Latest in Beauty are definitely on a mission this month and their beauty box editions are coming thick and fast with another launch of a brand new box in partnership with Capital FM to bring us beauty enthusiasts the hottest beauty picks for the season from behind the scenes. The Capital Beauty Box features 9 beauty products and focuses mainly on make up (music to make up lover’s ears!) alongside some nail products, a gorgeous perfume sample and a childhood classic which has made a fashionably comeback recently. The box showcases a great mixture of brands from both medium-end to budget-friendly brands and includes mainly all full sized products making it great value for money for only £14.95. The line-up itself is a hit for me as it gives a much welcomed break from skincare and simply just focuses on the more pretty and colourful aspect of beauty.
1. Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner – Full Size RRP £13.00
I’ve read great reviews about this pencil and being an eyeliner obsessive I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this.
There are different shade variants and I received black amethyst which is a dark purple edging towards an almost black. The deep pigment along with the creamy texture really defines the eyes and it’s incredible staying power really is something to write home about. I had this on for almost 6 hours and it remained in tact, didn’t budge or smudge and looked just as fresh as when I applied it. I’m really impressed with my first introduction to Stila’s eyeliner and will be definitely be looking into more of their other shade options.
2. Rimmel 60 Seconds Super Shine Nail Polish by Rita Ora – Full Size RRP £2.99
As well as Rita Ora’s amazing voice she’s also become a style icon and has teamed up with Rimmel to bring a collection of twelve new festival-inspired shades.
I received the shade Glaston-berry and it’s a lovely coral shade which will blend in seamlessly with the sunny days ahead of us.
3. Pixi Lip Blush – Full Size RRP £12.50
I’ve tried a few make-up bits from Pixi and I just adore the girly packaging and was happy to see this lip stain which also doubles up as a blush too. I received the shade Energy which is a vibrant coral/apricot colour.
The applicator itself isn’t something I’ve tried before and pretty much has the same look and feel of a felt-tip pen. The sheer, matte-finish has great staying power but your lips will need to be super-soft to pull this off, I actually found exfoliating the lips helped a great deal. The felt-tip nib really gives you that precision and you can even build the colour to get a stronger hue to achieve a vibrant pop of colour. With the formula being water based it feels really comfortable on the lips and there was no stickiness or tacky feeling, and the stain itself had a pleasantly fruity (but not sickly sweet) fragrance, which evaporated after a few minutes. I was expecting this stain to really dry out my lips but surprisingly it kept my lips nice and soft.
4. Collection Eyes Uncovered Palette – Full Size RRP £3.99
I love neutral eyeshadow palettes especially on days when I’m really pressed for time as it helps me to create a quick look that works no matter what I’m planning for the day and this palette by Collection houses a full line up of some basic but easy to work with matte shades.
The palette itself is cardboard and I can see this getting a little battered inside my make up bag! I received the Nude palette and inside there’s six neutral shades alongside a double ended applicator. Having swatched all of the shades, I found that some worked better than others whilst a couple just didn’t show up on my pale complexion as much as I’d liked – I so need a tan!
5. Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer – Full Size RRP £5.99
This lip shimmer by Burt’s Bees is infused with skin loving ingredients such as Shea Butter and antioxidant-rich Fruit Oils to moisturise, nourish and soften lips naturally.
I received the shade Grapefruit, a lovely frosted pink and it’s definitely a colour I would of pick myself.
This applies quite sheer whilst adding a natural boost of colour with a subtle shimmer. Just like the original Burt’s Bees lip balms this does a wonderful job at hydrating the lips and you also get the added bonus of the mintiness alongside the tingling sensation too.
6. Collection Lengthening Mascara – Full Size RRP £3.99
I much prefer length as opposed to volume when it comes to mascara, and was happy to see another product from Collection in the form of their lengthening mascara.
The wand has tiny spikes which aids in building a fine layer of mascara on the lashes and does a great job at separating each lash individually without any clumping. The black formula is quite pigmented and gives the lashes a bold but natural finish. It’s quite buidable too and in terms of length, it certainly delivered and the finish looked very natural without looking too chunky making it great for every use. For the price, it’s a complete steal!
7. Stylondon Temporary Tattoos – Full Size (1 sheet) RRP £3.99
Who remembers temporary tattoos from their childhood? I certainly do and recently they’ve made a popular comeback but in a much more sophisticated style. These gold transfers appear to be all the rage at the moment and on-trend. Whilst I’m not too sure whether I could pull these off, I think they would look great at festivals or when strolling along a beach!
8. Nail Buffer – Full Size
I got this same nail buffer in a beauty box last year and it’s something that I reach out for when I want my naked nails to look great fast. It’s also great for preparing the nail bed before applying nail varnish and it makes my nails super shiny too.
9. Jimmy Choo Fragrance – Sample Vial 2ml
I already own this luscious fragrance by Jimmy Choo and this sample will certainly come in handy for top up’s on the go. This perfume oozes elegance in a very refined way and If you love fruity fragrances with woody, floral elements you will love this.
I’m constantly on the hunt for products that last longer, group all the necessities together and generally make life a little easier, so naturally I was over the moon when I received this box as there’s a great variety of products which showcases medium-end to more budget friendly beauty brands giving you an opportunity to discover the best of both worlds. The line-up itself is a hit for me as it gives a much welcomed break from skincare and simply just focuses on the more pretty and colourful aspect of beauty mainly consisting of make up, nail products and the added bonus of the fragrance and the trendy tattoos. Most of the products were all new discoveries for me and with the majority being all full sized I think it’s great value for money and there’s quite few gems which will simply surprise you in terms of their quality.
Overall I’ve really enjoyed discovering everything within this box and there’s nothing that I won’t continue to use apart from the temporary tattoo’s which I’m still in two minds about but who knows I could be swayed as they do look really pretty!
Individually, the products would cost £48.00, but you can get your hands on the whole lot for just £14.95 including free postage making it super-affordable and great value for money.
