With holidays and the multitude of festivals coming up it’s that busy social time of the year where we all want to make the most of every opportunity to soak up some sunshine whilst also looking our very best so with this in mind The Capital Best of Summer Beauty box which is Latest In Beauty‘s newest collaboration with Capital FM see’s a jam packed line that showcases well-known brands alongside some exciting, budget-friendly brands with the majority being full sized. The box features a selection of summer must-haves from gorgeous nail varnish and make up, skincare, coloured hair spray and a tinted balm to perfect that glossy lip. With an incredible 10 products on board I’m sure you’ll agree it’s another great curation that contains lots of new and exciting things to try.
1. MUA Mega Volume Mascara – Full Size RRP £3.00
I know I’m not the only one who is a sucker for new mascara! As soon as a new mascara lands on my doorstop, I have to try it! MUA isn’t a brand I’ve tried before but they promise to bring surprising quality, colour, fun and innovation to each and every product and best of all they’re kind to the bank balance too!
The bristles are precisely thin and separated which makes it much easier to reach for those tight corners and works really well in separating the lashes. When applied It adds more volume as opposed to length with a very natural finish ,ideal for days you want to rock out the barely there look.
2 MUA Poptastic Palette – Full Size RRP £4.00
True to it’s name this palette is amazingly vibrant and perfect for summer, it’s so pretty. The palette has a range of bright colours in 12 shimmer finishes and really gives you scope to experiment with so many looks. In terms of quality all of the shades are very well pigmented which really surprised me when you take into account the price of the palette.
If you want to be more daring with your make-up looks or want to stand out from the crowd then this palette is perfect for that and will not fail to get you noticed!
3. Malin + Goetz Trio – Sample Set
Malin + Goetz is an apothecary and lab based in New York and dedicated to producing products with natural ingredients and for sensitive skin.
Malin + Goetz is a brand that I’ve always been curious about, I’ve not tried any of their products so welcomed this trio sampler set which contains their grapefruit cleanser, Vitamin E Face Moisturiser and a lip moisturiser – all of which are listed as being amongst their best sellers.
4. Carmex Moisture Plus Lip Balm in Berry – Full Size RRP £4.49
The Carmex Moisture Plus Ultra Hydrating Lip Balm in Berry with SPF 15 is a sheer tinted lip balm, which contains Vitamin E, Aloe. The formula is pretty much the same as the classic Carmex lip balm and boasts the same benefits such as a super hydrating and glossy formula alongside that soothing feeling.
I love the shade, it really gives the lips a healthy kiss of colour and if you’re looking for the best of both worlds or already a fan of the original Carmex lip balms, you’re going to love this!
5. Nails inc Gel Effect Nail Polish – Full Size. RRP £14.00
I don’t own many blue shades within my nail polish collection but I have to say this one has definitely become my favourite. Mercer Street is a stunning blue creme which really gives off that summer vibe, it’s bright, fun, and perfect for summer!
6. Fudge Urban Hair Art Spray – Full Size 125ml RRP £5.99
One of the aspects I love about beauty boxes is that you get the opportunity to try out something a little different every now and again and it’s been years since I’ve tried a coloured hair spray. The Hair Art Spray by Fudge gives a quick colour fix without the commitment of it being permanent.
Inside the box you can expect to see either the purple or pink spray and being a girly girl I was happy to see the pink spray.
The shade without a doubt is really pretty and reminds me of candy floss but being dark haired these kinds of colours rarely show up. I could see a muted shade of pink but nothing really noticeable unless I built it up however if you’ve got lighter hair it’s a fun way to brighten up your style instantly.
7. Colab Sheer & Invisible Paris Floral Fragrance – Travel Size 50ml. RRP £2.00
On the days where i find my hair just needs a bit of a refresh and a little volume in between washes, Colab is my go-to and saviour when it comes to dry shampoos.
The COLAB dry shampoo definitely has a slight white cast when sprayed but once it’s brushed out, the colour pretty much disappears. What I love about this dry shampoo is that it doesn’t give hair a gritty feeling as it’s virtually weightless and at the same time is still able to absorb excess oil in my hair which means that I can use it for couple days in a row without heavy buildup on my scalp. One of the things that makes COLAB dry shampoos stand out is the scent, there’s so many to chose from you’ll be spoilt for choice!
8. Dr Organic Dead Sea Minerals Bio-Plasma Mud Mask – Full Size 100ml. RRP £7.99
Having received this in a previous box last year I’m no stranger to this mask. What I love about this mask is although it has a thick consistency it’s really easy to maneuver and leaves your skin feeling revitalised and squeaky clean.
Apart from the Dead Sea Minerals, this mask is rich in natural and organic ingredients such as Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, Kaolin and Vitamin C, all of which are known to exert beneficial effects on our skin for a more youthful glow.
If you’ve not tried a mud mask for quite some time and fancy going back to basics this is incredibly purifying for oily skin.
9. Hawaiian Tropic Satin Protection Ultra Radiance Sun Lotion – Full Size. RRP £5.49
I burn very quickly so with holiday season in full swing soon this necessity will definitely come in handy.
The Hawaiian Tropic satin protection sun lotion SFP30 contains advanced UVA & UVB protection which is oil free, non-greasy and formulated with vitamins C & E and tropical fragrances that provides the skin a glowing effect whilst protecting it when tanning and benefits from being water resistant too.
This sun tan lotion smells just like paradise with a cocktail of coconut and Jojoba oil. It’s a definite must-have now that the weather has finally realised it’s summer!
10. I Love… Perfectly Peachy Bath & Shower Creme – Sample Sachet
I Love is brand I’ve recently discovered and I must say, I’ve been really impressed with what I’ve tried so far. Their products smell amazing and the great thing about them is that they are soap-free, paraben-free and pH balanced!
The brand has partnered with the charity Coppa Feel to bring the Perfectly Peachy shower gel and inside there’s a sample sachet alongside a postcard containing information on the signs and symptoms of breast cancer. As with the other I Love products I’ve tried this did not dissapoint, it smells utterly delicious and really injects a bit of summer into the shower.
With this being the second in the series from Capital FM and Latest in Beauty, The Best of Summer edition definitely wins by far for me. The line up contains the perfect mix to get seasonal and on-trend updates to your beauty collection as well as an opportunity to try out some new discoveries from both well-known brands as well some exciting budget friendly brands which I’ve been wanting to try. Now, I’m not a festival goer by no means but the box has everything you might want to achieve a fun look whilst meeting your practical needs too making it ideal for those who have summer holidays coming up.
Individually, the products would cost over £60.00, but you can get your hands on the whole lot for just £17.95 making it super-affordable and exceptional value for money.
If you need to get yourself sorted for holidays, festivals or just want to put some fun into your summer beauty regime this box will have you covered.
