It’s a new month which means new beauty treats and trends within the Love Me Beauty Boutique and this month see’s new arrivals from make up brands Model Co and Too Faced alongside some of their older stock too. I was delighted to see Too Faced this month as it’s a brand that I’ve not tried much of and I of course had to get the Better Than Sex Mascara just to see if it was really worth the hype, the bold marketing claim alone has had me intrigued for quite some time.

Each month The Love Me Beauty monthly subscription is worth 6 credits and you simply chose the items you want inside your box from a selection of products ranging from hair, body, nails, skincare and make-up. Most of the items are either 1 or 2 credits.

All the items are packed within a drawstring bag which is enclosed inside a sturdy good-sized box which can also be re-used for storage.

1.   Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara  –  (2 credits) Sample Size 4.8g Worth £11.40

Popularly known for it’s bold claims and some pretty impressive reviews, I had high expectations of the Too Faced Better than Sex mascara. It’s unique hourglass-shaped brush allows for great separation and curl whilst coating each lash with ease. It has a few unique selling points including a film-forming polymer to give a smudge-proof all-day wear, Senegal tree extract to nourish lashes and peptides to give a deep black colour payoff.

I love the packaging which is surprisingly quite played down despite the name of the mascara and comes presented in beautiful light pink chrome tube.  The wand itself is a hourglass shape with tightly packed bristles and alongside the formula they do indeed make the perfect partnership.

Without a doubt this made my lashes look amazing, it gave volume, length and drama which are the key things I look for in a mascara. The wand separates the lashes perfectly and even after a couple of coats there wasn’t a clump in sight.

I’m blown away by this mascara and it’s been quite sometime since one has truly wowed me. Is it really better than sex? Well, let’s not go there but if you love a lot of vavavoom when it comes to lashes then I would definitely recommend this.

2.   Too Faced La Crème Lipstick  –  (2 credit) Sample Size 1.5g Worth £8.00

The La Crème Collection from Two Faced is described as a rich and creamy lip color infused with moisturising and strengthening benefits and within the boutique was the shade Naked Dolly and I should of realised from the name it was going to be a nude but in amidst of the excitement I must of overlooked this! The colour itself is a pale, pinkish nude, that is slightly sheer and personally I just can’t pull it off so my hunt for the perfect nude continues.

The packaging is very nice and the formula certainly lives up to its name. It’s creamy and smooth with a faint sweet scent which is actually quite pleasant. Although the shade wasn’t suited for me I would love to try out some of their other shades within their collection.

3.   Model Co Mini Kabuki Brush –  (2 credits) Full Size RRP £8.00

Most of the Kabuki brushes I own are huge in size and this mini version looked ideal for popping into the make up bag.

The dense, soft dome shaped brush promises to provide smooth, even coverage for all powder and pigment applications and don’t be fooled by the size as it’s a great all-rounder for applying powder foundation, loose powder and even blusher.

  My Verdict

I’m really happy with my selections this month and although the lipstick wasn’t suited for me it was a great opportunity to try out the formula itself. I’m smitten with the Too Faced Mascara and the Models Co Kabuki brush, both of which have taken up residence inside my make-up bag. This month’s boutique heavily featured make up  which isn’t really an issue for me but I would love to see more skincare, bath and body products and even some hair products which in turn would provide more balance and choice for subscribers.

I love that I can curate my own box,  filling it with products to meet my likes giving me full control and flexibility. The value of my box totals to £27.40 this month with one full sized product and two generous sized samples.

I’m looking forward to seeing who Love Me Beauty have on board next month.
