I’m a little late to the party with my *May Cohorted Beauty Box review mainly because I’ve been playing catch up with all my blog posts this month (the joys of working full-time!). I’ve followed Cohorted’s journey from the very start and they’ve definitely introduced me to so many wonderful discoveries and while their boxes usually represent great value I can’t help but feel their May edition is a little lacking on the line up front as there’s only three full sized products and the value isn’t great either, a huge difference in comparison to previous curations. Having said that they have stuck to the theme throughout with pops of colour that scream summer and a handy travel sized scent from Jimmy Choo.
The May edition showcases the brands Thebalm, HJ Manicure, Hourglass and Jimmy Choo, all of which are beautifully presented inside their signature black box secured with an organza ribbon giving it a very luxurious look and feel.
1. theBalm Voyage Vol 2 Palette – Full Size RRP £37.50
I think you’ll agree this palette from thebalm definitely steals the limelight and is probably the main highlight inside this month’s box. This beautifully packaged all rounder make-up palette includes nine eye-shadows, a highlighter, a bronzer, two blushes and two lip and cheek stains. I’ve tried quite a few products from thebalm and the amazing pigmentation and quality has definitely been passed down to this palette too. It’s such a lovely addition this month and makes a great companion when travelling. If you’ve been wanting to try out any of thebalm products then this is definitely the best place to start.
2. Hourglass Opaque Rouge Gloss – Full Size RRP £23.00
Hourglass isn’t a brand that I’ve tried before so I was excited to see them featured within this months line up.
While there’s something so fierce and energetic about an orange pout in the summer the shade Riviera is a little on the bright side for me, I would have much preferred something a little more muted!
This states being a gloss but it’s actually matte which was a nice surprise! Containing Vitamin E to moisturise and protect, it’s also antioxidant rich with Cili Fruit and Goji Berry extract to help protect the lips. It comes with a doe-foot style applicator in super sleek, high-quality packaging, which makes it fairly easy to apply. Usually I find matte shades a little flat but this one really pops!
3. HJ Manicure Nail Polish – Full Size RRP £9.50
One of the best parts of the change in season is swapping out all those wintery shades for pretty pastels and brights and this feminine shade in Lavender from HJ Manicure boasts being cruelty-free and vegan too.
4. Jimmy Choo EDP – Travel Size 4.5ml, worth £10.00
Last but not least is a travel sized version of Jimmy Choo that promises to deliver a dazzling aura of glittering femininity with Crisp Green Notes, Ginger, Tea Rose, Tiger Orchid, Cedarwood, Vibrant Wood. If you lean more towards sweet scents then this hits all the right notes and is a good choice for both day and evening wear.
My Verdict
I wasn’t overly wowed with this month’s box as a whole mainly due to the lack of items and the value but that aside I do love what they’ve put together. Containing pops of colour on the make up and nails front as well as a sexy luxe fragrance from Jimmy Choo the line up really does ooze all things summer and includes some great travel companions for those hot sunny days ahead of us whether you’re having a staycation or planning a trip abroad. In addition to the brands we all love and know there’s also a couple of new discoveries for me so it was refreshing to see these on board as there’s been quite a few brand repeats this year inside the Cohorted boxes so I hope this is something that continues.
If you lust over premium and high end brands or simply want a guilt-free treat each month the Cohorted Beauty Box really is great for that.
