Nailbox is a new monthly subscription in town and being a self-confessed nail varnish obsessive I very much welcome this new launch, and with it being the only primary subscription box in the UK that offers this focused concept you can expect to see an things nails line up from nail varnish to essential tools. After Winter’s moody hues, the April Nailbox being their first ever edition looked really promising even from the outset and inside you can expect to see a beautiful selection of pretty pastels and bright on-trend colours perfect for bringing a touch of spring to your nails. I personally love to coordinate with the seasons and the chosen colours for this month’s box are definitely what I would of picked out myself. The box boasts well-known and loved brands such as Essie, OPI, Revlon and China Glaze which is pretty impressive as I only know too well how expensive some of these are to buy individually so in terms of value it’s fantastic.

Nailbox is a monthly subscription box and each edition will contain five items (including three or four nail polishes and one or two nail tools or treatments) and you don’t need to worry about duplicate colours as there will always be new colours for you to try every single month.

Inside the box is four nail varnishes and a Essie Nail File.

1. OPI Kiss Me on My Tulips Nail Lacquer – Full Size. RRP £10.75

Eeek! I love a great pink creme and it’s from OPI too, a brand that I absolutely adore! OPI Kiss me on my tulips is a bright pink and edges towards a hot pink, but it’s slightly subdued. As with all OPI nail varnishes, the formula applies effortlessly and only requires a couple of coats for an opaque finish. The shade is beautiful in it’s own right and although I own more pinks than any other colour, this one is definitely one of my favourites.

2. Revlon Buttercup Colorstay Nail Enamel  – Full Size RRP £7.99

I’ve tried a few nail varnishes from the Revlon Colorstay collection and absolutely adore the formula alongside the brush which makes nail painting a complete doddle.

Buttercup is a unique addition to my nail polish collection. It’s a beautiful soft pastel yellow shade and is an instant mood lifter with it being such a happy colour.

I’ve never really got on with yellow shades in the past as they take around three coats to become fully opaque but this formula only takes a couple of coats and if it’s like the Colorstay varnishes I’ve tried it will wear really well.

3. Essie Muchi Muchi Nail Lacquer  – Full Size RRP £7.99

I love Essie so was really pleased to see this within the box and the shade Muchi Muchi is really popular amongst nail addicts and I can really see why, it’s gorgeous.

The shade reminds me strawberry milkshake and candy floss!  It does require a few coats but the beautiful colour and glossy finish is impressive.  I love the shade as it’s a really easy to wear pink that almost anyone could pull-off.

4. China Glaze Peachy Keen Nail Lacquer – Full Size RRP £3.95

Peachy Keen by China Glaze is a very interesting colour because it’s like nothing else I own. I usually steer clear of orange shades mainly because I’ve never been able to pull them off unless I’ve got a tan but this one seems quite muted on the swatch and leans more towards a pastel shade so it will be interesting to see if this suits my pale complexion.

5. Essie Nail File – Full Size RRP £1.99

Aside from the nail varnishes Nailbox also include a nail tool within their editions and tucked inside the box is an Essie Nail File. It has the same look and feel as any other nail emery file but I guess with it being an Essie one kind of makes it that little more special.

My Verdict

I’ve fallen head over heels, there’s so much to love about this subscription box.  With the April box being their first ever edition, Nailbox have literally hit the nail on the head and have curated the perfect collection that beautifully captures the colour essence of spring. As well as the great variety of shades the box also featured well-known and high-end brands, all of which are on-trend and absolutely gorgeous.  Keeping to the nail theme it was also great to see a nail tool in the form of nail file from Essie, the one’s I own aren’t branded so I very much welcome this one. Being a nail varnish obsessive I only know too well how expensive some of these brands are so in terms of value it’s fantastic whilst being on the affordable side of the scale too.

The box itself is robust and packaged very well which ensures that the nail polishes arrived in tip top condition.

If you tend to stick to classic shades this box definitely gives you the opportunity to try something which you normally wouldn’t reach out for and it’s the perfect fix for nail enthusiasts or for those who simply want to grow their nail varnish collection.

Whilst there was a big gap namely for a nail subscription box within the UK, I’m really delighted that nailbox have come on board to deliver something which all us nail varnish fans have been crying out for.

The May 2015 nailbox will contain four full size colours from Essie, Nicole by OPI, ORLY & Rimmel. You can subscribe at:
