This medium sized brush is for fine application of highlighter, bronzer, or translucent powder to give you the perfect finishing touch and not only does it look awesome, the softness of the bristles feels pretty amazing on the face too. A very generous addition inside this month’s box that will not fail to impress.
2. LOC One and Done Shadow Stick – Full Size RRP £12.00
If you love adding colour to your eyes that lasts, then meet your new best friend from LOC (Love of Colour) Birchbox’s newly launched make up collection.
The One and Done Shadow stick is easy to apply, paraben-free, removes the need for multiple brushes, blenders, and primers to deliver up to 11 hours of creaseless, waterproof colour in just one swipe.
I received the shade Perfect Cents, a stunning metallic copper with light brown undertones and finely milled golden shimmer, makes it great for both a day and night look and I can see this suiting all skin tones.
3. Ole Henrikson Truth Serum Collagen Booster – Sample Size 7ml. Full Size £47.00
If you suffer from dull uneven skin tone, dry skin, large pores and prone to breakouts well look no further ladies because Ole Henriksen comes to the rescue! I’m a huge fan of his collection especially the facial oil so I was really delighted to see this serum packed with with lots of goodness.
Enriched with vitamin C and E to help soothe and heal the face, and strengthens the collagen to prevent and smooth fine line and wrinkles as well as anti-oxidants such as grapefruit and orange, licorice and rosehip extract to calm and even out the tone of skin while the sodium hyaluronate binds moisture to the skin.
This lightweight orange serum smells like citrus heaven, perfect to awaken your skin first thing in the morning. The texture is very light on the skin and goes on smooth without any greasiness but most of all I love how it feels on my oily skin.
4. Ayres Body Butter in Patagonia – Sample Size 28g. Full Size RRP £19.50
Ayres is an aromatherapeutic bath and body line inspired by Argentina and created by Alejandro Rasic.
Enriched with plant emollients, herbal extracts and vitamins, this ultra rich creamy body butter provides relief from dry, rough skin. Natural vitamins provide protection to your skin while shea nut butter gives long-lasting hydration. 5. theBalm Cosmetics Frat Boy Blush/Shadow – Sample Size. Full Size RRP £15.50
Adorable packaging, cute names, and great quality is just some of the reasons why I love receiving samples from theBalm Cosmetics!
Frat Boy is a soft apricot peach that gives you the prettiest natural flushed skin. The powder is smooth, pigmented and has the very subtlest of light reflecting particles that looks matte once applied. A little goes a long way so whilst the sample is teeny it really does pack a punch!
6. Extra Beauty Bonus – L. Erickson Grab & Go Ponytail Holder – x1. RRP £11.50 for a set of 15
Constructed of thick, sturdy elastic, this ponytail holder by L. Erikson is metal-free, non-damaging and offer exceptional hold. I’m forever losing my hair ties (think their having a party with all the bobby pins that also dissapear!) so very much welcome a spare from a brand I’ve not tried before.
My Verdict
This month’s box really does intend to do what it sets out and I must say it’s definitely brought some much needed cheer and sparkle on this gloomy weekend. Showcasing a good variety of beauty from skin, body and hair care rescuers to much needed pick me ups in the form of make up and a beautiful powder brush I’m so smitten with this months edition, there’s so much to love! Featuring products I’ve not tried before from both well known and emerging brands there’s some really interesting finds this month making the unboxing experience that little more interesting and as always they’ve stuck to the theme inside and out. I think there’s definitely quite a few products I’ll be packing inside my suitcase when I’m off on my little Arabian adventure in a couple of weeks and being travel sized their the perfect companions.
Whilst Birchbox send out smaller samples with 1-2 full sized items, in my opinion they are much more consistent and are more likely to send you something that you feel the need to purchase. If you love all things beauty and mermaids then you won’t want to miss out on this months box!
