The box consists of 4-5 selected hair, make-up and beauty products from well-known brands and emerging brands as well as throwing in a lifestyle extra too. Birchbox is also a full-blown beauty destination where you can purchase all the brands which have been featured in their boxes with an exceptional and very generous reward program.

1.   Benefit They’re Real Tinted Primer – Sample Size 3.0g. Full Size RRP £18.50

If there’s a product that bestows immediate impact it has me interested in a flash and this is definitely one of those gems. The Benefit Tinted Primer is a new addition to the They’re Real collection and promises to tint, define and prime lashes and can be either worn alone for a natural look or alongside the They’re Real Mascara to amplify the effect.

By applying the primer first, my lashes were separated, lengthened with a natural finish and was really pretty good just on its own but when paired with the They’re real mascara, this perfect duo delivers a much more dramatic look. I have to admit I really love this primer and I’ve seen a real difference in the length of my lashes when paired with the mascara. It will be interesting to see how this performs with the other Benefit mascaras.

2.    Eyeko Fat Liquid Liner  Full Size RRP £12.00

Being a fan of the Eyeko Fat Liner, I’m really pleased to have another as a back-up .

The nib of this eyeliner is just like a chunky felt tip and gives a reasonable thick and thin line. The pigmentation of the liner is very black and striking, something that I really love. When it comes to perfecting to those wings I’m not a pro by no means but this makes it so easy and it’s a good choice for beginners too!

3.    Caudalie Fleur de Vigne Shower Gel Travel Size 30ml. Full Size £9.00

For those who adore the beautiful scented products from Caudalie will really appreciate this shower gel!

Enriched with aloe vera, this soap-free shower gel has a gentle plant-based cleansing formula that respects the skin’s  pH balance and its delicate fragrance of white rose and rose pepper transforms shower time into pure bliss.

As it’s soap and sulfate free, this doesn’t foam up as much as normal shower gel but it does leave you feeling refreshed and moisturised making it great choice for the mornings or when you need to unwind in the evening!

4.    Parlor Moisturising and Repairing Shampoo & Conditioner Duo – Sample Size 30ml & 12ml sachet. Full Size RRP £16.00 each

This lightweight, multi-tasking duo combines nourishing and strengthening ingredients that targets medium to coarse dry/damaged hair and promises to gently cleanse hair to leave it feeling soft and strong and looking smooth and shiny.

Parlor’s signature scent of ripe peach, cut grass and white woods might be the most addictive scent I’ve ever smelled in a hair product, I can’t wait to put these to the test.

5.     Absolution L’Eau Soir et Matin Sample Size. Full Size RRP £27.00

You’ve probably heard of micellar water by now, a product touted by every makeup artist, model and person! Absolution L’Eau Soir et Matin is an all-natural and mostly organic alternative, perfect for those who want to green their skincare routine or want more of a skin-friendly option.

Containing the finest organic ingredients such as hazelnut oil, aloe vera and vitamin E to soften and purify the skin it also contains Helicrysum Hydrolat plant extract for its healing properties to complete the composition of this delicate cleanser.

6.    Extra Beauty Bonus – Birchbox Compact Mirror  RRP £4.00

I’m always losing compact mirrors so really pleased to see the #nofilter mirror inside this month’s box which in turn ties in really nicely with the theme.

My Verdict

This month’s box is inspired by positive vibes and features a little bit of everything to have you feeling good and looking fantastic. Showcasing a good variety of beauty from skin and hair care rescuers to much needed pick me ups in the form of make up and a beautiful scented shower gel it’s the perfect kick-start edition for January.  I love the collaboration with Pinterest, it’s such a breath of fresh air and to no surprise they’ve gone all out on the design front with the inclusion of the lovely postcards, the compact mirror and not forgetting the beautiful, vibrant box design – it’s definitely a keeper!

Whilst Birchbox send out smaller samples with 1-2 full sized items, in my opinion they are much more consistent and are more likely to send you something that you feel the need to purchase. All in all, I’m thoroughly impressed with the January edition and I particularly love that they’ve included a good selection that we can incorporate into our everyday routines.

February Sneak Peek – Birchbox will be adding a little sparkle to the month of lurve with a very special edition and they’ll also be debuting their brand new, exclusive Birchbox-made make-up brand LOC (Love of Color)
