When Glossybox revealed not one but two different box designs with two line-up variations presented in either Trick or Treat for October, I of course typically ended up with the trick box which I’m absolutely loving by the way despite secretly wanting the treat version due to the pink Illamasqua shade! Regardless of the variations from box to box, there’s so much to love this month from the box designs, the content and brands they’ve partnered up with right through to the value. Did I mention both boxes focus on cruelty-free products this month and the line-up is mainly centred around make-up which adds to the appeal even more!

If you’re new to Glossybox, it’s a monthly subscription box that comes packed with both deluxe-sized and full-size products and covers all areas of beauty from skin care, hair, nails, make-up and everything else in between from brands we all love and know as well as those hidden gems too! The box costs £13.25 per month and contains contents which always exceed the overall subscription price.

Here’s what I received inside my October Trick Glossybox:

Adventurous lipstick shades don’t usually work their way into my makeup routine hence why I was hoping for the pink shade, but this is going to come in very handy for when I go to Fright night! The Illamasqua Antimatter Lipstick in the Energy (Full Size RRP £20.00) is described as a vibrant violet and will not fail to get you noticed! This long lasting, colour intense lipsticks with a semi-matte cushioned finish is half-way between matte and satin and glides onto lips smoothly and comfortably with continuous wear. My skin is as pale as a ghost at my moment and this shade isn’t something I would have picked out for myself but it’s actually really pretty and not as scary as I thought – nice trick Glossybox!

Taking me back to my comfort zone is the Sleek iDivine Eyeshadow Palette in Au Natural (Full Size RRP £) which is my kind of palette! You can create so many different looks with this and it’s great for all year round but some of shades from the top row was somewhat poor and almost useless as they were chalky and not very visible! The bottom row however is the complete opposite and I can definitely see myself using the shimmery shades.

Up next we have a HD Finishing Powder from Luna by Luna (Full Size RRP £16.72), a brand I’m not familiar but I’m always up for trying new make-up! Hailing from New Jersey, this cruelty-free setting powder sets your make-up to keep your skin smooth for hours. The lightweight formula soaks up access oil while softening fine lines and hiding pores and is recommended to be used with a beauty blender.

The This Works in Transit Camera Close-Up (Sample size 20ml) was featured inside the March Glossybox last year so I’m a little sad that they snuck this in again! This moisturiser, mask and primer all in one formula promises to even, plump and brighten your skin with a powerful blend of repairing plant oils as well as a boost of caffeine to erase signs of fatigue and makes your skin look radiant. You can also use this as a thick mask, while you are flying to lock in moisture.

Last but not least is the MUA Luxe Bronze & Sculpt Contour Kit in Light/Medium (Full Size. RRP: £5.00), a bronzing and highlighting duo compact, perfect for effortless contouring. First off, I love the packaging and inside there’s a handy mirror with the first layer of shimmery highlighter and hidden underneath is a matte contour bronzing powder which I completely forgot to photograph …oops! I have fair skin and both the bronzer and the highlighter really suit my skin, it’s not super intense and instead looks so natural, glowy and beautiful. This little kit turned out to be a lot better than I expected!

My Verdict

I was secretly hoping for the treat edit but as the story goes and in true Halloween style I ended up with the trick version which to be fair I’m not too sad about at all! I absolutely love what Glossybox have put forward this month from the design, the contents which are all cruelty-free right through to the value and considering the majority is make-up and full sized I’d say the box definitely ended up being a treat – nice try Glossybox! Despite this curation being Halloween themed, the products are not restricted in any way and can be used all year round and I love the focus on make –up, always a bonus when that happens! I’ve not tried everything as of yet but so far the Illamasqua Lipstick and the MUA Luxe Bronze & Sculpt Kit are the two items that surprised me the most, the lipstick even more so as I’m not the most adventurous when it comes to bold shades but it turned out to be my favourite product out of the box!

November Sneak Peek: All subscribers will receive a FULL SIZE Huda Beauty Matte Liquid Lipstick worth £18.00!
