This month’s Birchbox design is giving me all the autumn feels and it’s filled with feel-good beauty treats to make those chilly and miserable days that little more beautiful. For October, their Days Like These edition is all about slowing down, cosying up at home (sounds good to me!) and once again contains another winning line-up for me and even includes some full sizes which doesn’t happen often so that was an unexpected but nice surprise! If you fancy subscribing don’t forget to use the code at the end of this post as you’ll get two FREE mystery boxes alongside your October box – yes that’s 3 boxes for just £12.95!
If you’re new to Birchbox they are one of the main leaders in the beauty box subscription market. Each month they’ll send you 5 deluxe sample and travel size beauty products (including the occasional full-size!) You can expect a mix of make-up, skincare, body, and haircare to upgrade your beauty routine.
Without further ado here’s what I received inside my October Birchbox (Contents may vary. Please see the October spoiler post to see what you may receive).
Up first and something all subscribers can expect to see is their BeautyPro Thermotherapy Warming Mask (Full size x1) pick. With two different variations subscribers can either pick the BeautyPro Thermotherapy Warming Mask in Silver (Full size) which hydrates, energises and brightens fatigued skin or the gold version which restores, moisturises and reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles thanks to hyaluronic acid and Q10. Both masks are suitable for all skin types.
On the hair care front we have the amika Soulfood Nourishing Mask, a formula that deeply conditions, hydrates and restores dry hair to its natural vibrancy and health. It contains Sea buckthorn berry which is rich in vitamin C and A, antioxidants and healthy omega fatty acids, including the essential omega-7. Jojoba seed oil fills in cracks on the cuticle surface alongside Vitamin C which reduces the formation of free radicals. This worked quite well for my frizzy hair and didn’t weigh it down at all plus it’s great pre-blow dry treat – my hair felt so soft after! Thanks to Birchbox, I’ve collected quite a few different samples from amika and I’ve been really impressed, enough to make me consider purchasing the full sizes!
I’ve seen Winky Lux pop up quite a lot on social media and it’s a brand I’ve been wanting to try so I was delighted to see that their Strobing Balm in Radiant Pink (travel size) made the cut inside my box! This highlighter promises to apply smoothly and melt into skin, creating a high-impact, dewy glow. How cute is the packaging? The shade is definitely me and very wearable.
Up next is the Daily Concepts Multi-Functional Charcoal Soap Sponge (Full size), an item that has me quite intrigued! Described as a multi- functional soap sponge which has charcoal soap on the outside and sponge on the inside, it’s infused with detoxifying charcoal to purge skin of impurities and elevate the overall texture of skin and the sponge sponge creates a soapy and exfoliating experience.
You can’t beat those everyday essentials and although the Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant Bergamot and Lime (Full size) isn’t the most exciting item out of the box it’s definitely a handy one and something I can see myself using. With an award-winning formula, it offers long lasting protection against odour to keep you feeling fresh all day long and is easily absorbed and has a non-greasy, non-sticky feel
Last out of the box and an extra bonus treat is the Lumene Hydration Overnight Cream (Sachet sample) which works to release hydration deep into the skin all night long and ensures both instant and long-lasting hydration. Lumene Lähde Hydration Recharge Overnight Cream contains Pure Arctic Spring Water to promote the appearance of a healthy-looking complexion, replenishing Organic Nordic Birch Sap and an exclusive Hydra-Technology, supporting continuous hydration throughout the night.
My Verdict
For me, this month’s Birchbox really had it all, there was something new to try from a brand I already love in addition to some newbies, a good variety on the line-up front, 3 full sizes and every single item for me was absolutely new which in turn definitely added to the excitement of this month’s unboxing. My favourites so far from what I’ve tried include the hair mask, the strobing balm and the deodorant. All in all, I think this month’s edit is quite possibly my favourite from this year plus I really like the autumn box design – I’m such a sucker for pretty packaging but thankfully the contents were also good!
