The perfectly wrapped August 2014 Glossybox has arrived and this month they celebrate their 3rd anniversary in style including a subtle make over of their iconic pink box. I was particularly looking forward to this month’s box as celebratory boxes usually mean a box full of treats and in my opinion I wasn’t wrong!

As well as the revamp of the box and the intricate detail, the product card has also had a make over and now comes in the form of a foldable insert which is more informative and easy on the eye.

This month’s box covers all aspects of beauty and features a great line up of brands including Kryolan, Comfort Zone, Figs & Rouge, Philip Kingsley, Yves Rocher and Lalique.

Glossybox is a  monthly beauty subscription service. The box consists of  4-5 selected hair, make-up , body and nail products from well-known brands and new brands and includes a mixture of full sized and sample products.

This month’s box included 3 full sized products and 3 sample sized products. A total of 6 products this month.

To see the August Glossybox spoiler and the products featured please click here

1.   Philip Kingsley Elasticizer  – Sample Size 40ml. Full Size 250ml RRP £38.00

There’s a guaranteed Elasticizer in every Glossybox this month and a product which I’ve been keen to try for quite a while due to it’s raving reviews.

This pre-shampoo treatment was originally created specifically for the beauty Audrey Hepburn and delivers unrivalled elasticity, manageability, bounce ans shine without weighing down or coating the hair.

I’ve never used a pre-shampoo treatment where the hair needs to be wet before applying. I look forward to trying this out.

2.     Yves Rocher Nail Polish – Full Size 3ml  RRP £3.60

This must be the tiniest nail polish I’ve ever owned at 3ml and it’s a birthday bonus item this month.

The shade is a pretty pink which goes hand in hand with the coordination of their colour theme.

Being a fan of all things pink I welcomed this nail polish and the colour is adorably pretty.

3.     Kryolan Highlighter  – Full Size 4.5g RRP £12.50

I was particularly looking forward to trying out this highlighter by Kryolan who are known for their professional make up line used by make up artists and celebrities.  This was imprinted with the Glossybox logo and came in the shade Cashmere.

The shade Cashmere is sold on Kryolan’s website and is a versatile, lightweight cream with a gloss finish. It gives cheekbones, lips, and other parts of the skin a beautiful velvety shine.

I love the colour which looks really natural and accentuates specific area’s when applied. The shade is really diverse making it suitable for all complexions.

4.   Figs and Rouge Mini Hand Cream –  Sample Size 20ml. Full Size 80ml RRP £6.95

I do love a good hand cream and owning many types I was pleased to see the inclusion of Figs and Rouge which is a brand I’ve not tried before.

I received the hand cream in Mango and Mandarin in a vibrant coloured tube.

The tropical fragrance is uplifting and not too overpowering. You can really pick up the fruity tones of the Mango and Mandarin . This non greasy formula which is rich in texture sinks straight into the skin giving a nourishing feel and is enriched with shea butter, natural antioxidants and algea extract.

Whilst this may be a sample it’s very good sized at 20ml.

5.   Comfort Zone Essentials Cleansing Milk – Full Size 200ml RRP £20.00
This brand is completely new to me and their range appears to fall within spa type products.

The comfort zone brand was conceived and launched in 1996 as the skincare division of The Davines Group, which was founded in Parma, Italy, in 1983 by the Bollati family. What began as a research laboratory for the development of high-quality, highly effective products has grown into an internationally successful professional spa brand with a diverse range of product and treatment offerings.

This is a creamy, revitalizing, cleansing milk for daily use and is suitable for all skin conditions.

It removes make-up and impurities, respecting the skin’s balance and bringing back the complexion’s natural brightness.
It’s gentle formula feels very refreshing on the skin and applies onto the skin like a dream. I’m not a fan of overpowering fragranced facial products and was delighted that this had a delicate and subtle scent. Most importantly this cleanser is suitable for all skin conditions which is great for all subscribers who receive this.

This product is definitely the main highlight within this month’s box and comes in an amazing size of 200ml.

6.  L’amour Lalique Perfume Vial – Sample Size. Full Size 50ml RRP £67.00
I love discovering new scents and most of the perfumes I have bought recently are thanks to the little samples within the beauty boxes I receive.
I am a fan of floral scents and this is a soft sensual fragrance which has delicate notes of rosebuds laced with fresh bergamot. I love the subtle scent of this perfume making it perfect for wearing during the day.
 My Verdict

I’m impressed with the celebratory Glossybox this month. It covers all aspects of beauty and most importantly all of the products are very usable. I’ve made some great discoveries this month which has given me the opportunity to try out some new brands which were not familiar to me.

This month see’s a change in the design of their box which is now more square and chic in appearance. The texture is now matte instead of the usual glossy box. I much prefer this re-design and I love the intricate detail from their wrapping to their 3rd anniversary sticker!

This month’s box included 3 full sized products and 3 sample sized products totaling 6 products. The contents within this month’s box is worth £36.10 and all subscribers will receive a minimum value of £33.00.

Glossybox do include some full sized products which bumps up the value of the box so it’s a great price to pay to discover and trial products from well known and new brands.  I will be making use of all of the products featured in this month’s box.

A good effort by Glossybox this month from the intricate detail of the box to the contents enclosed.

I do love coming home to Glossybox for the surprise aspect it’s like having a birthday present to unwrap every month!

Price of the Box is £14.95 including P&P
No. of Products in the Box – 5
Total value of contents in the box £37.80
www.sosusan.com

The August So Susan LacquerLove monthly subscription box has arrived and this month’s theme is Festival Chic incorporating the festival season which comes to life this time of the year. Come rain or shine rock your nails in style with this month’s LacquerLove Box.

So Susan is a brand which is known to have the prettiest quirky packaging and definitely a brand which stands out. Their collection of products ranges from make-up to nail varnish combining their lovely portfolio of colours with science. Their philosophy is to create colours which last and is kind to your skin.

This box includes 5 full sized items four of which are 4- free nail varnishes and one bonus make up product each month from Jelly Pong Pong with So Susan being the sister company. Their monthly edits include lacquer shades especially selected to compliment their theme for the month.

This pastel coloured and elegantly designed box is very So Susan designed and comes in the form of a gift box which is secured by a magnetic fastener.

Inside the box was four 4-free nail lacquers and a bonus Jelly Pong-pong Blusher & Contour Palette from the Dainty Doll range.

1. So Susan 4-Free Nail Lacquers – Full Size. RRP £6.95 each

The So Susan nail lacquers are highly pigmented and are formulated to be chip-free and to remain intense with shine from the first application. The formula has quick drying time and is enriched with Rosehip fruit oil to moisturise and strengthen your nails and the delicate skin around it.

These nail lacquers they are 4-free which means they contain no DBP (Dibutyl Phthalate), no Toluene, no Formaldehyde and no Formaldehyde resin. A nail varnish which contains no nasties making it the ideal product which is kind to you.

This month’s box  included the shades Bangles, Strawberry, Rock & Roll and Orange Glow (Full sized retailed at £6.95 individually).

These nail lacquers have a wonderful formula and the colour payoff is pretty good. The most impressive factor is the shine which these lacquers give without the need for a top coat and one coat is all it takes to show it’s true colour.

I love that this month’s box featured a range of different finishes which included vibrant, glitter and metallic.

2. Dainty Doll Blusher & Contour Palette by Nicola Roberts – Full Size RRP £10.00

In 2008 Nicola Roberts, of Girls Aloud joined forces with brand Jelly Pong Pong to create Dainty Doll, a makeup collection for pale faced beauties . The concept was to embrace porcelain skin by delicately accentuating your features instead of overpowering them with harsh colours and formulas.

This dual compact is a blush and contour in the shade Blossom which comes in peach and a slight brown shade. The peach blush is delicate and quite subtle and ideal for paler complexions.

It appears that this product along with the Dainty Doll brand has now discontinued and there’s a handful of items available on ebay!

My Verdict

Overall this is an unique subscription box  which concentrates only on nails and is the first of it’s kind in the UK subscription market. I love So Susan’s concept of this monthly box it’s certainly one which will ensure you have the latest colour trends in your collection. I also like the fact that you receive a bonus make up product too making the discovery not just nails. Alternatively this would also make a lovely gift.

This box is worth £37.80 which is great value for money as the box itself is only £14.95 including P&P. You certainly won’t be in the dark with this box as you will be able to preview the box and all it’s contents prior to it being sent to you however if you don’t fancy the pickings you can simply skip the month giving you complete control and flexibility.

There’s a colour to suit every occasion in this box making it the ultimate box for all you nail varnish enthusiasts and fans.

Love Me Beauty Box Review – August 2014

image

IMG_9845[1]

image

image
Price of the Box is £10.00 Plus £2.95 P&P
Menu 1
No. of Products in the Box – 4
Total value of contents in the box £64.94
www.lovemebeauty.com

The August Love Me Beauty Box perfectly wrapped in pink has finally arrived and this month it’s themed on all things make-up and very similar to last month’s pickings. I feel that this month’s box is lacking in substance and only includes 4 products. There is no lifestyle extra this month which would of possibly filled the void. On a positive note all of the products are full-sized and the box itself has an incredible value. I think we got a teeny bit spoilt last month!

The line up this month was mainly all things make-up featuring the brands  MirabellaA La Carte Cosmetics, Marsk and Oriflame

“Love Me Beauty” is a Beauty subscription service like the other boxes however you get to choose the products you want from a choice of 3 menu’s each month. Each menu has a slightly different set of  items to complement the diverse needs of their subscribers.

This month I opted for Menu 1. To see what was available this month please click here.

My box included 4 full sized products.

1.    Marsk Mineral Eye Shadow  – Full Size RRP £14.49

This mineral eye shadow is 100% natural and cruelty free and came in the shade “You’re Toast” which is a subtle metallic light brown colour with shimmery gold particles.

The eye shadow is highly pigmented and applies smoothly with a satin like finish. The overall result can be worked upon to create the desired depth and intensity. This can also be used wet or dry.

I love the colour which can be used to achieve both a day and evening look.

2.    A La Carte Smudge Proof Eyebrow Definer  –  Full Size RRP £23.00

When the August menu was released I was baffled as to why there was only one shade available in all three of their menu’s which came in the form of Blonde.

The shade itself is medium brown and not blonde at all which in itself is quite deceiving. The skinny tip pen has great precision for filling in your eyebrows and it’s staying power is pretty impressive.

Really disappointed that this shade didn’t match my eyebrows as this really does deliver as a brow product.

3.    Oriflame Ecollagen Wrinkle Correcting Eye Cream – Full Size RRP £16.95

This roller ball eye cream was the decider for me in choosing Menu 1 and it claims to be a powerful, lightweight cream and the first to be enriched plant stem cell extracts to aid stimulation collagen production and re-plump wrinkles from within.

Whilst I don’t have any wrinkles this also addresses dark circles and puffiness which are my main concerns. I tend to have a lot of late nights and early starts so hope this helps in making me look more awake in the morning alongside my daily dose of caffeine!

4.   Mirabella Lip Luster Liner – Full Size RRP £10.50

I recently got introduced to Mirabella in a previous beauty box I received and was happy to see them make a debut in this month’s Love Me Beauty Box.

I received the shade “Bashful” which is a pretty light pink with a slight plum hue. This glides on smoothly and I applied this to the whole area of my lips instead of using as a liner. The aloe vera properties gives a moisturising base and with a little bit of lip balm gives you the perfect finish.

My Verdict

This month’s box featured all things make-up and very similar to last month’s pickings. I feel that  the box is lacking in substance and only included 4 products this month. There is also no lifestyle extra this month which would of possibly filled the void.

On a positive note all of the products are full-sized and the box itself has an incredible value of £64.94.

The line up this month featured the brands MirabellaA La Carte Cosmetics, Marsk and Oriflame

Overall I’m pretty pleased with the contents with the exception of the brow definer.

I am hoping that Love Me Beauty have got their mojo back as they are definitely back on the right track. I hope they sustain this quality and variety within their boxes each month.

Memebox Global #13 Review – August 2014

image

Memebox Global #13
Price of the Box is $29.99 including shipping approx £18.29
No of Products in the Box – 7 items
Total value of contents in the box – £114.00
http://us.memebox.com/memebox-global

The Memebox Global #13 has safely made it all the way from Korea and it’s the first time I’ve been introduced to the Global Box which comes presented in the usual pink box.

The Global box is the original Memebox and they release a new version every month or so. Again this box like the others is a complete surprise so you won’t have a clue as to what you may receive. Memebox is a rapidly-growing, leading e-commerce beauty retailer born in Seoul, currently headquartered in San Francisco, California and provide Korean Beauty Boxes.

They offer a huge range of different themed beauty boxes which caters for everyone’s needs and likes and the good news is they ship to the UK and other parts of the world for only $6.99. These are not monthly subscription boxes and are available to buy as one off’s. They sell out very quickly so you do need to be supersonic however if you are already a Memebox customer an email gets sent to you to let you know as and when new boxes are released.

Upon visual inspection there appears to be some normality within the box with the inclusion of a few peculiar products too!

This box included 5 full sized products and 2 sample sized items. The line-up included hair, skincare and personal care products

1. 23 Years old CX Detoxifying Air Therapy Mask – Full Size RRP £30.00

I didn’t know what to expect when I opened the packaging and initially assumed there was a tube of cream within. Once opened out pops a syringe and a scary cloth face mask! Felt very surgical to say the least and all that was missing was the white coat!

The mask formula is made from carbonated water and creates sparkling bubbles on your face massaging the skin whilst wearing the cloth mask. The bubbles penetrate deep into the skin and cleanses away impurities clogging up the pores. The result claims to brighten and firm up your skin.

As per the instructions the mask need to left on for around 20-30 minutes. I will definitely give this a go over the weekend to treat my skin and experience my first bubble popping mask.

This mask retails for $50.00 which is incredibly expensive for one application.

2. Donga Tempo Eco Natural Super Tampons- Full Size Pack RRP £6.71

Memebox what was you thinking when you decided to include tampons within this box? Not an item I would expect to see in any beauty box.

This brand dates back to the 1970’S and was the first Korean brand to produce tampons.

I’m not going to go into too much detail but personally I was disappointed to see these inside the box.

3. CNP Cosmetics Derma-Scalp Shampoo – Sample Size 25g

The CNP Derma-Scalp Shampoo deep cleanses your scalp to unclog pores, remove excess impurities and includes extracts of tea tree oil giving your scalp a cool and refreshed feeling.

This menthol fragranced formula needs to be left on for 4 minutes for it to be effective. It’s great for those who have dandruff concerns and generally a troublesome and sensitive scalp.

4. Yufit Eon Wheat-Germ Cream 75 – Full Size 75ml RRP £29.00

This cream has over 75% of organic wheat bud extracts which work to hydrate, firm, brighten and fight signs of aging. This all in one formula helps to tighten pores for an overall healthier and younger looking complexion. The gentleness of this product can also be used on the most troublesome skin.

The texture of this moisturiser is really rich and actually smells quite nice. I think I will probably use this during the colder months as the effects of winter can wreak havoc on your skin and this is ideal for an intensive surge of moisture.

5. SOY Bio Plus Fermented Lumpoule x2 – Full Size 5ml RRP £7.58 each.

This is known to me as a facial ampoule and contains real Korean fermented soy bean lump and combining the two words brings you the Lumpoule!

This claims to prevent the formation of fines lines and wrinkles and brightens the complexion. You simply pat 2-3 drops of the ampoule on your face and pat in for full absorbance.

A pack of 14 retails for around £106 and there’s two offerings within this box which is great to really get a feel of the product.

6. Nuganic Customize Pure Snail Colour Control Cream- Full Size 40ml RRP £32.93

The first thing which horrified me about this CC cream was the fact it contains extracts of snail mucas. I hate all things snails and wasn’t entirely sure how I felt about this let alone applying it!

Having researched further snail slime as the Americans refer to it is claimed to be a miracle face fixer. The mucas contains a cocktail of proteins, antioxidants and hyaluronic acid which removes dead cells, reduces inflammation and helps skin retain moisture and is also effective in treating acne and scarring.

This promises to cover up major imperfections leaving your skin glowing with a natural shine. The cream also contains aloe vera leaf, lemon and various other plant extracts. The high content of SPF also protects your skin from the sun.

Despite my concerns I took the plunge and applied a little onto my face. The formula itself is quite pasty looking and you do need to apply this sparsely as it’s quite thick. After a while this does absorb into your skin and the whiteness does disappear.

This does leave you with a flawless finish however I’m not a fan of SPF in facial products as it tends to give me breakouts. I did however like the pump dispenser which is quite unusual for a tube packaged product.

7. CNP Cosmetics Tone up Protection Sun block – Sample Size 15ml

This high SPF sunblock for the face and body contains powdery components to keep your skin soft and prevents dehydration in the summer and can also be used as an make-up base.

What appears to be a face block seems to be more of a CC cream and I much prefer it to the Snail version. The shade is perfect for my skin type but again it contains SPF which makes me sad. This also has a hint of rose in the scent which is really subtle.

My Verdict

Another well curated Memebox and I’m impressed with everything from their packaging to the contents in the box with the exception of the tampons!  A box full of weird and wonderful products and featured a great line up of different brands to try out.

The box included 5 full sized products which appear to be on the higher end scale of the Korean beauty market.

The box itself came well packaged in a robust padded envelope and I can confirm that no custom charges were incurred.

What makes Memebox very different is the variety and choice of beauty boxes which they offer their customers as a one off purchase. They release a huge amount of boxes throughout the year and will simply leave you spoilt for choice. They don’t release any spoilers prior to shipping so it’s a complete surprise when you receive it.

The information about the products and how to apply them is in English on a card enclosed inside of the box so you won’t be lost in translation.

Memebox enables me to discover Korean beauty products which are not available here in the UK which make’s the reviewing process more interesting.

The contents within this box is worth an incredible £114.00 and the cost of the box including shipping works out to be around £18.29. It’s a small price to pay to discover these hidden gems. No silly little samples in this box!

Having reviewed a few Memeboxes, I can’t recommend them enough and to date I have not been disappointed.

This box has unfortunately sold out but there’s plenty of other fab Memeboxes to discover.

Total value of contents in the box –  £27.70
http://www.lovelulabeautybox.com

The August 2014 Love Lula Beauty Box has arrived and this month it contains an incredible 3 full sized products.

LoveLula brings together an unparalleled selection of the world’s finest natural and organic beauty products. Their brands are hand-picked and tested: products are created using only the highest grades of ethically sourced natural and organic ingredients and must be effective, luxurious and guilt-free.

They insist on NO parabens, NO SLS’s and NO animal testing. Beyond this they seek out the most innovative companies and strive to support morally run and environmentally driven businesses. Love Lula also have a online shop which has a huge selection of the world’s finest natural and organic beauty products.

This month’s box included 3 full sized products and 2 sample sachets. The box features Tan Organic, Eco Tools, John Masters Organics and Sophyto.

1.    Tan Organic Self Tanning Oil –  Full Size 100ml RRP £19.99

I was recently introduced to this brand in a previous beauty box and received the Tan Organic dry oil which works hand in hand with this self tanning oil. I was delighted to get my hands on this.

TanOrganic’s Aloe Vera based formula contains no synthetic ingredients, parabens, colours or fragrances and is fully Ecocertified. The ultra moisturising formula in TanOrganic develops with no unpleasant aroma and is perfect for all skin types, even those with sensitive skin.

I’ve got no summer escapes planned this year and judging by the weather I can’t see the sun coming out anytime soon so this self tanning oil will come in useful to get the perfect summer glow come rain or shine.

2.   John Masters Organics Lavender & Avocado Intensive Conditioner –  Sample Sachet. Full Size 207ml RRP £22.00

There’s no getting away from John Masters Organics who has appeared frequently in my array of beauty boxes. Being a fan of this brand I always relish trying out their luxury organic products.

This intensive conditioner is infused with Lavender and avocado oil combined with over 10 certified-organic plant extracts and oils to bring intense moisture and vitality to dry hair. Hair is left shiny, soft and luxurious and is perfect for dry, damaged hair.

I look forward to giving my hair a pampered treat this weekend.

3.  EcoTools Eye Shadow Brush – Full Size RRP £3.72

Created by actress Alicia Silverstone, EcoTools provides environmentally friendly makeup brushes, applicators, makeup cases and other products that are earth-friendly, cruelty-free and budget friendly.

Within this pretty pouch is an eye shadow brush with an eco-friendly bamboo handle and recycled aluminium ferrules.

The brush itself is soft to the touch and picks up eye shadow pigments perfectly. The bristles are tightly combined to give you complete precision when applying.

I really like the quality of this brush and most of all its great value for money and completely cruelty free.

4. Hurraw Green Tree Lip Balm – Full Size 4.3g. RRP £3.99

Born in the USA, Hurraw Balm started out of pure intent; a personal obsession to create the perfect balm which all natural, vegan, made from premium raw, organic and fair trade ingredients, complete with a bunch of natural and fun flavor options

I received the Green Tea Lip Balm which contains organic Canadian grown cold pressed Hemp oil.

My lip balm collection is slowly developing into a small mountain however it’s always nice to try another brand which isn’t so readily available or known of in the UK.

5. SoPhyto Total Protection Serum – Sample Sachet. Full Size 30ml RRP £32.00

SOPHYTO known for being anti-ageing experts, base their products on the advanced science of phytotherapy. This holistic approach to skincare harnesses the healing power of botanicals and other powerful bioactive ingredients to naturally nourish and restore skin’s youthful glow.

This serum offers concentrated antioxidant replenishment to brighten the skin and leaves the complexion looking smooth, youthful and radiant.

Having oily/combination skin leaves you feeling a bit left out sometimes and unfortunately this isn’t a serum suited to my skin type and therefore will not be giving this a go.

My Verdict

This month’s line up has featured some wonderful goodies  from cruelty free brands which have no nasties in them.

The box included 3 full sized products and 2 sample sachets. The box featured Tan Organic, Eco Tools, John Masters Organics and Sophyto.

My only flaw with this month’s box is the Self Tanning Oil by Tan Organic which every subscriber would of received. Whilst I am a big fan of self tanning products and greatly appreciated receiving this what about those who don’t use tanning products? Being a full sized product and in my opinion the main highlight within the box I don’t think this product spells out diversity to their subscribers.

This is in the same price range as the other beauty  boxes and you are getting a completely different experience compared to the others boxes in relation to the products. Love Lula really do curate good quality boxes.

Love Lula also gave a 20% off promotional code to use on their website on any of the brands which were featured in this month’s box which is valid throughout August which is a nice bonus.

This month’s box was worth £27.70 beating the cost of the box.

If you love organic, natural and cruelty free products this is definitely the box for you. I have discovered some wonderful brands thanks to Love Lula.

Total Value of contents in the box – over £70.00
www.latestinbeauty.com

Latest in Beauty are really spoiling us beauty enthusiasts again and this month they have teamed up with beauty guru’s Jo Fairly and Sarah Stacey of The Beauty Bible to bring you the products they’ve tested, love and swear by. This box is has been specially curated and is bursting with gorgeous natural and exquisite goodies. Say hello to the The Beauty Bible Loves Box

Latest in Beauty, known for their exceptional collection of themed beauty boxes offer something for everyone’s likes and needs. These are one off purchases and no subscription is required. There’s no hidden surprises and you are fully informed as to what’s included inside the box. Once you’ve had a taster of these beauty boxes you will soon be eagerly awaiting for the next box to be released.

This box features a great line up of natural and organic brands and covers all aspects of beauty.

1.    Dr Organic Dead Sea Mineral Bio-Plasma Mud Mask –  Full Size 100ml RRP £7.99

Dead Sea Minerals are commonly used in cosmetics to create and promote healthy skin regeneration, elasticity and permeability of the skin and therefore can be very effective in treating skin wrinkles and other problems caused by the aging process. Thanks to the high content of sulphur, they can be very useful in cleansing and removing impurities from the skin.

This mask has a great thick consistency and applies really well. I left this on for around 10 minutes and once removed left my skin revitalised and squeaky clean. It’s also kind to your skin using only bioactive, natural and organic ingredients.

This is a full sized product and will last a good few applications.

2.   Crabtree & Evelyn Verbena and Lavender Ultra Moisturising Hand Cream  –  Full Size 25g RRP £5.00

I do love a good nourishing hand cream and was happy to see this inside the box as this brand certainly delivers.

Crabtree and Evelyn make the most indulgent hand creams which are rich, moisturising and smell absolutely divine.

You can pick up the uplifting zesty notes straight away with a subtle hint of Lavender. This non greasy formula sinks straight into the skin giving you soft, silky hands.

It comes in a handy travel sized tube which is great for keeping in your handbag.

3.   Rituals Miracle Scrub Ginseng and Ginkgo Biloba Ultra Softening Hand Scrub  – Full Size 75ml RRP £11.50

Our hands are one of the most exposed areas of our body which we constantly use and it’s probably the one area you wouldn’t even consider exfoliating.

The Rituals Miracle Scrub is enriched with nourishing oils that are easily absorbed by the skin to restore suppleness and moisture balance.

This creamy scrub is quite gritty but isn’t abrasive on your skin and you can really feel the oils working into your skin.  The scent of this scrub is just amazing and once washed off feels like you’ve had a luxurious hand treatment at the Spa. A lovely pampering treat for the hands in the comfort of your own home.

4.    Bellapierre Volumizing Mascara in Black  – Full Size 9ml RRP £19.99

Mascara is a firm favourite of mine and a staple in my make-up bag. it plays a vital role in achieving my everyday make up look.

Bellapierre’s Volumizing Mascara is packaged in a slim rectangular tube embossed with the Bellapierre initials on the lid which makes it feel like a high-end product.  This is the first eye make-up item I have tried from a natural, mineral based brand and they appear to be quite famous for their loose powders and mineral eyeshadows.

The wand is the ideal size and coats each lash individually. The formula is paraben-free, and mineral based. The black intensity of the formula is really good however I found this mascara to be of a thin consistency making the overall result quite subtle. It’s perfect for those looking for a more natural mascara.

5.    Essential Care Creamy Coconut Cleanser  – Full Size 30ml RRP £7.00

This coconut cleanser has a synergistic blend of dynamic plant oils to lift away make-up, skin impurities and airborne dirt and includes ingredients such as coconut, olive oil and essential oils that have excellent cleansing properties.  Ideal for normal to dry or mature skin, the cleanser can be removed with damp cotton pads or rinsed away leaving the skin thoroughly clean, smooth and refreshed.

I assumed that this would of been heavily scented with coconut but it’s not at all. It’s pleasantly fragranced which isn’t overpowering.

I’ve not tried this on my face as my skin’s recovering from a breakout instead I used this as a make up remover on my eyes to remove the Bellapierre Mascara which I reviewed earlier. I simply put a little of the cleanser on a cotton wool pad and applied to the lashes. This worked incredibly well and removed all traces of the mascara probably better then some eye make-up removers I have used!

For an all round cleansing regime this would be perfectly suited for normal and dry skin types.

6. John Masters Organics Shampoo and Conditioner –  Sample Sizes 30ml each. Full Size 237ml RRP £16.00

The John Masters Organics Lavender Rosemary Shampoo combines organic essential oils with organic herbal extracts to gently cleanse and keep’s hair in perfect balance. This is gentle enough to use as an everyday shampoo and smells great too. This shampoo has also been voted best haircare product in the ethical living awards in 2010.

I also received a detangler sample in citrus and neroli which is lightweight and can be used as an leave in conditioner. During the summer my hair tends to get very dry not to mention the damage of the heat styling tools i use on a daily basis! This should give my hair the extra TLC it needs.

If you want to try this brand they do a a great little sampler set for around £9.99 which includes the Lavender Rosemary Shampoo, the Citrus & Neroli Detangler, the Blood Orange & Vanilla Body Wash and the Blood Orange and Vanilla Body Milk.

7. PitRok Crystal Deodorant Wipes – 20 Wipes RRP £2.49

My perception of deodorant wipes is that their merely quick fixes and barely ever last compared to a spray or roll-on from past experiences. Things have obviously moved on from then…Hello PitRok!

The PitRok Deodorant wipes contain pure natural mineral salts that are kind to your skin and provide instant refreshment and protection. Formulated with extracts of  Aloe Vera and Grapefruit seed leaving your skin feeling fresh and revitalised.

These are quite moist and are pleasantly scented. Surprisingly they are really refreshing when applied and great for the warmer weather when you need a top up. I’ve not needed to use another wipe and it’s been a good few hours since I applied.

Being slightly dubious about these initially, I love that these keep you fresh and take care of your skin at the same time. This handy pack which contains 20 wipes can easily be popped into your bag.

8. Merumaya Melting Cleansing Balm – Sachet Sample 2ml

Maleka Dattu, founder of  Merumaya has created an evolutionary range of evidence based skincare designed to help prevent, while reducing existing signs of skin ageing; similar in concept only, to Integrative Health.

The signature double cleanse method removes make up and grime first and on the second use cleans your skin.

The 2ml sachet sample will give you a couple of applications for a taster. Will definitely give this a go once my skin has improved.

My Verdict

Latest in Beauty have delivered another fantastic box teaming up with beauty guru’s Jo Fairly and Sarah Stacey of The Beauty Bible to bring you the products they’ve tested, love and swear by. This box is has been specially curated and is bursting with gorgeous natural and exquisite goodies.

I’ve made some fabulous discoveries which have been featured inside this box and the line up included a great selection of natural and organic products covering all aspects of beauty which are kind to the skin.

The contents within this box is worth around £70.00. This is great value for money at only £19.95 plus p&p. I also liked that Latest in Beauty  included additional discounts and offers for all of the brands which were featured inside the box.

If you’re not already on the organic and natural beauty products scene then this box is a great starting point and will certainly provide you with peace of mind and assurance that you’re not coating your skin with chemicals.

A great example of a beauty box in every shape and form and for the price it’s an amazing way to discover good quality branded products without the heavy price tag.

Once you’ve had a taster of these beauty boxes you will soon be eagerly awaiting for the next box to be released.

Price of the Box is £6.95 including P&P
No of Products in the Box – 6 items
Total value of contents in the box £12.20
www.youbeautydiscovery.co.uk

The August 2014 You Beauty Discovery Box has arrived and the theme this month is Summer Essentials and mainly focuses on skincare and protecting yourself in the Sun.

“You Beauty Discovery” is a monthly beauty subscription service. The box consists of 2 selected hair, make-up and beauty products from well-known and new brands and they also include 2-3 bonus samples. Unlike the other subscription boxes you get to choose two products of your choice from a diverse selection menu each month.

I wasn’t overly excited about this month’s selection menu compared to the previous months mainly because a lot of the items just wasn’t suitable for my skin type, instead I went for the safer option and chose both of the nail varnishes.  You really can’t fault this beauty box as it’s incredibly good value for money. The most popular items such as the Gazzeli duo and the hair masque all sold out within 24 hours. You have to super quick with this selection menu as the popular items are always sold out by the morning.

This month’s box included 2 full sized products of my choice, 2 Jimmy Choo perfume samples1 skincare sample and a You beauty discovery 4-way nail buffer.

To see August’s selection menu please click here

1. Peggy Sage Nail Varnishes from the Nude and Summer Collection – Full Size 100ml RRP £6.10 each

A girl can never have too many nail varnishes in fact I don’t think I have enough! That’s my excuse when I get moaned at for having too many.

These nail varnishes really stood out for me mainly because it’s a brand I haven’t been introduced to and when researched there’s only a handful of stockists in the UK who sell these.

Peggy Sage provide’s elevating nail care to a whole new creative process and is based in Llandudno and their collection has a wide range of pretty shades and textured nail varnishes.

I received Sunny Sweetie from their Summer collection which is a vibrant pink shade and Nude Poudre from their nude collection which is a lovely light mocha shade.

The formula of these nail varnishes apply like a dream and one coat is enough for a non sheer colour. The drying time is relatively quick and promises to last for up to 6 days depending on the colour – average hold is 4 days. It also claims to retain its shine for up to 4 days.

I’m really tempted to try their textured range and You Beauty Discovery have included a generous 20% off discount code to redeem against any of the Peggy Sage nail varnishes.

For more information on the Peggy Sage range please click here

2. You Beauty Discovery 4-Way Nail Buffer.

This month see’s the inclusion of a 4-way nail buffer as a bonus treat which is great for when you’re on the go and is the ideal size to fit into your handbag.

3. Jimmy Choo Perfume Vial for Men and Women and FaceD 3-Luronics Face Cream Serum Sample

You Beauty Discovery have been quite generous this month with their extra samples including two perfume samples and a face serum sachet.

My Verdict

Once again I am happy with my You Beauty Discovery selections this month and whilst August’s selection menu wasn’t as exciting as previous months  you really can’t fault this beauty box as it’s incredibly good value for money and gives you the opportunity to try products without the hefty price tag. The most popular items such as the Gazzeli duo and the hair masque all sold out within 24 hours. You have to super quick with this selection menu as the popular items always sell out by the morning.

My box this month’s contained 2 full sized products (chosen by me) and 4 extra samples.

The contents within my box is worth £12.20  which is more than the price of the box itself. This month doesn’t see that much of an increased value compared to previous boxes however I’ve discovered Peggy Sage who has a wonderful collection of good quality nail varnishes and I will definitely be purchasing a few more.

The magazine contained within the box includes various discount codes for all of the brands which have been featured this month which is great if you want to buy further products.

“You Beauty Discovery” impresses me every month. I always look forward to seeing their menu at the start of the month. Their wide selection of products in their menu has something for everyone and to date I’ve not been disappointed once . This box is a complete steal for £6.95 and worth every penny.

Memebox Superbox #36 Pore Care 3 Box
Price of the Box is $45.99 including shipping approx £28.00
No of Products in the Box – 6 items
Total value of contents in the box – £96.50
http://us.memebox.com/memebox-global

The Memebox Superbox #36 Pore Care 3 Box has safely made it all the way from Korea and came in its usual pretty pink box. I decided to treat myself to this much needed box as my skin is in turmoil at the moment and I’m not too sure whether it’s the warm weather or a hormone imbalance which is causing my breakouts.

This box was calling out to me mainly because it addresses my skin concerns and promises to combat all skin and pore concerns to face the summer with XXS sized pores! This curated box could of easily been made just for me!

This box contains 6 full sized products and consisted of mainly skincare products for oily/combination skin.

1.    The Skin House Pore Control Powder Serum – Full Size 50ml RRP £17.00

This Pore Control Powder Serum controls sebum, and provides moisture closely to the wide and loosed pores of skin with a clean and light texture. It makes the skin texture moist, and can be used on oily and troubled skin. First, it removes the old keratin on the pores and the skin surface to elaborate a smooth skin, and then it removes sebum and the waste matters without skin stimulation so that you can feel the excellent cleansing effect. After that, by the cooling texture it refreshes your skin and gives an instant shrinking effect.

Could this be magic in a bottle? The serum comes in a glass bottle which has a pump dispenser. This is a fragranced serum which isn’t too overpowering however I  do prefer serums to be scent free. I loved the way this serum felt refreshing on the skin making it feel squeaky clean. I didn’t notice any immediate improvement on my pores on the first couple of applications however I will be using this for a week or so to make a better judgement.

2.   Chamos Acaci Matte Pore Primer – Full Size 30ml RRP £12.00

I do love a good primer and this one definitely stands out from the rest mainly because it contains Salicylic acid which has great spot fighting properties.

This matte pore primer has a 6 effective uses. It covers pores and wrinkles, compensates red skin, suppresses sebum and reinforces the holding power of make up.

I love this multi purpose product, it targets your skin inside and out.

3.   Lailly +36.5 Steam Pore Pack – Full Size 50g RRP £17.00

This is an unique pore pack and has the same principles as a face mask however this formula uses a hot steam effect to open up the pores and deep cleanse the skin.

Upon appearance this does look like a dark clay mask which is what I was expecting. When applied this has the same texture as Vaseline and didn’t feel very nice on the skin. Magically this does have a slight warming effect when on the skin and I left this on for around 20 minutes as per the instructions.

This didn’t dry like a normal mask but instead stayed moist. When I washed this off I was dreading a greasy film to be left on the skin but this certainly wasn’t the case.

Whilst this isn’t your average type of mask I quite liked it.

4.   Tosowoong Deep Pore Cleansing Form  – Full Size 100ml RRP £7.50

The next item in the box is a foaming cleanser. This mild formula works to cleanse away all skin impurities specifically targeting enlarged pores and sensitive, troublesome skin.

You only need a little of this product as it foams up very well. I wasn’t too keen on the perfume like scent of this cleanser.

On a positive note this cleanser left my skin squeaky clean and I will probably use this once a week to keep my skin spot free.

5.   Secret Key Black Out Pore Clean Remover  – Full Size 100ml RRP £23.00

The Pore Clean Remover is enriched with white clay and black charcoal and when these ingredients are combined they deliver grime fighting properties which also work to absorb toxins from the skin, leaving your face looking clearer inside and out.

This product is mainly for the removal of blackheads and claims to moisturise and tighten up the pores at the same time by simply wetting a cotton wool pad with the remover and placing it over your nose or any other area with  for around 10-15 minutes. Once the 15 minutes is up you remove the cotton pad and use a cotton bud to remove any extracted blackheads.

Fortunately for me I don’t suffer with blackheads. I really wanted to try this on someone who has blackheads simply to see if this solution draws out the impurities as it claims to. I was armed with the remover and the cotton wool pad as soon as my husband walked through the door!

As instructed this was left on for 15 minutes and magically when I used the cotton bud you could visibly see the extracted blackheads. Initially I was quite dubious about this but it really does work!

6.   Aqua Beauty Pore Zero Blackhead Remover  – Full Size 50ml RRP £20.00

Lastly within the box is another blackhead remover and comes with a silicone massaging brush to easily remove and extract the blackheads containing an all natural essential oil making your skin brighter and shinier.

You squeeze the bottle and massage the affected area with the innovative applicator for a couple of minutes and then wash off.

Will need another guinea pig to try this on!

My Verdict

Another great themed Memebox and I’m impressed with everything from their packaging to the contents in the box. This box contained 6 full-sized products specifically selected to target spot prone skin and features a variety of different brands and products to try.

Since trying these products I have not had any further breakouts which is a sigh of relief and gives me the confidence to carry on using these.

The box came well packaged in a robust padded envelope and I can confirm that no custom charges were incurred.

The information about the products and how to apply them is in English on a card enclosed inside of the box so you certainly wont be lost in translation.

This box has enabled me to discover some key spot zapping products which are not available here in the UK which does make the reviewing process more interesting.

The contents within this box is worth an incredible £96.50 and the cost of the box including shipping works out to be around £29.00. It’s a small price to pay to discover these hidden gems. No silly little samples in this box!

The Pore Care 3 box is still available on their website here and includes free express shipping. Use the code L8PEY0 to get an additional $5 off.

 1. Liaison De Parfum – Sample Vial. Full Size 100ml RRP £105.00

When opening my Birchbox I didn’t expect a perfume sample to be within the pretty envelope packaging embossed with the words Resist Me. This Nana de Bary’s luxe fragrance captures the romantic essences of life and travel.

Liaison De Parfum is a new line within Nana De Bary’s collection and is composed of four distinctive scents, and has been almost five years in the making, Each Parfum is de Bary’s homage to one of the four seasons or stages of a life well-lived. Made in France using traditional methods of classic perfumery.

I have been introduced to some wonderful scents by Birchbox and this Parfum was certainly unique and mysterious. I picked up the Sandalwood tones straight away and in my opinion overpowers the remainder of the other notes which include leather, cedar, Laban, bergamot, lemon, tangerine, immortelle, patchouli, iris, geranium and musk. This soothing, aromatic scent brings back some great memories of when traveling in India,  a culture who places great significance on the fragrance and medicinal qualities of Sandalwood which is used in beauty regimes and religious rituals dating back to ancient India.

2. Number 4 Super Comb Prep & Protect – Sample Size 30ml. Full Size RRP £20.00

It always handy to carry a leave in conditioner when away to tame tangled and unruly hair especially when you are in the sun. This spray detangles and protects  your locks against heat and sun damage. If you have thick unruly hair like mine you will welcome this product!

A good sized travel product which has a spray nozzle for easy application and can be spritzed over damp hair before drying and styling.

3. Supergoop Daily Correct SPF 35 CC Cream – Sample Size 3ml. Full Size RRP £32.00

This CC cream which is an American brand is a silky, all-in-one sun defense formula which covers imperfections and corrects uneven skin while targeting the signs of aging. Potent antioxidants and triple protection from UVA, UVB and IRA rays minimize the signs of photoaging and inflammation. This velvety cream comes in three self-adjusting shades to suit a variety of skin tones and is suitable for sensitive skin types.

Supergoop strive to formulate products that you and your family actually want to put on: they are lightweight, never greasy or sticky and easily absorb into skin. Supergoop is the first and only prestige skincare brand completely dedicated to sun protection and is endorsed by Maria Sharapova as co-owner and ambassador for suncare as skincare.

This comes at the right time for me as the last couple of month’s my skin is breaking out in spots more regularly than usually and I’m always looking for products which are effective.

I received the shade light to medium which was perfect for my skin tone. This blended in very well and covered my imperfections thoroughly. I was pleasantly surprised how light weight this formula felt on my skin. It’s the ideal consistency for the warmer weather and a great alternative to using a full on foundation.

Whilst this may be a teeny sample there’s two offerings of this CC cream which is a good taster to really get a feel of the product. I think I have just discovered my CC holy grail.

4. Sarah McNamara Miracle Skin Transformer Hydroactive Microderm – Sample size 14.2g. Full Size RRP £25.00

Sarah McNamara tapped into more than 15-years of experience in the corporate beauty world to bring us the Miracle Skin Transformer. Miracle Skin Transformer creates the first-ever, one-step application products designed to instantly transform your skin. Developed with naturally-derived silicones, these formulations contain powerful protection and hydration benefits leaving you with a smooth, radiant, airbrushed finish in seconds.

This cleanser gently cleanses the skin—removing surface oils, make up, dirt and grime—its whipped texture transforms into a soothing foam when blended with water. Skin feels fresh, hydrated and smooth instantly.

Infused with the M3 Complex, a powerful botanical antioxidant blend that works hard to fight free radicals.  Ecophysalis, Manuka Honey, and Vitamins help soothe and soften, for clarified and luminous skin.

I’m not too sure whether this can be used on oily skin but the reviews I have read are positive. I may give this a go once my skin has improved.

5. Wild about Beauty Powder Eyeshadow – Full Size. RRP £13.00

Who knew that Louise Rednapp along with Kim Jacob had a make-up line? Well here is one of the powder eye shadows from their paraben free range and it’s a full sized product. Say hello to Wild About Beauty.

Wild about Beauty’s highly pigmented, satin textured powder eyeshadows are available in a selection of easy-to-wear, flattering shades that will suit all skin tones.

I received the shade Becca which is a lovely rich golden bronze tone with a bee etched in the shadow which makes it adorably pretty. This applied smoothly and the colour pay off is very good. I love that there’s a mirror enclosed inside making on the go touch up’s super easy. A great shade to achieve the perfect summer look. You can also use this wet for a more intense look.

6. Lifestyle Extra – Chapter Sampler of the The Proposal by Tasmina Perry

An unusual lifestyle extra this month exclusively for Birchbox subscribers in the form of a book which gives you a chapter sampler of The Proposal written by Tasmina Perry, a novel which is spellbinding and romantic.

At first I was bemused as to why there was only 1 chapter. However i think this is actually a great idea. You will either give up at Chapter one or go and purchase the actual book to find out what happens next! I wish more author’s would do this. A great concept and introduction to a book which comes in a handy travel size.

7. Birchbox Travel Toiletries Bag

There’s a great addition to this month’s Birchbox  – an exclusively designed Birchbox toiletries bag with a very summery theme – ice lollies!

I  adore the design and the colours which they have combined to give you the perfect sized bag for all your make-up or holiday essentials. The bag is transparent also  enabling you to see exactly what’s inside. It’s material is waterproof too.

This handy bag can easily fit into your hand bag or your beach bag making it a must-have travel accessory.

My Verdict

This month’s box shout’s out Summer holidays and contained a selection of 6 must-have travel sized products whether you’re going on a day trip, weekend away or a getaway abroad.

The box mainly consisted of Skincare, make up, a hair product, a perfume sample and a lifestyle extra this month in the form of a book which has an extract of one chapter. A good variety of products and brands have been featured this month with the inclusion of an exclusive Birchbox make up bag for all your summer essentials.

The inserts this month contained useful tips and a tick list on what not to forget when your packing which is always useful. I tend to always forget one crucial item when packing and soon panic when it’s not in the case by which point it’s too late!

I must admit when I opened the box I wasn’t immediately wowed, however now I have gone into some depth I love the contents. The box includes a great selection of essential must-haves to get you through the Summer.

I’ve discovered some great gems this month especially the Supergoop CC Cream which is a great alternative for light weight coverage in the Summer months.
