1.   Kebelo Clarifying Shampoo – Travel Size 50ml. Full Size 250ml RRP £13.95

The Kebelo Clarifying Shampoo delicately strips the build up of chemicals from products, daily environmental factors and chlorine from swimming without leaving your hair dry or brittle and basically acts as a detox for the hair.  This product can be used as little as once a month to help  restore your hair to its clean, smooth and shiny state.

I’ve never really thought about using clarifying shampoo, I should really as I’m always overloading my hair with all sorts of products so thanks to Birchbox I now have ample opportunity to put one to the test.

2.   Rituals Ayurveda Scrub Travel Size 70ml. Full Size 150ml £10.00

Given my unmitigated love for Rituals, I was delighted to see a generous sized scrub from their Ayurveda range, their products really do make everyday routines into something so much more indulgent and luxe.

Out of the three available variants this month I received the Ayurveda Scrub enriched with the sweet fragrance of Indian Rose and contains mineral-rich Multani Clay.

This body scrub doesn’t compare to any that I’ve tried before as it is clay based and also doubles up as a body mask too. The scrub contains very fine grains and alongside the clay it’s effective at smoothing as well as thoroughly cleansing and purifying the skin. As with all Ritual products, this smells amazing, it’s sweet and fresh at the same time. This also contains a twist of menthol so it leaves the skin feeling cool and tingly making it a good pick for the summer.

3.   Lord & Berry Blush in Lotus – Sample Size. Full Size RRP £17.00

Lotus is a beautiful, delicate warm rose with a matte finish and the perfect shade for me, it’s so natural looking and just plain pretty.

The only downside is that the refill is on the small side and therefore doesn’t sweep easily onto the brush but nonetheless it’s one of those blushers that you’ll find your reaching for again and again, due to its versatility.

4.   Huygens Exfoliating Cream – Sample Size 10ml. Full Size RRP £17.90

Huygens is a  luxurious brand that hails from France and I think Birchbox are the only stockists in the UK so it was great to see this inside the box.

This delicious face exfoliating cream from Huygens is made from 99% natural ingredients and smells quite citrusy. Due to it’s skin-friendly formula it’s perfect for all skin types. The rice powder particles work to purify and lift away dead skin cells without irritation, while the creamy formula leaves skin feeling clean, soft and hydrated.

5.   the Balm Desert Bronzer – Sample Size. Full Size RRP £15.00

I’m a sucker for cute packaging and I love these types of samples from the Balm. This bronzer is the perfect fix to fake that summer glow and is specially formulated to be long wearing and fade resistant making it ideal for the long summer days. The best thing about this bronzer is that the shade makes your skin look perfectly sun kissed without the tacky orangeness.

6.   Extra Beauty Bonus – Illamasqua Hydra Veil – Sample Size 10ml. Full Size RRP £32.00

The Illamasqua Hydra Veil has always interested me but without trying it first I was a little reluctant to part with my £32.00 so I was overjoyed (jumps up and down) to see a sample of this tucked inside the box.

This product sits between a primer and a skin care product, and whilst there’s no long-term benefits in the skincare segment it’s designed to provide a quick fix for dry areas on your face and is applied before foundation to smooth the skin and eradicate any dry areas.

Although I have oily skin, after applying my foundation the area around my chin sometimes looks a little dry despite moisturising and the Illamasqua Hydra Veil really nicely camouflages those areas. The product has a jelly like texture and really does lend a helping hand and foundation simply glides on like a dream. I didn’t notice that my makeup lasted any longer, but it certainly made my skin look healthier and smoother. I think this is a great base for all skin types, but if you happen to have dry skin, you’ll love this.

7.   Lifestyle Bonus – Emoji Stickers

These Exclusive-to-Birchbox emoji stickers make such a cute addition inside this month’s box and can simply jazz up anything from a laptop to a notebook. They’re ever so girly and I love that they’ve included some beauty emoji’s too – very fitting for all us beauty junkies!

My Verdict

Whilst the outside of the box is cute and playful, inside has some serious beauty game with a fabulous assortment of products. In terms of the line-up I think this month’s edition is definitely one of my favourites this year, it covers all areas of beauty, features a good mixture of well-known brands as well as some new discoveries and being a beauty junkie myself I can confirm this definitely hits the spot.

Birchbox as always continue to wow me with their beautiful curations and without fail there’s always something inside that I manage to fall in love with so If you like trying out products from well-known, loved and emerging brands Birchbox is definitely great for this. If you’re on a budget the monthly rotation of treats doesn’t break the bank either and introduces you to brands and products you might not have otherwise found, all of which can be purchased within their online shop.
