After last month’s bold statement Glossybox, this month sees the return of the iconic pink box and for their October edition they’ve joined forces with beauty and lifestyle blogger Estée Lalonde to bring us the Discovery Edit showcasing a selection of some of her favourite products in addition to a mystery haircare brand that she’s just revealed on her blog! Featuring a little bit of everything ranging from skin and body care, hair and make up it’s another well-rounded addition that puts both familiar and unknown brands in the spotlight plus the majority is full sized so it’s a great value for money haul this month.

Glossybox is a monthly beauty subscription service. The box consists of 4-5 selected hair, make-up , body and nail products from well-known brands and new brands and includes a mixture of full sized and sample products.

1.  Trifle Cosmetics Lip Parfait Buttery Lip Cream  – Full Size RRP £12.95

If you subscribe to the So Susan Lip Love Bag then you’ll already be very familiar with the brand Trifle Cosmetics and this lip product is unfortunately something I’ve already been introduced to in a previous bag.

The Lip Parfait by Trifle Cosmetics is a lipstick that also doubles up as lip treatment and applies like butter to impart a soft, moisturising shade of colour to your lips. It’s infused with cocoa butter to keep lips plumped and hydrated all day long, as well as silicon-coated colour pigments so the colour is never dull or feathery, and lips look refreshed, hydrated and super soft.

I’ve really got a soft spot for these pretty cardboard lipsticks but the shade “Exotic Fruits” is a very pale peachy nude that looks so awful on my pale skin!

2.   PS…Pro Finishing Powder –  Full Size RRP £5.00

Don’t get me wrong I am by no means a make up snob and have discovered some great high street finds but I’ve got mixed feelings about a Primark product being amongst the line up this month!

The lightweight, ultra fine powder is talc-free and promises to set foundation for a long lasting finish while mattifying your skin too – great for us oily skin types!

Admittedly, I’ve not tried much from their make up line and haven’t had the opportunity to try this yet so I won’t make any judgement just yet, who knows it might pleasantly surprise me!

3.   Universal Beauty Cosmetics Secret Flush Soothing Cream Blusher – Full size RRP £15.00

Lastly on the make up front is a new beauty find from Universal Beauty Cosmetics. Promising to instantly brighten up a dull day with an amazing glow and subtle finish, the Secret Flush Soothing Cream Blusher also doubles up as a lip product too!

This formula melts onto the skin and while I’m not usually a fan of cream blushers this one blends really well leaving a lovely flush of colour to the cheeks and works just as well on the lips, the shade is perfect for autumn.

4.   Bee Good Honey & Camelina Facial Exfoliator – Full Size 50ml RRP £10.50

I’ve not tried much from Bee Good but they have such an amazing ethos and use ingredients from British bee hives in their products which promise to make a huge difference to your skin as well as keeping those little bees busy too!

Enriched with a powerhouse of natural active ingredients, including moisturising British Wildflower Honey and British Camelina, and restorative Wheatgerm Oil, the exfoliator utilises milled Lavender flowers to delicately polish the skin without irritation, lifting away dulling dead skin cells to leave the skin smooth and bright.

5.   Rituals Sakura Body Cream – Travel Size 5oml RRP £6.00

Rituals is one of my favourite brands that effortlessly transports me to a place of zen so I was delighted to see their Body Cream inside my box this month to pair up with my beloved shower foam from the same collection.

Containing a unique blend of antioxidants, Vitamin E and the ingredient Centella Asiatica, which helps strengthen your skin, the formula promises to intensively nourish and firm the skin while the rice milk and cherry provides a very spring inspired scent that’s fresh yet very calming.

6.   Mystery Haircare Brand!

I love that there’s a little bit of a twist inside this month’s Glossybox and judging solely by the bottle I think this mystery haircare brand might just be Head and Shoulders (now confirmed and I was right!) I think it’s also pretty exciting that Glossybox subscribers get to try this innovative shampoo before it hits the shelves.

This claims to be the brands biggest breakthrough in ten years and the formula not only cares for the scalp but it also protects the health of hair and keeps it nourished and shiny.

My Verdict

I do love a good collaboration box and this month’s discovery edit definitely showcased quite a few highlights from brands that I’m already familiar with in addition to some new finds too plus I love the little twist in terms of the shampoo! For me personally, there’s a couple of the products that let this box down however the varied beauty line up, the generous sized products and the overall value definitely made up for the shortfall. I’m particularly excited to see how the PS…Pro compares against my Laura Mercier setting powder! Overall I thought the October Glossybox contained some practical products for everyday as well as a good mix of make up to perk up dull winter skin.

November Spoiler: Inside next month’s box you’ll discover the De Bruyere Beaute Jumbo Eye Pencil.
