Month on month, beauty boxes introduce me to a wide array of new discoveries that I wouldn’t have found otherwise and occasionally If you’re really lucky you might just receive something that you’ve been wanting to try for a while. The Illamasqua Hydra Veil is one of the products that’s been gathering dust on my wishlist so I was delighted to see a sample inside the August Birchbox. With high hopes from the outset this did not disappoint, in fact it turned out to be even better than I had hoped which resulted in me buying the full sized! The Illamasqua Hydra Veil is a hybrid between a primer and a skin care product, and whilst there’s no long-term benefits on the skincare front it’s designed to provide a quick fix solution for dry areas on your face and is applied before foundation to smooth the skin and eradicate any dry areas.
Although I have oily skin, after applying my foundation the area around my chin sometimes looks a little dry despite moisturising and the Illamasqua Hydra Veil really nicely camouflages those areas. The product has a jelly like texture which glides on the skin, sinks in effortlessly and really does lend a helping hand in making your foundation sit and look better. I’ve not noticed that my makeup lasts any longer, but it certainly makes my skin look healthier and smoother. I think this is a great base for all skin types, but if you happen to have dry skin, you’ll love this.
