The *April 2015 Glossybox has arrived and this month’s lavish collector’s edition takes us back to the golden age of Hollywood and is inspired by those timeless trends from decades ago which still continue to be emulated again and again even today. There’s four different pastel coloured boxes this month beautifully presented, and inside you can expect to see an all-glamour line up to re-create some of the signature looks we associate with the era from classic make up looks to that all important pre-prep. I absolutely adore the box design with mine being the yellow edition and it’s definitely a keeper that features a good balance of beauty from skincare, nail varnish, bath pearls and some make up treats. A couple of newly launched products have also been included this month so it’s great to see these inside the box too.

Glossybox is a monthly beauty subscription service. The box consists of 4-5 selected hair, make-up , body and nail products from well-known brands and new brands and includes a mixture of full sized and sample products.

1. Lord & Berry Lipstick Pencil in Kiss  – Full Size RRP £9.99

When I think of the golden era, signature red lips are probably the most iconic beauty trend that winds back beyond our time and it was great see a red hued lip pencil from Lord & Berry fitting aptly with the theme itself.

The shade of the pencil is a bright matte red and surprisingly being in this form it applies really smoothly without dragging the skin. The shade adds a vibrant punch of colour but depending on the tone of your lips this may look slightly orange hued as opposed to a true red but you can simply transform your look by adding a little gloss for shiny glam finish.

2. Pop Beauty Kajal Eyeliner Pen – Full Size RRP £6.50

Pop Beauty isn’t a brand I’ve tried before so was quite excited to try out their kajal eyeliner pen and if you read my posts regularly you will know that I love black eyeliner despite owning many!

The texture of the pencil applies smoothly and whilst it’s not the blackest of black shade, the finish is really soft giving you more of a natural look. The smudger is great but you do need to be really light-handed otherwise the liner will simply erase. It’s not the best eyeliner I’ve tried but if you want a soft and natural finish this does the job.

3. Darphin Exquisage Beauty Revealing Cream – Sample Size 5ml

Born in Paris, Darphin is a brand I’ve had little experience with so was happy to see their newly launched Exquisage Beauty Revealing Cream inside the box.

The Exquisage Beauty Revealing Cream contains probiotics for protection, and a blend of barley, tomato, sunflower and cucumber extract to reinforce the skin’s barrier, and help it retain moisture over time, and protect it against environmental aggressions. The key ingredient is the CelluVie Complex, a blend of ingredients formulated to boost skin’s natural collagen and is suitable for all skin types. The cream itself is quite rich and feels rather luxurious, and the scent is as lovely as you would expect from Darphin. I’m looking forward to giving this a go but with it only being 5ml sample think I will be saving it!

4.  Color Club Barely There Nail Polish –  Full Size RRP £4.10

Being a self-confessed nail varnish obsessive I’m always happy to receive a nail varnish and all subscribers can expect to see the shade ‘Barely There’ by Color Club. The shade is a nude creme and it’s a lovely neutral colour which will pair well with almost any outfit and will undoubtedly work all year round.

 5.  Nougat London Soothing Bath Pearls – Sample Size

I love pampering bathing products, although I only wish I made more time for such activities as I’m more of a shower person but it was nice to see these Soothing Bath Pearls from Nougat London in the scent Cherry Blossom enclosed within a organza pouch.

These pearls lace the bath with a delicate fragrance and also have a very subtle shimmer which stays on the skin to give a glowing sheen, the perfect excuse to indulge and unwind before a night out.

My Verdict

Whilst I was initially expecting an all things make up line up for this month’s theme, I was pleasantly surprised that they had incorporated all aspects of beauty to inject some Hollywood glamour into both our make up and skin care routine. I absolutely adore the design and presentation of the box which is something Glossybox do extremely well. As well as the adorned design, there’s some great highlights within this month’s box and includes three full sized products which totals up to a value of around £21.00, not the greatest value compared to other month’s but still beats the cost of the box.

Glossybox always include a generous amount of full sized products and the total value always beats the actual monthly subscription cost so it’s a great affordable way to discover products from well known and new brands.
