August has been a rotten month so far, the weather’s been miserable and last week I ended up with what the medics call a summer cold (I didn’t even know such a thing existed!) and to top it off my unwelcomed visitor also made a show so I definitely needed some cheering up so luckily the Period Box arrived just in time! Whilst I love all my beauty box deliveries, Period Box has very quickly become a necessity for me, not because of the practicality itself but the actual thoughtfulness behind the concept which is to pamper their customers with a variety of chic and premium treats when they need it the most. The *August Period Box has had a little make over inside, I love the custom designed tissue paper it really gives the box more of a signature feel. This months line up features a mix of beauty and lifestyle treats with the majority being new discoveries for me.

Period Box is a premium UK monthly subscription service that bundles your choice of tampons and pads with hand-picked goodies and exquisite treats to cheer you up when you most need it. With every box you will receive a selection of premium teas, chocolates from artisan manufacturers, high-end beauty samples and an unique design gift or a beautiful art print by their featured artist of the month. Period Box literally takes care of everything and will ship your package five days before your period is due and no matter what your preferences are your box is completely bespoke to meet your needs both day and night.

Inside the box you can expect to see all your treats individually wrapped which is something I love, it really gives the feel of opening presents. As well as the monthly essentials the box also included five additional items to enjoy and indulge in making that time of the month much more bearable.

1. Period Essentials (2-3 days cycle)

As always I go for the short flow customised package which is for a 2-3 days cycle that consists of a mixture of pads suitable for both day and night. Inside the box is 10 pads (mixture of day and night pads) with four liners too. Period Box caters for all types of flows and your preferences can be chosen when you curate your box.

For me personally the box always includes the perfect amount of pads and liners from Always, a brand that I trust and turn to and find them super comfortable, reliable and discreet.

2. Institut Karite So in Love Shea Hand Cream and Body Cream – Deluxe Size 30ml each Worth £10.00

I love discovering brands from different parts of the world  and this month you can expect to see two good sized samples from Institut Karite. According to their website, Institut Karite was the first French brand to exclusively sell shea butter based beauty products.

The rose hand cream smells beautiful and left my hands feeling nice and soft without any greasiness and sinks in pretty quickly too.

Similar to the hand cream, the next item is a body cream which carries the same luxurious rose scent and moisturising benefits.

I love the packaging which looks very fancy and Parisian, and best of all they both smell wonderful so if you’re fan of rose scented products you’ll love this collection.

3. SASS Intimate Perfect Skin Concentrate – Sample Size 10ml

SASS have been featured quite frequently this year inside beauty boxes and are an intimate hygiene brand that provide practical solutions to help you freshen up and care for your skin as and when you need it the most.

The SASS Intimate Perfect Skin Concentrate contains exfoliating Salicyclic Acid and Fruit Enzymes which help to prevent ingrown hairs. The Aloe Vera soothes and hydrates, whilst the Kelisoft helps to minimise hair regrowth. This is such a useful product to have on standby making it the perfect aftercare solution for just-shaved skin.

4. Dr Stuarts Skin Purify Tea – 3 Tea Bag sachets

Whatever your cup of tea, I love that Period Box include a variety of unique tea’s mainly sourced from brands I’ve not heard of before. This month’s box features three tea bag samples from Dr Stuarts.

The Skin Purify Tea gives your skin a treat with a beautifying herbal infusion of red clover, nettle and dandelion – all of which are known for their cleansing properties.

The quest for perfect skin always seems to be a loosing battle for me so I’m looking forward to trying out these tea bags.

5. Prestat Raspberry Dark Chocolate Bar – Full Size 85g RRP £2.49

Period Box really know how to spoil a girl and all subscribers can expect to see a full sized bar of chocolate inside their box each month giving you a real chocolate fix as when you need it the most.

With luxe at the forefront, Prestat have been making chocolates for royalty, nobility and stars of the stage & screen for over 100 years. Using Africa’s finest cocoa beans, this artisan bar will delight anyone who enjoys the finer things in life.

I’m not so much of a fan when it comes to tangy chocolate but this bar really strikes the perfect balance with a sweet raspberry flavour. The chocolate is smooth and rich with crunchy little pieces of raspberry buried throughout.

6. Illustration by Filipz

Every month you can expect to see a unique gift from an art print, stationery to hand crafted jewellery.

This month features another pretty postcard sized print from Filipz who not only is the co-owner of Period Box but a talented artist too. I love the print and the inspirational quote although I would have liked to have seen something different on the lifestyle front but nonetheless it is a lovely addition to this month’s box, I just need to find somewhere to put it!

My Verdict

Period Box always manages to put a smile on my face as well as preparing me for the next few days in the nicest possible way, they really leave no stone unturned and as well as saving me last minute trips to the supermarket they provide a complete survival kit which helps me look and feel human again. The line up mainly features new discoveries for me (yay!) alongside a sample of aftercare from SASS and as always the tea and chocolate always go down a treat but I would have liked to have seen something different in terms of the illustration seeing as though one was featured last month. I think the only thing missing is the heat pack which was featured inside a few of their previous editions so I’d love to see it make a return as it was such a useful aid to have on standby!

With this box it’s not just about the contents you receive but the experience of the unboxing itself, it’s filled with so much love that demonstrates that the founders are very passionate about the subject and really know the way to a girl’s heart!

We all look for comforts and indulgence in the form of sweet offerings and pampering treats to get us through the cycle and this box has something for the first day to even the last day of your period whilst accommodating for all of the uncanny stuff that happens in between!
