I’ve got to admit Birchbox really do include some fantastic products inside their curations not to mention the pretty box designs they bring us month on month but receiving press boxes means sometimes I miss out on that personalisation but this month something the out of the ordinary happened – everything single item I was hoping for turned up and needless to say it’s most definitely my favourite box by far from this year. Covering all areas of beauty, their September ‘On Top of your World’ edition features brands I’ve been wanting to get my hands on forever in addition to a brand new Huile Prodigieuse formula from Nuxe – one of favourite oils to apply!

If you’re new to Birchbox they are one of the main leaders in the beauty box subscription market. Each month they’ll send you 5 deluxe sample and travel size beauty products (including the occasional full-size!) You can expect a mix of make-up, skincare, body, and haircare to upgrade your beauty routine.

Without further ado here’s what I received inside my September Birchbox (Contents may vary. Please see the September spoiler post to see what you may receive).

Up first and the item that got me all excited was the Sand & Sky Australian Pink Clay – Flash Perfection Exfoliating Treatment (Sample size). I’ve seen this brand everywhere on social media and I was so, so gutted that I missed out on their mask from a previous Birchbox. Being oily skinned and someone who gets breakouts, this quick-fix exfoliates, absorbs excess oil and refines pores to revitalise and mattify the skin. Macadamia and bamboo provide physical exfoliation to gently slough off dead skin while the Australian pink clay purifies pores and the fruit acids stimulate skin to grant that illusive, lit-from-within glow. I don’t usually get excited about skin care but I can’t wait to try this out over the weekend.

I first fell in love with Marcelle when Birchbox introduced me to their BB Cream earlier this year and I literally use it every day so I was happy to to try something else from their collection in the form of their City 24H Anti-Pollution Day & Night Moisturizing Emulsion (sample size). Formulated to fight the visible effects of pollution like dullness and dehydration, this moisturiser shields skin from environmental stressors while hydrating and brightening.

Another brand I’ve missed out on is Klorane so I was delighted to see their Conditioner with Mango Butter (Travel size) but I would have been even more delighted had Birchbox included the shampoo too! The conditioner works to restore moisture and softness to dried out tresses and provide a high level of repair and restructure. Hair is protected, nourishing and detangled with each and every use. Traditionally used for its nourishing properties, mango is very rich in essential fatty acids with scientifically proven replenishing properties. Dehydration is prevented thanks to the unique butter that is extracted from the mango kernel, and glossy hair is restored.

Next out of the box I received the cutest mini Benefit Goldrush Blush and all subscribers can pick either this one or Benefit Galifornia. This golden-nectar blush gives any look a natural-looking warm glow! Embossed with a stunning “golden nugget” overspray, the specialized formula gradually lifts away to reveal a rich, nectar shade infused with delicate, golden flecks throughout the powder. The soft, blendable formula also features a signature scent with notes of citrus, vanilla & sandalwood.

Lastly is the NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Riche (sample size), a brand new formula that hydrates super dry skin with a blend of nourishing oils alongside that beautiful signature scent. I think this so apt for the upcoming winter months and I absolutely love the original so I’ll definitely be saving this.

My Verdict

This month’s Birchbox turned out to be such a good one for me! Not only did the line-up include brands I’ve been curious about for a while but it also encompassed a good range of beauty and included an interesting selection of discoveries that I’ve not tried before, something I really love as it always encourages me to get outside my comfort zone and try something new. While the overall value isn’t going to blow you away and the samples are on the small side, I’ve gone on to purchase so many full sizes from Birchbox – my recent being the Marcelle BB cream. My only nit-picky disappoint is they didn’t include the matching shampoo from Klorane but other than that I’m really chuffed with my contents and can’t wait to try them all out over the weekend.
