There’s no debating that Look Incredible have delivered a host of soild curations this year but in all honesty I’m just not feeling their May edition due to my own personal preferences, it’s a little underwhelming in comparison to previous months! On the plus side it does feature products I’ve not tried before from some of my favourite brands and every single item is full sized which means the £35.00 price tag is very quickly redeemed as the value is around £90-£100 each month.
If you’re new to Look Incredible they offer three types of beauty boxes which range from £25 to £65 and aim to deliver lust worthy beauty treats (mainly make-up) from brands we all love and know straight to your door and no spoilers are released so it’s a complete surprise when it arrives.
Here’s what I received inside the May Deluxe edition:
Up first and only item that really grabbed my attention this month is the MAC Selena Powder Blush Duo (RRP £26.00), a limited edition collaboration created in 2016. The two shades in one compact is designed to provide fantastic colour with ease and consistency and promises to apply evenly, adheres lightly to the skin for a natural-looking application. It’s also specially packaged in purple featuring Selena’s signature colour in lavender. It’s always a treat to receive limited edition make-up and I’m really liking this particular blush as it a gives a lovely natural flush of colour plus how gorgeous is that purple packaging!
Next we have another blush which can also be used on the lips and it’s the Smashbox L.A. Lights Blendable Lip & Cheek Color (RRP £26.00). This lightweight, brightening formula gives a beautifully illuminated, veil of natural colour for cheeks, lips and face with a double-ended flat buffing sponge on one end and a curved dome on the other. I’m not a fan of these kinds of sticks when it comes blushers and the shade does not make this the tiniest bit wearable on my pale skin but it does work much better for me as a lip product. It’s a shame Look Incredible opted to send out such an autumnal hue.
The third product out of the box and something that doesn’t interest me at all is the Fusion Beauty LipFusion XXL (RRP £20.00), a day and night treatment packed with powerful technology that offers active caffeine and Niacin ingredients, while Volulip creates a long lasting cushion effect for increased volume and voluptuous shape.
Mascara is definitely on top of the list when it comes to what I put on my face every day and last out of the box we have Too Faced Queen Size Mascara (RRP £21.00). The massive, corkscrew shaped brush boasts both long, lengthening bristles and short, volumising fibers that grab, coat and condition every single lash for a lavish, layered effect! The formula contains a combination of panthenol and vitamins C and E to keep lashes healthy, while red algae increase keratin resistance for maximum lash flexibility. I’m not too sure how I feel about the brush, it’s massive and has disaster written all over it!
My Verdict
So there you have it, my unboxing and review of this month’s Look Incredible Deluxe Beauty Box and I’m not going to lie it’s not one of my favourite edits from them especially when you take a look at their previous curations from the last few months. For me personally there was nothing inside this month’s box that particularly blew me away and although they’ve picked out some good, well-known brands, the blush was the only item that I actually liked! I guess the Smashbox item wasn’t too bad, it’s a shame Look Incredible didn’t opt for a more seasonal hue and in terms of the mascara it will be interesting to see how it applies as the brush is much bigger than what I’m used to! Here’s to hoping Look Incredible will be back on track for their June edition as it’s been a hell of a while since I’ve been disappointed with one their boxes.
