Admittedly, I did fall in and out of love with my Cohorted beauty boxes last year but I think they’ve definitely kick started the year on a good note with a well-rounded edition that covers mainly hair and skin care in addition to some make up treats. Featuring generous sized samples in addition to some full sized products it’s worth an incredible £122.00 and excitingly, there’s also a couple of brands I’ve been wanting to try more from so that was a lovely bonus!

The January edition showcases the brands ClarinsMud Masky, Living Proof and Doucce all of which are beautifully presented inside their signature black box secured with a ribbon giving it a very luxurious look and feel.

Up first we have two products from haircare brand Living Proof in the form of their Flex Shaping Hairspray (Travel size 99ml RRP £15.00) and Restore Mask (60ml RRP £12.00) both of which come in handy travel sizes. Their product line is developed by world-class biotech scientists and beauty experts, and they have over 45 industry awards to date. Excitedly, the company is also co-owned by Jennifer Anniston! I first came across this brand via another beaury box and absolutely loved their Restore Instant Repair Cream so I’m really looking forward to trying out these two new discoveries.

Another brand I’ve always wanted to try more of is from Clarins, I’ve only tried a very small handful of their collection but the one product I fell in love with the most was their liquid eyeliner pen but typically and much to my disappointment they discontinued it! Inside this month’s box you can expect to see the Jolie Rouge Lip liner in the shade Chocolate (Full size RRP £20.00) accompanied by the Jolie Rouge Longer Shine lipstick (Full size RRP £20.00) from the same collection in the shade Royal Plum however I don’t think they pair very well together especially when the lipstick is plum and the liner is brown however I’ll definitely be able to incorporate these with other products I own.

Lastly on the make-up front is the Doucce Maxlash Voluminzer Mascara (Full size RRP £18.00) , an american brand that’s completely new on my radar but they combine high fashion hues and contemporary packaging, to create the perfect combination of trendy and très chic. When it comes to mascaras I’m extremely picky and they don’t all perform despite their bold claims but I’m pleased to report this one is such a good all-rounder and delivers on all fronts. The formula blackens the lashes, lengthens, provides volume and doesn’t clump even after three coats which is pretty impressive! The only downside is it’s not waterproof but I can live with that!

Described as a natural way to detoxify & renew your skin within a few minutes, the mask refines pores and brightens, while keeping your skin hydrated and smooth. It also helps to balance your skin’s pH for a perfect complexion and promises to leave your skin looking visibly healthier, energized and plumper. I’m not entirely sure why we have three identical samples (oops! think I got sent three instead of two) from Mud Masky (x2 20ml samples worth £40.00) but having said that it’s a very generous amount especially when you take into account the fact that the full size retails for £59.00! I’ve received this very same mask via other boxes and have been meaning to try it out but sometimes life just gets in the way! After watching a blogger video they posted on their instagram page I wasted no time in smothering this on my face and the results were actually quite impressive and I certainly noticed a visible difference in terms of how brighter and healthier my skin looked, a couple of my spots also didn’t look as angry anymore! The formula actually reminds me of Glamglow as it contains the tiny leaf pieces and even tingles a little when on and was so much more easier to apply!  I really wasn’t expecting this like this as much as I do but the only aspect that let this down for me was it lacked on the hydrating front – think I’ll try leaving this on for less time!

My Verdict

There’s some things I really loved about this month’s box and some things that I didn’t love so much such as the multiple products from the same brands and the mismatched lip liner and lipstick but other than that they covered a good ground on the beauty front plus I got quite a few products from brands I’ve been wanting to try more from so these were welcome additions. I don’t actually think there’s anything I won’t be able to make use out which is quite amazing, considering that I can be very picky but from what I’ve tried so far the main standouts are the mask and the mascara both of which really surprised me in terms of their performance. Value-wise the box totals up to a very respectable £122.00 and there’s a very generous eight products on board this month which doesn’t happen often as they usually only include five or six!
